IF sandbags go on Sturms, then decrease Sturm sandbag build time.

Still hard no on sandbags going to Sturms though. The unit already has too many things to do, and it also makes Volks less important.

On the topic of Ostheer, I like the idea suggested earlier that allows Grens to build trenches.

I agree, Sandbags on Sturm Pioneers is a terrible idea.

Today I would like to talk about the UKF Bofors 40mm Anti-Aircraft Gun.


Veterancy

First of all has anyone gotten the Bofors to Vet 3? In my almost 7000 hours of COH 2 played I have never seen a Bofors Vet 2 let alone vet 3. Usually when the enemy knows that you have a Bofors, they will either avoid that area of the map or use Mortar/AT Gun spam to take it out.


Anti-Air Capability

Second as an Anti-Aircraft Gun it doesn't actually do a good job of AA. If I am not mistaken it was bugged previously and did 0 damage to air planes making it unable to function as an AA gun.

Physical Size/Unit Scale

The Bofors is massive in game and doesn't match the unit scale compared to other things in the game. Even if I do build the unit, certain maps can make it a double edged sword as it messes up unit/tank pathing.

[u]Pop Size
The unit has a massive pop size cost of 10. For how easy it is to kill, the investment (Research + Build time/Fuel Cost) it is a very very inefficient use of resources that could be spent on something else.



Proposed Changes

-Give the Bofors shared vet like the Kubelwagon. This would allow the unit to actually gain veterancy if properly maintained.

-Fix/Boost the Anti-Air Performance of the Bofors

-Reduce the physical size of the Bofors to be slightly bigger than the OKW 20MM Flak.

-Reduce Population from 10 to 5

In exchange for these buffs, I would like to see the Bofors nerfed to similar levels of the OKW 20MM Flak.
This would make it better to actually build as the unit wouldnt be a huge drain on your manpower and better to play against Germans as the emplacement would be used in a supportive role (like the OKW 20mm Flak) and could actually gain vet and scale to the late game while not taking LEFH/Mortar/AT Gun spam to kill.

Any thoughts on giving Penals access to Dp-28s? I would be more willing to take Penals over cons if they got some anti-infantry upgrades as an alternative to PTRS.

Personally I always felt that Penal Squads should be swapped with Guards (rebalanced of course) simply due to the fact that Penal Battalions didn't outnumber the red army and it kind of feels unrealistic seeing whole armies of Penal spam in games. From a thematic point it would make sense to swap them. It would also be easier to balance since you could gate DP-28/PTRS behind Tech/Upgrades to smooth out the curve a bit kind of like how Obers need tech to gain the MG-34.

Also this could fix PPSH being useless if Non Doctrinal Guards could get them and you could turn them into Assault Guards like the ones in the M5 Halftrack from the Lend Lease commander.

With the upcoming patch and now with some extra time, this is a perfect combo to propose some changes. Like always, you can test it out with my mod.



This show cases aircraft health, as oppose to instant death, and a change to the Soviet's mark target. The mark target effect in live continues for the full duration regardless what happens to the aircraft. The mark target can be tailored to the aircraft so if the aircraft dies, the effect ends which allows more counter-play.

The Ability is fine as it is. You counter the ability by just reversing your tank and waiting for it to go away.

Panzer II Luchs
The Luch's veterancy 5 Suppressive Fire ability is being improved by allowing its coaxial to deal suppression, as well as the main gun. This will allow the Luchs to pin infantry after several seconds of sustained fire.
- Coaxial MG now deals suppression during 'Suppressive Fire' ability.
- Coaxial burst length increased by 300% during Suppressive Fire and accuracy reduced by 50%


I am not necessarily against these changes but by the time you get a Luchs to Vet 5 to use Suppressive Fire you most likely won the game at that point as the Luchs was able to commit mass genocide and solo entire infantry armies. While a nice change, I would like to see the ability actually seen in a normal game that isn't a complete stomp. Maybe move suppressive fire to Vet 1, give it like a 30 second cooldown, increase ammo cost to around 20-40 or so then have Vet 5 reduce the cooldown/ammo cost to current levels.
