Yes, with the simplicity of your script, I would follow the advice above |
Hello.
As I enjoy playing CoH3 in a team with some coordination involved, I thought about getting some people together to have a pool to mix with. I would assume this could be a common interest, given the general craziness of any solo queue experience (I remember once a guy barb wired his base entrance. In a 2v2…)
Thus, I ll share my Steam Friend Code: 77116664
I am occasionally playing with a few guys, all very chilled & friendly people, in their late 20s, 30s and 40s (as I am also one of the old breed myself), PvP only, ranked 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, all decent players, all factions, mostly CET evening & weekends.
We ll use my Discord.
Feel free to add for more info or to just play some games! Have Fun!
Cheers,
Hanz

Thanks for the tip. That's the cheapest I've seen as well. Any idea how long that promo runs? I entered the raffle to win a game code and was going to see if I won before buying (not that I will win but I can hope lol)
The only time i won in a raffle in my life was actually at a CoH2.org twitch thing by AmiPolizeiFunk, where I won "Ardennes Assault"... so dreams come true mate
I honestly dont know how long it runs, but given fanaticals strategy, I would assume at least until launch if not beyond. Id risk it for 8 euros. Good luck! |
I found this on HelpingHans channel: https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/company-of-heroes-3?ref=helpinghans
52.79 € cheapest so far
Steam has it on 70 € for me - but I live in Switzerland, we pay mountain supplement |
Hi Guys, 2 weeks before release, I am curious to see which factions create the most excitement. As this is the first CoH of the series starting with 4 different ones, there is plenty to choose from.
I am quite hyped about the new US - with plenty of options to get going, but definately DAK would be my choice here, as I enjoyed PE a lot in CoH1 and there are some good parallels.
Looking forward to see your choices!
Best

While selling cosmetics is obviously no problem at all, I would even argue that selling Battlegroups also is not. As long those are not consciously unbalanced.
The game seems quite voluminous at release with 4 factions and 3 Battlegroups each. If there will be additional content down the line, I am willing to pay for it. If developers dont get money for additional content, the incentive to produce it is almost zero.

I assume their squads split midgame and one half starts fighting your own troops. Quite a bummer. |
Dear Company of Heroes Community,
we have now been patiently waiting for a successor to company of heroes for many years. But what we get delivered is a shame for this series. You have to put the truth on the table as it is, without glossing over anything. Maybe Relic didn't have the money, they know best. The graphics are and remain the biggest mistake on the part of Relic. One has to assume that Company of Heroes 3 should have existed for many more years, and this is where the problem begins. The graphics engine looks old and doesn't keep up with the times. In 2023, people expect a certain minimum, which is nowhere near being met or satisfied here.
I just can't content myself with the thought that I should be happy that there is a sequel at all. I bought Age of Empires 4 just to continue supporting Relic. I spent 20 hours playing the game. But here, too, Relic had already received criticism about the graphics of AOE4, the same error now seems to be happening with Coh3, in a probably somewhat more serious case. But not only the graphics are a problem, but also the physics engine. It's hard to believe that Coh2 looks much more coherent than its successor. Usually, a successor always builds on the strengths of its predecessor, and that's exactly what you don't see here.
Another point is that Coh3 seems very slow, develops little dynamics and the whole gameplay seems very unemotional, which is also due to the bad sound design. There are so many things that just seem wrong that one quickly wonders how far Coh3 will even have a chance.
I've already mentioned several times in my stream that it would make sense to offer the multiplayer mode as a standalone game for free. If reasonable skins were offered in the shop, I would be the first to spend money on them. And so Company of Heroes could finance itself and you could invest more money for further development. Games like League of Legends or Fortnite are the best examples of how well this can work.
People hate pay to win but love buying skins.
Another problem that arises with Coh3 is the attempt to make the series more interesting or suitable for the masses of players. I consider this a dramatic mistake. Likewise, to offer the game on console. It's hard for me to imagine that console gamers tend to buy and/or play games like Coh3. In my opinion, the resources for this are wasted time that should have been better invested in a pure PC game. If gamers are interested in RTS, in almost 100% of all cases there is a corresponding PC at home.
Another thing is the ugly interface. A Coh3 interface should be as compact as possible, but at the same time offer all necessary information and functions. I absolutely don't see that here. In the tech demo you couldn't even adjust the interface and make it smaller like in Coh2. At the same time, customizable hotkeys are still missing, as they have been for many years. The ugly icons do the rest.
What I miss about Coh3 in general is the passion for the game that I could truly feel in Coh1 and COh2 at the time.
Coh3 seems to me like there has to be a sequel, but you just can't bring the necessary soul back to life anymore.
I almost feel sorry for Relic, as I believe they are trying really hard with the resources they have left, but will not be able to meet the high expectations of the Company of Heroes core community.
I have no problem with the negative oppinion here mate, as you clearly are passionate about the franchise to write this elegy.
But I find your use of the word "we", implying that you are speaking for an obvious majority, misleading.
Given all objective indicators, CoH3 will be a massive success and a great third part of the series. Thus the majority of players, including the "competitive" community will be very satisfied. Given the basic design choices seen in the beta, and relics committment to post-launch balancing, it looks like in less than a year we will potentially have the best CoH of all times.
Thus I would kindly ask you to avoid speaking for the community, but rather let the player numbers end of the year make this judgement. |
I will start with improvement:
The new commander system is much better since player are allowed to makes choice.
The tech system again has the potential to be a huge improvement since player again have to decide what to invest in.
Now for the thing that do not look promising.
Forward healing/reinforcement points
I am not sure why Relic has not learn the lesson since it become obvious from the USF Alpha ambulance. Easy healing reinforcing on field and even worse the re-crewing of support weapons weapons leads to static blobbing game, reduces the value of flank attack and if one choose to attack make the winner of fight gain a huge advantage.
Suggestions:
Increase reinforcement time/healing and add a bonus in base sector. That would allow separate balancing of in base and out side of it.
Reduce the impact of trucks by allow them to heal/reinforce only passengers adding micro to them. Further reduce their impact by replacing their ability to re-crew support weapon with the ability to transport them. One could get a temp "AI" crew to load mortars/HMG and tow ATG.
Maybe add an ability for this trucks to set routes from base to a points where they would transport troops automatically.
I feel you make a valid, balanced point. But I also believe it is too early to go down that route.
Indirect fire, off map artillery, etc. destroy these reinforcement strongholds quite heavily. Having your army around a med-truck is often a magnet for being bombed out of the game. Thus, there is a downside.
Would love to see more interaction between those dynamics in the game from high level players in 2v2+ team games, before we claim balance issues here.
The mechanic of reinforcing team weapons from a truck itself is great, as it adds to QoL and keeps your figthing force intact. |
Maybe, there are new players who grew up playing Mobil games and Coh1 widows who are happy with the similarity between coh and coh3, but personally, and from what I'm seeing on YouTube and other sources, coh2 players are not pleased with the coh3.
I don't like the mechanics of the new game at all, and I'm not just talking about the graphics it's to far from coh2 but confess that I actually expected a continuity and not something almost completely new, but it could be my fault.
I genuinely get where you coming from. CoH2 has developed into an amazing game on its decade-old life span. After all its been through, the current state of the game is the best CoH we ever had. And CoH3 will not start on this level. Not easy to let go.
But given the core features, strong infantry gameplay, battlegroup system, all the learning implemented from developing 2 CoH titles, and the clear dedication of relic and the community to make this good - I am very convinced we are going to enjoy CoH3 in a very short time quite a lot. |
