If you attack a point two or three times and make little progress in breaking your opponent's defence then it's time to change tactic. Not to interrupt the flow of this forum, but I've had this issue a lot lately. Any additional specifics as to how to go about this would be quite welcome. My biggest issue seems to be (As Soviets) 1. Germans get 1 or 2 MGs. If I can't flank them properly (through my own lack of skill or bad infantry management) or get a bunker up, I tend to stall out until either I get tanks or they get tanks. Based on what I've seen, I tend to try to go t3, but it seems like T70s don't do as well for me as they do for people in the VODs I watch (hi TFN guys and Imperial Dane, if you visit these forums!) and usually after I upgrade, the Ostheer commander(s) will tend to get out heavy tanks, and I feel like I've wasted my investment. I know I'm super nooby, but I appreciate any constructive criticism that could be provided. I can get replays or twitch casts up tonight if that would help. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Relic, you're doing all right.25 Jul 2013, 13:54 PM I never played the first Company of Heroes, though I loved Dawn of War and DoW2. I was fortunate enough to get into one of (?) the Alpha stress tests, and the closed beta, and kind of fell in love. I really enjoy the aspect of actually "capturing" areas of the map instead of just points as in the DOW games, and I really enjoy the game's more sedate pacing (I was a pretty big SC2 player last year). I consider myself not a good enough player to comment on balance, and have yet (aside from a couple of really bad run-ins with that German strafing run thing) to feel like I've lost for any reason other than my own mistakes or those of my team. As a newbie, I still feel like I have tons to learn, but I keep coming back, even when losing, because the gameplay itself captivates me and drives me to learn the game better. In: Lobby

That is the major, super necessary step 1, step 2 is observer mode so casters can have proper live shoutcasting to grow twitch exposure and make viewing the game more epic, as it should have been at launch. Good post BeltFed I agree, both of these features are necessary from a mechanical standpoint. However, StarCraft 2's community is very welcoming and friendly, and honestly puts the communities of many other games to shame. Really want to stop feeling like I'm losing simply due to lack of understanding of the best way to play. Thread: Soviet Newb Signing in (US/EST)16 Jul 2013, 19:50 PM Good afternoon everyone, I'm a longtime RTS gamer (WarCraft: Orcs and Humans, Tiberian Sun, Total Annihilation) who' recently discovered Company of Heroes 2 after becoming disenfranchised with StarCraft 2's twitchy gameplay. I've been looking for something deep and engaging that focuses on unit control more than mineral mining, and I've landed here. So far, despite the learning curve, I couldn't be happier. I'm in my late 20s, married, and have a young son (with another on the way!) I work as a SharePoint admin for my day job, and am looking for a game to fall into as passionately as I fell into StarCraft. I think and hope that COH2 will fit that bill. I am pretty bad (many 1v1 and 2v2 games end up with German armor in my base, sadly) but always blame my own lack of skill before laying fault at the feet of game balance. I am enjoying the Soviets in this game (the USSR is one of my main areas of historical interest, in fact) and am interested in becoming a productive member of the community. So, hi everybody!
