I have put a ton of T70s against Ostwinds, and in my experience the Ostwind will win every time. I guess with sick micro, and potentially Button Vehicle or Mark Target or something, the T70 could win, but for most people I think it's a bad fit.

In my experience, Mark Target is not an insta kill on German armor and is very important if you're trying to use T3 units instead of SU85. As someone mentioned above, perhaps the SU is the real issue, and not Mark Target. |
I've taken to Mortars and ZiS against MG play, since smoke+consripts (molotov) is really good vs MG. Also Mortars and ZiS are good vs MGs in structures. My preferred path at this point is T2 > Guards > T3 (while my ally goes t4). This helps to give us access to halftracks for frontline reinforcement, the mobile T70, and SU85s for ramming and/or screening for SU85s. |
In a 3v3 someone should always be going snipers with a scout car. You don't need more than 1 scout car, but have the person going snipers get 3 of them. Micro the hell out of the snipercar and you're pretty much assured to force a tech up from the enemy to get their own scout cars. This alone will delay some P4 as that person now has to spend fuel on a minimum of 1 scout car, and sometimes more. Have the sniper user take any one of the guard commanders and get a guard squad out right away and upgrade it to button and destroy the scout car.
Someone should always be doing mgs/zis in a 3v3 too. Everyone regardless of early game strat should be getting su-85 or T-34 as soon as they have the fuel for it.

Yeah, I've been starting to go t2 instead of T1 (also helpful since I'm not great with Snipers, Scout cars or Penal Battalions) and getting a fairly early ZiS. This has helped with bunkers, HMGs in buildings + early halftracks, so I'm quite happy for the moment.
Also, I'm starting to like Smoke a lot now that I'm actually using it. Good vs HMGs and enemy AT guns as well as bunkers etc. |

Every time I try to play the ratio is between 66:33 and 90:10 for axis:ruskies.
^In contrast, I've never seen fewer than 35% of people searching as Soviet, and often see over 40%. I've occasionally seen 60% searching Soviet. It's all in when you play.
This is pretty substantial and from my experience leads to a MP bottleneck in the later stages of the game, where you can decide to get EITHER infantry OR vehicle but not both.

I like the RNG and have had nothing like the "bad luck" described by many posters in this thread. I'll admit I don't play nearly as often as many of you (parent with a wife, full time job and a long commute, as well as occasional side work) but I often find that, if I over-extend a tank and my enemy is paying even a little attention, it'll die to enemy AV fire.
I've seen my fair share of flame weapon and grenade crits, and have certainly seen tanks and AV miss, but for me that's a part of the attraction of the game. Combat can be a little messy. Misses happen, "luck" can be a factor. But (personally) I've never had a game decided by random dice rolls. I've had setbacks and have had enemies have issues based on RNG, but I have never had a game where player or team skill wasn't the determining factor.
Again, I'm not one of the top players in this game by anyone's imagination, and perhaps my opinion isn't valid because of that. But I like seeing RNG. Wouldn't mind if it were toned down, but I certianly wouldn't want it removed. |
