M3 is the only early unit that is useful ATM.
M3 kitting and spotting for sniper, penals to keep grens at bay and Guards so German scout car can't move around without any fear whatsoever.
That's the only tactic I got atm that can stand up to Ostheer (early game anyway)
Forgot to say, great to get penals throgh the fences to flank MG42.
Just keep Eng close by, for constant repairs.
1 Faust won't kill it, and sniper will take its toll on grens while M3 is kitting |
Im not saying its balanced or not. I dont see too many people adapting to the new mechanics. I cant really tell yet because it seems too early to understand the new meta game.
I adapted!! Its quite natural for anyone who was decent VCOH player to use cover, vehicle kite, move mortar after 2 shoots fired, set up killing field traps, use cover to flank, etc.
The problem is German players are adapting as well, they know that you cannot come close range to LMG gren, they will defeat you on open and if you stay in cover they can just move up MG42 to pin you or mortar your ass.
120mm mortar was very effective in 2v2 for 1 day, until most German players figured out that mortar HT is like a God unit currently. Pretty much impossible to kill in 2v2 with decent support.
Problem is, I play with Soviets and I try every possible tactic and build to defeat German players who didn't adapt, don't use cover well, they still charge units in green cover and I have a very hard time defeating someone with poor micro with very good micro.
I play as German, I just wipe the floor with someone who doesn't micro excellent
That my friend isn't balanced game. |
Me and a guy who states he just bought the game VS RtN (or was it rng). Just an example of the fucked up ladders. I guess its because nobody plays anymore and it takes to long to get a game. This is getting worse every day as the playerbase keeps getting smaller.
Lol you too?
I had a game with someone who was capping first point with 3 maxims and eng vs RNG team
That was my 3rd game in a row with similar skilled player and it was late, so I just politely excused myself.
I got used to unbalanced games tho, usually I just do my best even tho its lost cause. |
No custom game lobby, 3v3 and 4v4 automatch means you get pro players and 'I just installed this game' players in the same game.
I liked 3v3 and 4v4 games in COH because you can choose who to let play. Similar skill, low ping, etc. Now I feel like puking just from thinking about playing 4v4 that is 90% of time not balanced and 2-3 players drop out in first 10 min.
COH2 was extremely noobish and lacking strategical options. The game revolved around super weapons (Super tanks, extreme amount of deadly call in abilities) Someone who isn't that good, can defeat your well planned and executed action with click of the button. (think straffing run that lasts for 60 seconds and pins all infantry on half the map, etc)
After latest patch; Germans play a lot like VCOH, you can actually defeat someone quite easily if they don't use cover or micro good (unlike what it was 1 week ago)
Soviets are hard to play and unbalanced atm, but thats not huge problem as balance can be altered easily.
Main reason I would say yes, do get COH2 is: Relic is moving in the right direction with the game, finally. After disaster decisions that alienated huge numbers of VCOH vets. Infantry play is much more strategic now, a lot like VCOH and Relic said they would do the same with mid and late game.
in conclusion, if you like 1v1 and 2v2 automatch VCOH, yes do get it.
If you can get used to playing unbalanced 3v3/4v4 games that end up semi-skirmish 90% of the time, yes do get it.
2v2, if you don't have a partner, you will be losing most of the time but 2 out of 5 games on average will be 'evenish'
I played VCOH for years, hope that helps you make a correct decision |
Was the mortar performance actually buffed? I didn't think so. (Sure, hes overall better because he can shoot bunched up enemys in green cover, and in general forces the opponent to attack.) But the promotion and shooting stuff on the move?
Bad wording, it gets promoted quite quickly dropping shells on inf in cover. Then it becomes real pain because it starts dropping shells on moving infantry. Not every shell, but it becomes considerable threat
and this is case with both Soviet and German mortars |
I find the biggest problem being in the early game. Especially 2v2.
It's quite easy for Mg42 supported by grens/pios to move up and pin Cons in green cover.
This is the problem because Cons or Penals cannot really flank Mg42, due to being shredded by support units. And cannot really stay in green cover because MG42 just moves up and pins them, forcing retreat.
It means that territory is lost and resources become scarce.
Couple of bunkers and couple of mortars later it just becomes huge struggle to do anything.
Soviets are designed to be like USA in VCOH and be mobile, flanking etc.
But have been made very impotent with latest patch, cause they are not very well suited for defensive play (early game) and now they are not that useful as offensive weapon.
P.S. Mortars are just ridiculous this patch as they shoot squads on the move and get promoted in a sec.
And yes, I did try to use soviet mortar to fight mg42 + mortar, but by that time there are usually scout cars or halftruck supporting German infantry = easy to lose that mortar, hard to kill opponent mortar.
Game just becomes progressively harder for Soviets as it goes.
Once again this is 2v2 game description, and its a lot easier to play as Soviet in 1v1 as you can just move to the other side of the map. Still a lot harder to play as Soviet then German tho, even in 1v1 |
very simply put does not have all the variables
it only has 2 of the 3 potential vairables. (even if very few if any would vote for it. )
What you are looking for is called 'focus group'
It's practically impossible to make unbiased questionnaire or poll simply because there are to many variables.
not everyone will understand the question the same way because of their experiences, demographics, language, upbringing, etc etc. the list goes on.
Questionnaires or polls are used to get generalized opinion of target market, and then focus group is created to find out the details.
You have space to give your opinion, you chose to be unproductive instead
Lets stop this crap about poll being 'crap' and voice your opinion instead

i don't know what relic's been smoking, but i'm guessing the good stuff.
STEP 1:
technically, i'm sure that the penal units were used to reinforce frontline troops, so merge makes sense
watchu guys think? good idea? or no?
Penals were actually some of the best troops Soviets had. Mostly due to not having a choice, hence they fought fanatically, and having high numbers of volunteers from Gulags (patriotic tough guys)
Some of the Penal battalions were awarded highest commendations and medals (imagine what they had to do to achieve those, even tho they were prisoners

I don't know, I played both factions and I asked my friends also on their opinions. Nothing looks unbalanced, sorry I have to say. If you take care of your troops, watch for cover, avoid open areas, mine, etc you should not feel it this way. My friend used in several after-patch games the same tactic as before, based on conscript spam but he used them very carefully, approaching from multiple directions and using cover. He had no problem in winning, as before.
I think all people who are complaining about this patch, no matter of ladder position, 1v1, 2v2, and so on, are simply not used yet to the new mechanic of the game.
Anyone who played 2v2 Soviets will instantly know you are lying or have played some noob who didn't figure out how to troll with Germans.
For instance I had same games vs German team pre-patch and post patch.
Pre-patch it would be hard battle, and they would usually narrowly win.
Post-patch, well there is simply no way to deal vs MG42's supported by eng, grens, few bunkers and vet mortars. And halftruck reinforcing. Wont even mention scout car
You cannot flank them, cannot stay in the cover. By their own words, they didn't even have to try hard. Some maps that are more open, they need little bit more time to box us in. Little bit more
No resources, no teching, no way to win |
These armies fought in the same war.
Its a video game and its riddled with historical inaccuracies as it is.
Realism? You are kidding, right?
I say yes, it's only a little bit more unrealistic than it is right now |
