Here's my problem...through multiple games with Americans, it seems we just cannot close the deal. We can get very close to winning, but then, it seems Axis will get armor. From there, it's basically game over. AT guns are ok, but are easily flanked. Bazookas do nothing; they're very weak. American armor is a joke. I know most of you will say, "don't let them get that far ahead", but my team and I don't. We cap, we harass, we kill the everloving shit out of the enemy, and they ALWAYS make this miraculous comeback with armor. Any ideas ?

I've seen this happen as well. But I don't think its a problem. Generally a good OKW player well be able to se that they are loosing the mid game and fall back just as allied players spread out to capture points. They will fall back to a forward base and try and conserve resources by falling back before loosing too much manpower then build a heavy tank and push out in one big blob. I've found that US forces need combined arms to deal with OKW armor. A combination of infantry AT as well as AT guns and armor.

if we are talking about super heavy tanks like the king tiger that requires an entire army working together to take it out. Tanks by themselves can't stop this thing unless you flank it and stay behind it.

also (I can't stress this enough) always review the replay of any game u lose. First try and identify who was your main opponent if it was a team game and review the post game stats, when did his army value jump? When did yours drop? When did they start floating resources?

then review the replay, identify when and where you lost individual battles. Was there something you could have done to counter? Were you beaten because they were playing better then u? Did u have to fight off more then one player and not get any support? Were there any signs that they were building up to heavy tanks? Try and remember at what time they got the heavy armor out and in future games keep that in mind as the time ticks on.

Its difficult for US to counter German late game tanks. OKW have the most powerful heavy tanks in the game and if they keep their infantry alive they are tough as hell to kill when they are vet 5. That combined with regular German army spamming panzer IV, but it can be done. I played a 4v4 last night all US vs 2 OKW and 2normal German armies and we were able to kill at least two King tigers. So I know it can be done.

So, I'm on a 3 loss streak with Soviets against OKW since the patch hit.

With the M3 mega nerf. Building M3s is too risky, you only have 10 fuel left after building T1 so you have to wait around 2-3 mins to get one, and building more than 2 is a big investment of 30 fuel. M3 spam is no longer viable, pretty much nerfed to the ground. Now how can the Red Army counter OKW besides maxim spam which gets hard countered by Fallschirmjagers at 3 CP?

Soviets are badly designed and useless against OKW in 1v1. If I can't finish the game around the 15 min mark, it's lost as OKW late game is unbeatable with their vetted elite infantry and armour unless the player makes a massive blunder.

I might try an all or nothing build with soviet industry to try to crush them early with T70 spam. But I'm short on ideas for new tactics besides that.

Ok well I’ve won most of my soviet vs OKW games but I don’t know what your level of play is and I may have just gotten lucky and only played vs noobs. As for M3’s go they still work for me. Building M3’s are always risky and if they aren’t micro’d well, then they can be overwhelmed and killed.
My standard build vs OKW is…
Build tier 1, while eng are building build conscripts, as soon as conscripts are out you may need to wait 10 sec for you to have enough manpower to start building an M3. As soon as the M3 is out I send it out to harass. I try to keep the eng squad capping near to it so it can fall back to them if it needs repairs. I do not put engineers into the M3 because I want them out capping and the M3 harassing. If the M3 finds a squad by itself unsupported (a very good chance that this will happen) I rush the m3 in close to do maximum damage. ( no need to stay back and kite in this situation since OKW have no early AT except for that Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher and no one builds that right off the bat)
Depending on how the OKW respond determines what I do next. At this point I either build another conscript squad or wait a few extra seconds for a penal battalion. If OKW go and build a Kübelwagen then I focus on building conscripts and try and take it out with the M3. If they go with Volksgrenadiers I focus on building penal battalions and begin equipping everything with flamers. If they start building Sturmpioneer Squads I either build more M3’s and combat eng squads to bleed his manpower or just start building snipers.
When I play against OKW I work off the assumption that they will probably not have any hard counter to the M3 in the early game. Also I assume that if you keep up a constant pressure all around the map you can delay him from tecking up for a while.
Both the US and OKW benefit the most from grouping their units together in blobs. Keep that in mind and go for the unguarded points and then move to avoid being overwhelmed.

I'd actually say that most of this post is inaccurate. No offense.

I've seen Volley Fire suppressing and pinning at medium range incredibly fast. Short range is basically a 2 second pin and rivals a Heavy Machine Gun. Squads will even be suppressed at long range.

Volley fire doesn't actually go away immediately if you switch targets. It is possible to suppress units after you've moved with Volley Fire.

I even had this situation go down:
1) Sturmpioneer comes up, I pop volley fire, pin him, he retreats.
2) I walk over to the cut-off point. Like five seconds later I see some volks coming at me. Volley fire was used like ~8 seconds ago.
3) Me firing on the volks suppresses them.

There's a lingering effect that allows you to suppress. My initial reaction to this new volley fire was "I guess I just need to run into the fog of war when I see it happen" but the suppression is so fast and it doesn't go away when you break line of sight!

I'd argue that Cover is a good counter. Cover and range used to mitigate this ability very well in the Alpha. That being said I've suppressed troops and that were in green cover without even needing to flank. Green cover can protect you but it's a gamble.

The only good counter right now to deal with Volley Fire is buildings pretty much. Buildings and vehciles.

I can't imagine that Rear Echelon spam is very good right now though. The cost of the ability is a little prohibitive.

Oh! And you can use Volley Fire while in a building. It's just something that you can do. I've stolen a building and then spammed Volley Fire out of it like ~5 times in a row and completely dominated one game.

The ability is out of control right now.

I wasn't aware that volley fire was a lingering affect. I guess I assumed that you could only target 1 unit because when you activate it you need to select the target unit. if its a lingering affect then that should be changed. as for using it in buildings, i haven't come across that much yet. but then again this version of the game has only been out for 2 days so i figure we will all be learning new things very soon.

Now I know that if u use volley fire on 1 unit and another is close by it will pin them both. and that even after the suppressing weapon stops firing at them they will remain suppressed longer if they are still being fired at by other weapons.

So I was on the alpha and was having a lot of trouble with the US forces until I watched an Expert Computer do a build like this and copied it. It worked for me and maybe it will work for you.

Keep in mind that this build is all about locking down Munitions and getting weapons upgrades as soon as possible. This was always kind of counter intuitive for me because before Western Front it was always fuel that was the priority. So much so that I would skip molotov’s and AT grenades when playing Soviets just so I can get to tier 3 or 4 as fast as possible.
So here is my build.

Rifle Men, Rear Echelon Troops, Rifle Men then build a Munitions cache and upgrade to the BAR.

This build is super-fast and will put you into a position to keep your rifle men well equipped. (When I run this I can get the Munitions cache up and running within 3-4 min from the start of the game) also because Rear Echelon Troops are so cheap you should have 4 combat troops on the field while most other armies will only have 3. This gives you some extra early map control. But keep in mind that because the RET’s are so week you need to keep them close to other troop and also remember to use the suppressing fire ability to win 1 on 1 engagements.

At this point you will be hitting the 5 min mark and have a bunch of options. Personally, I go and build 2 more rifle man squads and upgrade to tier 2. Then unlock the bazooka /grenades depending on the situation. Soon after I build an ambulance.

If I've gained enough map control I’ll build a forward fighting position to protect a cutoff or an important point and use the RET’s to run out to cap and to fall back to the fighting position in case they run into trouble. The rest of my forces I blob together and attack somewhere else.

  I have recently bought this commander and it is great, but my early gmae sucks. I can't quite understand what should I do at my early game when I choose him. It takes me time to save the fuel needed for t3 or t4 but I also dont want to waste my men power as it grows slower. Any suggestions on this topic ?
  

There are 2 ways I approach my opening with this commander.

#1 The safe way to play it is to open with a standard build. Building a couple of 2-3 conscripts and a 2nd eng. squad. Keep in mind if you lose a conscript squad its not that bad and in fact can be helpful since that would reduce your pop cap and keep your manpower up when you select the commander. at this point the first upgrade i go for is the Medic upgrade to keep your infantry alive. I avoid the Molotov, and AT nade to save fuel. as soon as I have enough for the T1 or 2 building I buy it but usually don’t use anything from it. Maybe a Maxim since it reinforces cheep. Then go T3, maybe T4. Only after building the tier 3 or 4 building do i select the commander. That way when your income shifts to fuel it’s at a point when you are building tanks and not building a huge stockpile of fuel in the early game that you won’t be able to use. Remember to build the repair stations ( 1 to start out but you should be up to 3 by the late game) and the 2 engineers should be putting mines everywhere. Especially at choke points leading to your repair stations.

#2 In a large team game 2v2 3v3 and 4v4, I will sometimes go for the sniper opening. Begin by building tier 1, and then start building my first sniper. while the sniper is building i send out the eng to take some points but hold him back a little until the snipeer is there to support him. Then as soon as I have the manpower i'll build another. Remember the best way to use this tactic is to use the 2 snipers and the eng as one unit. the eng goes out front, the 2 snipers follow behind and take shots at whomever is shooting at the eng. as soon as they start ignoring the eng and running after the sniper displace the snipers. I like to split them up forcing the attackers to focus on 1 while the other continues to shoot at them and bleed their manpower. if it looks like they are taking any kind of damage i retreat them immediately to preserve the 2 man squad. (90 manpower is alot to replace one guy in the early game) next i research the medic upgrade to keep those snipers healthy. I then consider building another sniper, or an eng squad. at this point you should also be able to build a tier 3 or 4 building, and as soon as you do that select the commander. This early build is high risk and high reward if done right. is does require allot of micro of the snipers but by only having 2 snipers it makes it much more manageable. you will find yourself retreating allot with this build but it does force the enemy to do 2 things. it forces them to use 2-3 units to chase down the snipers, units that won’t be capping, also the natural counter to snipers is the scout car, knowing that you can plan on how to counter it, usually by building a t70 as soon as your tier 3 building is finished or if needed skip this commander and select one with guards (alway be flexible). Oh and place alot of mines. you will find that you tend to build up alot of munitions when your primary fighting force is tanks.

the key here is not to select this commander until you have the inf units you will need for the game. This is especially true now after the patch since you don’t eve benefit from this commander until you have 2 points.
