Im have been getting destroyed by US going with the Mechanized Doctrine and opening with the WC51 Military Truck w. .50 cal HMG ,....its freakin stupid...
With a Rifleman squad inside it can easily chase down and finish a full health Volks or Sturm squad....
Wtf is this shit??? anybody else getting hit by this...anybody has any solutions?
I faced this yesterday on Kholodny, opponent was pretty decent....not knowing it was a thing (massing Cons)...basically the guy went with 6 squads Cons, then some Guards and basically held of till 2x T34-85s.
I won this...going with a heavier T1 opening (3xVolks, 1xSturm, so basically 5 squads T1), into Battlegroup, ISG (OKW mortar), Raketen. Then went straight to T4 for some Obers (2x). I got a 2nd Raketen then got a Panther.
I was able to fight off his Infy with a mix of Volks, Obers and ISG. Volks do really well vs Cons, especially as they Vet.
Then I took out I think 3x his T34-85 battlegroup, using 2 Raketens and a Panther...and eventually 2x Panthers(one of which was the Command Panther).
While I cannot say I am as good as Romeo or Jesulin, I have had recent success with a heavier T1 build.
I go : Volk, Sturm, Volk, Volk ...this means 5 T1 units (when including first Sturm of course).
The reason for this is I was tired of losing out to early US play (Soviets are not as strong early I find) and also I feel Volks scale very well in late game vs Rifleman and Cons when considering Veterancy. This heavy T1 allows me to cap a bigger portion of the map, hold off any early vehicles (with shrecks), better support for my 2 sturm squads and thus secure more resources.
I usually follow this up with the Battlegroup Truck, I find getting the ISG is best. Then I go straight to T4, for Obers and Panthers.
I dont always do this....but it DOES have the benefit of winning me a large chunk of map early on.
Maybe I am wrong in this....curious as to what you guys think...
Dominating OKW play, going with somthing more defensive seems to work well. Some crazy strange zerg tactics (think he had 7 conscripts with SMGs at one point) by Russian. Good mines, with MGs combined arms territory hold.
Been using my own adaptation of this strategy and its been working supreme. I go for a Puma to pre-counter the popular Captain tech thats usually followed up with M15A1 AA Half-tracks, and then get my own Flak Half-track. Been working like a charm, since it kind of forces my opponent to try and go Bazookas, which equals less M1919 LMG's (.30 cals) which also are absurdly OP.
10/10, I do recommend.
I do the same...using the MG34/falshimyaeger doctrine....but have trouble effectively using the Flak HalfTrack...I find myself wanting to skip it entirely or even go for second puma.
