There are some situational uses for railway.
- Use it on AT guns during big engagements
- Self-repairing tanks from brits/soviets
- Howitzers emplacements from Soviets
- Destroying Strong buildings
Also, quite importantly, it denies an area to the enemy. You really can't risk moving into an area when there are railway arty shells raining down. So you can use it to force the enemy out of certain areas during engagements. |
The officer is pretty nice. It has about the firepower of a grenadiers squad and the abilities are rather nice. It's a heavily underused unit for some reason.
- Concentrated fire is just a nice DPS boost for your units. Use it during engagements where you have a few units fighting and it will pay off.
- Smoke drops are excellent for a variety of gameplay situations such as: trying to steal a support weapon during an engagement, quickly nullifying an enemy machinegun, or covering the retreat of one of your tanks.
- Vector arty is not spectacular. It's a very situational ability. It orders artillery units to fire on location, even when they are still on cooldown. So you could use it for example with the Panzerwerfer to get extra rocket barrages. The vector ability gives arty units extra range as well so the barrages are usually fired instantly when you activate the vector arty ability.
Trenches are alright. Not bad, but not particularly good either.
Railway arty is the best call in arty at taking out static targets. Excellent against British players who use emplacements. The first round will always hit dead-center so it's a guaranteed kill on things like enemy ML-20 howitzers, mortar pits etc. Even Bofor positions will go down to a single use of this ability IF you use if after the opponent has already used the 'brace' ability and it is on cooldown. So to take out a bofors for example, first do some damage to it with a panther or a panzerwerfer and wait for it to go into brace. Then, after about 20 seconds, get some vision on the bofors and call in the railway arty on it. Brace will have worn off by the time the first railway shell lands and the 2nd or 3rd shell will destroy it. |
Something player tend to forget is to build green cover with it, cover can stop shreck shots or tank shells, it is free so use it.
People forget to build green cover with it because the ability is bugged.

Meh, relief infantry is better and is in overall better doctrines than rapid conscription. |
My main gripes with Ostheer are:
- 4 man grenadier squads suffer too much from RNG wipes from explosive weapons. It's much easier to get a nice core of vet3 main infantry with the other factions than it is with Ostheer. I think grens should be 5 man squads instead of 4 man squads, with appropriate stat adjustments to make the unit as combat effective as it is now.
- Brumbar is a bad unit. Its accuracy is sub-par and it has no other redeeming qualities. A panzerwerfer is a cheaper and better choice in 99% of gameplay scenarios.
- Prostruppen spam is slightly too effective. |
i use WASD to scroll and all the keys around.
with GridKeys, you have to switch sides of the keyboard, don't you? that's very awkwar imo
I use other the other methods to move my screen around. Mostly mini map clicking and middle mouse + drag, and sometimes simply panning the screen over by moving the mouse to the side. |
A player who averages 50-100 in rank on all other factions climbed to top 10 with brits, particularly with the use of the new commanders and emplacements. Seems pretty telling.
^^^
He was rank 24 with OKW last time I checked. |
I think that the most annoying thing about Grid Hotkeys is how R is "Reinforce" on normal hotkeys, and "Retreat" in gridkeys. Makes for some pretty hilarious situations when you take the time to softretreat to a halftrack, only to have that squad sprinting back to base instead
For me one of the annoying things when switching from standard to grid hotkeys was that I often accidentally pressed 'R' instead of 'T' when trying to upgrade weapons on a squad. |
Bad idea. It would make all team weapons a lot more vulnerable to death-loops and would impact units where firepower is spread equally among models a lot more than it would units where special weapons hold most of the firepower. |
How are maxims overperforming?
Come the fuck on, they are on spot.
Stop asking to nerf any soviet unit that performs just good.
Maxims were already nerfed.
Maxims set up so fast that they are autonomous a-move assault units rather than support weapons. |
