Imagine this wasn't a forum, but a sports bar in Boston. Right now, you're acting like the loud Yankees fan that's coming in and talking trash about the Red Soxs. Don't get me wrong, I think the forums is a better, more interesting place because of your participation. Stay, have a beer, post on topics... I think, at the end of the day, the community just wants better balance. I don't think you can say whether these changes will satisfy that requirement without significant testing. If implemented as is, I think we would be in a better place in a lot of ways. However there are some pretty major changes, and as with the official patches, I can guarantee there are some unforeseen consequences. In: COH2 Gameplay

ActActer suggested that this ability is balanced, reasoning that the ability to controls blobs was king (over cost, the enemy's ability to counter, user experience). I disagree with that idea and used Hyperbole to illustrate the faults in that theory. What am I missing in your post? What are you trying to communicate? In: COH2 Balance

It discourages blobbing and so only blobbers could complain about that unit. With only 40 damage per shot it won't even kill a single unit if it hits it. If you nerf the cannister shot, you remove the unit from the game. The only factor in balance is blob discouragement? OK, lets give the kubelwagen a 5 munitions Sturmtiger shot, 60 range, no cool down. That's fair, right? Because blob discouragement is all that matters. And if you complain about it, your a blobber. Luchs is the only ligh vehicle which is able to get over 40kills. Greyhound is able to do the same thing but only when spends tons of ammo. So Greyhound, 50ammo ability, more fragile, less hp is OP byt Luchs is not? I understood your point. I don't think you understood mine. I was trying to get you to reflect on your position thru a series of questions. The discussion is about the Canister shot ability, not the performance or value of the M8. The performance of the luchs is irrelevant to that discussion. For future reference, direct comparisons to another factions unit ignores too many factors; timing, cost, roll within its army composition, synergy with other units, how each units balance with the other factions, etc... Nerf canister shot only if luchs will be nefred. Still useless vs schreck blob. How is the Luchs performance related to the M8 canister shot? Does the Luchs counter the canister ability? How does the Ostheer counter the canister without access to the Luchs? Did Relic put out some design mission statement that states these to units should be comparable? If the units were mirrors of each other, how would you feel about the Luchs with a canister? Back on topic - I don't like the ability as is; there's no warning to it (no animation or sound). I wish the canister "shot" was a ability with a time duration. Where the output per shot was greater than normal, but didn't one shot squads. Similar in principle to the AP rounds on a MG. I think HMG's need to do a better job at suppressing infantry; whether that's a modifier based on the number of infantry in the cone, or a general suppression buff, or something else, I don't know. I think mine sweeping is in an ok place (not talking demos), but I would not be opposed to a change. I've not heard anyone complain about it before. I understand your point that a blob can easily bypass one of the things that should punish a it. I speculate that if there were more effective tools to deal with the blobs that you would be tolerant of the sweeping mechanism as is. In: COH2 Gameplay
