Hi folks,
there are some abilities I rarely see used or use (because I don't find them that usefull, and apparently most of my enemies too), maybe you could tell what you think about them and what their best use is in your opinion (and maybe answer some of the questions below).
1. Artillery Officer: the smoke barrage is cool, but I'm not sure about the rest... how does the 20mun ability affect units excatly (stats)?
2. Heavy Strafing Run (AT): the few times I used it, its damage was not that good and I had the impression that it need LoS to be effective. true?!
3. Hull down: massive strategic impact, as you're vulnerable to arty and usually want you tanks to move, but is the bonus worth it? (what is it anyway?!)
4. Command tank: how does it affect the units in its sector?
5. Relief infantry
6. Trenches: what is the exact bonus for units?
7. Arty: when playing OH I never find myself saving the 600mp for this one...
8. Smoke Bombs: Ok their use is quite obviously for blocking LoS, but do you find it useful?
9. The grens in the SdKfz from Mech Supp

Aaaaaaaand it's working again. |
It does what it was designated as; SturmGeschütz, which is assault gun.
But unlike the inital versions, StuG III G was a tank destroyer, so he is right. |
Ostwind looks like its going to be bad-ass unit this patch
A lot of people seem to say so, but why? I'm not questioning it, I just can't read it from the changes:
Armor from 105 to 110
Rear armor from 52.5 to 55
Penetration from 35 to 40
Cooldown from 0.6 to 0.5-0.7
Distance scatter max from 2.15 to 2.9
Manpower from 320 to 280
Fuel from 115 to 100 |
From the recent patch notes:
"AOE Profiles
Very similar to the changes made to grenade AOE profiles. Long and mid-range AOE no longer has a chance to miss its target, the weapon profile damage has been averaged out to compensate. Slight adjustments to AOE radius or distance values were made on a number of vehicles to better align them with their intended performance."
Does this mean even more/less one shot wipes or does this probably have no effect? |
One shotting also has a counterpart: eating squads alive with high dps, frequent shots. But that only affects infantry as it is only made by infantry.
Yes, but it does not happen from one instant to the other and the high number of "events" makes this quite predictable, and due to the short range you can avoid it just like the satchel of the penals that can also one-shot your squad but can be dodged with attention and/or micro. A single random 120mm, KV-2 etc. shell (even an unlucky single Katyusha rocket) can take out your squad in case the RNG is against you, no matter how much you pay attention or what you do. |
It's just that playing CoH2 is often so frustrating. I played a CoH a lot, and a after a lost battle you just thought "well, I should have meda this or that better". I'm playing the Wargame series very frequently, and even a game that is beeing lost can just be sooo much fun. Defending against an enemy assault with inferior numbers in Total Destruction or launching a desperate attack to turn the tides that is crushed by a counter offensive is still very enjoyable, while after losing a game of CoH2 it often (not always) just fells like it was the game that beat you with all the heavy RNG... (side note: I am not against RNG, but the effects in CoH2 are just stupid... one of the many exapmles is ram: against a Tiger it's a coinflip if you waste a tank or effectivly destroy a heavy tank by disabling gun & engine... these coinflips should not affect the game in the way & extent they do)
Maybe the best is to let CoH2 rest for a few months and see if it turns out well... |
Don't wanna be the necro here, but when will this ridicoulus mechanic be resolved? |
I don't see why the frontal Gren attack on a Maxim + Rifel Nade is worse than Ooorah right into the face of an MG42 + Molo.
You can prevent both by supporting your MG (scout for it) so it pins earlier. |
Yesterday night, i did 6 games with my teammate, 5 of them, we played against Tiger Ace. So maybe, germans aren't good if you don't take Tiger bullshit doctrine, but currently, i haven't played a game where the opponents did not take it. The worst thing is this kind of players think they are good.
It seems to me that the only players left are the ones who were willing to buy crappy OP commanders (although playing vs p2w is more of a concern as Sov because the shock/guard combo is strong enough so you don't see SI every match as Ost, which does not make things better regarding team game balance... -.- ).
Btw: I never bought and (hopefully) will never buy imba commanders (bought no commander at all so far). |
