Molotovs totally negate vCOH Ostheer tactics in my opinion.
You need to have a .5 sec reaction time really, you must issue your gren move command as soon as you see the conscript put his hand in his pocket, any later than that and you are definitely losing one guy in the squad at least.
So for me, I can't play Ostheer anymore, I have about a 1 sec reaction time and my vision doesn't seem to pick up on it enough...If I stare at one conscript squad I can dodge, but that means another one will get the Mollie instead.
There's no way you dodged rifleman grenades if you can't dodge molotovs. |
Pak43 behind buildings on that map is OP. Pak43 and elefant, its GG. There is no effective counter.
Arty. Oh wait Elephant doctrine has recon AND stuka dive bomb
You can use incendiary barrage to clear the pak43s but obviously killing it outright would be cooler. And what about the arty from the ISU doctrine? |
IDD that squad wipes from tanks need to go, however... 2v2 in vCoH frequently revolved around whether you killed the mortar pit or not. In 1v1, going fast m8 and losing it meant you probably lost the game. Losing one squad early in vCoH was actually worse than it is in CoH2, at least judging from all the replays on this site where people lose multiple cons or grens in the first 5 minute and still win. If you lost two rifles or two volks in vCoH it was pretty rare to win.
Considering the importance of snipers in the meta, and the fact that countersniping was a coin flip, I don't know how you can say RNG is stronger in CoH2. Plus on-map arty was built every 2v2 in vCoH, and you had to rely on RNG for it to hit things.
I do try to play in tourneys, but I frequently have things I want to do outside the house on the weekends. I'd play in more tourneys if they were at 7pm on weekday nights, but I know that's impossible considering how many european/asian players there are. |
I think once people start playing Ostheer like they played Wehr in VCoh: keep grens around an mg and focus fire flanking squads, opinions might change. Having higher long-range DPS means its important to have troops together so you can force individual squads off the field quickly. 1v1 infantry battles now favor conscripts on many maps.
Everyone still tries to play the whole map with 4-5 grens all spread out and I don't think that's viable anymore, however in a full-scale engagement I don't think germans have a problem forcing off conscripts. |

I've heard it argued that if Hitler hadn't been indecisive during the initial phase of the push into Russia, the Red Army may have been smashed for good. What does this have to do with the ISU? |
Entertaining game, questionable stug micro by Hans made up for by the fact that he back teched T2, which people neglect to do a lot when they should.
Good example of how despite what folks say, unit preservation wins games. |
Still don't see anyone trying to countersnipe. The ready-aim time on the soviet sniper is longer than the first shot re-cloak on the german sniper, so you can consistantly pick off one man of the soviet team and get away. Do that 4 times and the german sniper has paid for itself.
Easier said than done of course but I don't think its unreasonable to have to counter snipers with snipers. |
Your opponent got THREE panzergrens but failed to save up for a shrek, he could have built 1 PG, a fuel OP, and a pak and gone T3 and been in an excellent position when the 34/85s showed up. I'm so tired of people blaming balance on the outcome of games when its pretty clear them or their opponents didn't play well.
Did not see the Tiger one shot a guards squad. First guard squad died to PGs, second one lost like 4 or 5 men to the MG42 upgrade on the tiger and then got shot by the main gun. |
To quote you:
The purpose of this post was to give you the opportunity to correct your behavior after you had cooled down and give a gg. Your choice of words instead shows me your true colors.
Eh? |
GG I've tried lots of strats but tbh this seems the strongest one right now in 1v1
