Do you really think lmg grens need free green cover to hide behind? Do we really want mg42s behind green cover 100% of the time?
Ostheer is ridiculously strong right now. Free green cover everywhere is the last thing they need.

Ok i undesrtand everithing , even how to make a costum match with that player i have just one question ? Easiest way in my opinion: Add them to your fiends list. Create custom game. Invite them to your game. |
Thread: OCF games start just 2-3 days after the new patch16 Sep 2015, 15:12 PM
People have had many weeks to play the balance mod. There's not much of an excuse for not being accustomed to it at this point. Some things are a little silly (tiger range buff) but overall the changes are good. Except poor Brits... Probably gonna be the weakest next patch. In: Lobby |

As an aside, I've found that since upgrading to Windows 10, my TP-Link USB wireless sticks have been a nightmare. Ping spikes, packet drops, and conflict with other wireless devices constantly. Eh, just another thing to add to my list of reasons for not moving to Win10. Not for a long, long time anyways. Perhaps never. |

Not sure on the power-line adapters, I've never used one... but in theory they should be very fast. They just use your power lines to transfer data in pretty much the same way that ethernet transfers data - or so I thought? I don't know the difference from an electrical standpoint but... ethernet transfers data via voltage, I figured the power-line adapter did the same thing? Wireless is strictly worse than having a hard connection for everything. There's just no way around it. Sure it is way more convenient but it is slower, less reliable, less secure... even in a good environment there is a lot that can go wrong. (channel overlap, broadcast bandwidth getting backed up, interference from other devices, objects disrupting signals, etc) Multiple devices using the same wireless router/access point can cause issues, unless you get a multi-band device. Basically, the way I see it... any wireless router good enough to let your family troll around on Netflix/Youtube/torrent stuff while not having any effect on your game is going to be expensive. Or you can buy a $10, 100 ft cat5/cat6 cable and have a perfect connection without having to worry about anything. I'd be interested to see if the power-line things work well these days though. In theory they should be good... maybe in practice they just suck. |
Thread: Router recommendations13 Sep 2015, 01:54 AM
Wireless is terrible. Especially for gaming. If you cannot run a wire from your computer to your router I recommend looking into the power line adapters. One hooks into your router and a power outlet. The other hooks into a power outlet by your computer. For gaming it should give you the benefit of a wired connection without having to run a long wire - as long as your home has wiring that can take advantage of these. If you don't have to worry about interference or any of the other myriad of problems that come along with a WiFi connection go with something by Asus as long as you have the cash to spend. |

+1 Relic has been great these past few months. Seeing the OCF in-game advertisement is a good example of their new willingness to work closely with the community. Let's hope things keep improving! In: Lobby |

Some things I noticed: Early game Kubel micro, I would have sent the Kubel straight to his fuel or cut off. You want to force retreats as much as possible to slow down their capping. Then use the mobility to go repair, repeat, etc. Losing the Volk early. Unit preservation is super important, even more so in 1v1. You have to focus very hard to not lose units in 1v1. I would have gotten out of the opposite side of the house, soft retreated towards your fuel, then retreated to avoid retreating through enemy squads. If you want to control mid you need to have the house advantage, you didn't which caused a lot of bleed you couldn't afford. In the case of the enemy controlling the middle houses I'd attack the flanks and/or cutoff to force them out of mid. Probably should have stealthed the Rak early game to make the Stuart more worried. Dangerous to contest mid against Assault Engis because of flamers/demos. Your early game losses trying to contest mid were huge. Needed to take the chance around 9:30 to get a sweeper and grab mid houses if you wanted mid. Sweeper is always my 2nd muni purchase, potentially first against Assault Engineers. You were often fighting in red/no cover against green cover/garrisoned squads. Overall map control could be stronger. You missed some opportunities to attack the enemy cutoff. You could have more/better use of green cover/buildings early on. I wouldn't garrison against flamers + Pack Howi mid/late. Overall I think your biggest problem was being pigeonholed into defending your med truck the entire game. You placed it in a spot that allowed your opponent to frequently fight in green cover, against your units in no/red cover. In 1s I generally place my med truck in my HQ sector to save the 300 manpower and to not expose the structure. Normally in 1s the maps are small enough that going to your HQ isn't significantly further than a forward med truck (this changes from map to map of course) but if you are going to play with a forward truck try to find a spot that has a decent amount of green cover that you can fight from while simultaneously reinforcing right at that spot. So you can just abuse green cover, spam reinforce and force your opponent to play inefficiently if he wants to attack your truck. Another consideration in truck placement is location relative to the various map sectors. Your placement was close to your munitions, but far from your fuel and not super close to your cutoff. Overall it wasn't a great defensive location and it didn't give you an advantage in map control. If I were to place a forward truck on that map it would probably be right around the strat point between the mid VP and your munitions. There is a spot near the corner of the wall behind the house that should be difficult to push with an AT gun, it gives you a LOT of green cover access via that wall, two easy garrisons, a truck and sandbag to cover the rear approaches and the enemy cut off is extremely close. On the other side of the map there is a spot on a small road between the house and the shed that could probably work. You'd be right next to your own cutoff but have poor access to munitions/enemy cutoff. The USF early game could have been slowed down considerably by sending your Kubel to his side rather than sitting it in mid. Anyways, always try to keep Volks stationary in green cover, and don't be afraid to give up a position temporarily (middle of the map) to force your enemy to move. Try to make him play into your hands rather than letting him dictate the fighting so much. In: Replays |

Queen, I've reported your posts in this thread. Normally I don't mind your trolling, at least not when it provokes interesting/humorous conversation in my twitch stream... But trying to publicly shame a person for consciously attempting to improve their game play is utterly immature and frankly despicable. Alex is taking the time (and risk) of admitting that he wants others to help him improve his own play. Not an easy thing for most people to do, which is why most people stay bad at most games. Alex is taking a mature and difficult approach to better himself. A respectable move by most, if not all, metrics... and you're overtly flaming him for it. Not cool. If you keep it up you're likely to lose mod status in my stream because I cannot support or abide by such brash/brazen behavior. Alex, I'll try to take some time tonight to look at the replay and see what I can help you with. Keep up the good work. In: Replays |
