This guy was so mad XD
Funny demo and bombing run. T3 with a howitzer actually counters the T1 T4 luchs rush with mass infantry meta really, really well. Bombing run on the trucks is a bonus. |

Wierd, I haven't seen that before, but I also haven't purchased the hard copy of a game in forever. I would try contacting steam support on this one. |
Boy howdy, this is a doozy. <cracks knuckles> I guess I'd better dig in.
2. What's up with ESL? Is it still a thing?
A: Yes, it is still a thing. It's still in the contracts phase right now, though. Once the 'boring business stuff' is more finalized, I'll have more to share and we will be speaking with the community on this.
6. Marketing. Do more of it. Do less of it. Don't do it.
We are in the process of building our marketing and brand team, and in 2015 we will be able to DO MORE. Somewhere, someone is going to comment on how they’re sick of me saying this… but what else can I really say? Also, it’s the truth. We are building.
Thank you for the reply Cynthia, you are excellent at explaining Relics polices and why things might not be moving at the speed we wish. I can appreciate the fact that Relic is a small studio with limited resources. I'm willing to be patient, and explanations like the ones you just gave go a long way towards shedding a light behind the frustrations of many players, so thank you for that.
Also, the things I highlighted in bold are really exciting. The fact that Relic is growing is a very good sign.
Now, that being said, the NDA policy still drives me and many, many others, up a fucking wall. It's obviously not going to change, which is a shame because it really is hurting the game and its potential. In fact, loosening up the NDA policy would likely do as much for the marketing of the game than hiring more people to your marketing and brand team. There are passionate people that are excited to promote COH2 FOR FREE, but if you don't give them any information to promote, not only are you not utilizing all your resources, but you're pissing off your most passionate fans in the process.
You know, it's fantastic that we have somebody who cares communicate with us, it really is. I think most people appreciate your input. The issue is with general policy at Relic. Things have changed since Company of Heroes 1 came out. In most of my favourite gaming communities, I can expect developers to regularly address the customers' concerns, to engage with them on the forums, to publish roadmaps and have open betas. The Kicksters and Early Access titles especially have turned up the idea of communicating with the playerbase to 11. If 95% of what we see from Relic is "sorry guys, we can't talk about that yet" or something else along those lines, that does not feel like communication - it feels like token attempt at communication to get those pesky, whining gamers to shut up.
It's of course ridiculous to suggest the devs don't care, and there have been improvements (like your presence and improved patch notes), but there remains the fact that the community doesn't have a clue where the game is heading and many people, including myself, are finding it hard to understand why Relic isn't as open and communicative as many other devs. I understand there is probably very little you can do about this personally, but I hope that you see that as whiny as we can be, those complaints aren't without merit.
This also sums it up for me.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond Cynthia, looking forward to what is on the horizon

<Louis CK voice> But maaaybeeee... we're the needy insecure boyfriend with not much else going on? <Louis CK voice> (Not you personally but "the community")
In my head, marketing, customer support and communication are very different things. I think its hard to separating them as they're somewhat symbiotic.
I personally don't need to know about new content under development. What they're doing behind closed doors is their business. Once their trying to get me to buy, I want to be fully informed.
I do need to know what they are doing to resolve the problems I have with the software I have purchased. I understand Relics reluctance of promising something; they always want to deliver on these commitments. However, saying nothing communicates indifference to the needs of your customers. All I need is:
"We're working on problems/bugs A,D,E. We anticipate a resolution within time frame X. Problem B & C is more complicated than we anticipated, a resolution is now scheduled for time frame X".
Good post, I understand that they want to deliver on their promises, it's just frustrating for things that have been an issue for a year plus going unresolved. At this point it is very apparent that Relic is just not a big enough studio to both create new content while continually polishing the game at a rate that I think we all would like. |

Howie that fa show pays off |
I have literally nothing to write about, as a writer for the biggest fan site dedicated to coh2. : \ Makes me sad. I want to hype the game and promote it, but there is nothing to hype or promote. |
cpu im using is i7 4790k with msi z97 gaming 5 mobo
i dont think its the cpu, unless something is throttling and capping it from using 100%. but looking at how rome 2 @ ultra settings is probably much more of a resource hog and i dont think its a temperature issue too, gpu readings are around 58 degree celsius on load, 40 degrees for the cpu.
Okay that's strange, as I have the exact same cpu/gpu as you, and don't have any issues playing/recording on near max settings. |
she don't care.
I think this issue has more to do with Relics policy on what can be said than the community managers willingness/dedication to let us know whats going on, considering that not much has changed between how Relic communicates with the community since Nouns departure. |
Being a long time devout fan of COH2 is like being in a long distance relationship. You hear from the person you love every once in a while, and that is enough to keep the fire burning inside of you just bright enough to continue the relationship. In the mean time, between the long bouts of silence, your mind is left to wander, and your stomach left wrenching. Why isn’t she answering her phone? She is surely out doing massive amounts of ecstasy and getting gang banged in some wild orgy, that’s the only explanation! Maybe she found someone else and is never coming back. Chances are the significant other in this hypothetical long distance relationship has a perfectly rational reason for being unavailable. Everyone is busy and there isn’t always time to talk, but when left in the dark regarding someone they love, people tend to assume the worst. It’s human nature.
I can’t help but feel like I’m in a semi abusive long distance relationship, with Relic playing the part of the heart breaker that goes out on the weekend and forgets to call. Then when she (yes, Relic is a she in this metaphor) finally does get around to talking with you, she vaguely glazes over all of the awesome shit she’s been doing, talks about how EXCITED she is, and leaves me to fill in the blanks about everything else. It’s not very fun. In the mean time I’m left to stew about all of the unresolved problems that have sat around for ages, and without a consistent line of communication, am left growing increasingly frustrated by the circumstances.
So basically that was just a really dramatic metaphor to explain how Relics policy on communicating with the community makes me feel. Does it really have to be this way? Why leave us to our own assumptions (based mostly on past failures, might I add) if there are great things on the way? It’s only a matter of time before people get so burnt out on the hope of better things to come. Without having some sort of rationale as to why the game is consistently plagued by bugs (see what I did there?), a stale meta, and optimization/performance issues.
I think we can all appreciate that Relic is a small studio and that resources are limited, but why isn't our community manager given more freedom to let us know what in the hell is being worked on?
I just want to know what Relic's priorities are now that AA is complete. Are they are actually committed to making the game more suited for competitive play, or has the focus already shifted to the next round of single player content, or more MP factions?
Whatever happened to the whole ESL partnership? There have been zero updates since the announcement. What about the mechanics in the game that makes coh2 frustrating for competitive players? Or the boring, call-in dominated meta? We have a growing list of (often resurrected) bugs, an incomplete warspoils system, and a potentially awesome open beta platform that has yet to be fully utilized. I don't think anyone expects promises, it would just be nice to know what the priorities are.
I’ll conclude my long, cathartic rant with that. How does Relic make you feel, and what are your guesses as to what Relic has planned for the future? I expect nothing more than quippy, one sentence remarks, followed by excessive usage of MVGame and Kappa.
