The answer to all the last posts is: Pios= Cons and Penals=Grenadiers, kinda. But a bit asymetric. This also explains the building cost, and why CE are not so good.
(And please send me the replay were 5 Cons lose against 4 Grens in close range.) |
+1 for fast and reasonable patch.
But I say it now: In 2-3 weeks the new Soviet meta will be figured out, and I already see how they are "overpowered" then |
The soviet 200mp builder unit sucks total balls in combat. I don't see why the german one should be able to take out every unit excluding shock troops.
The combat engineer - pioneer balance was way better pre-patch then it is now. Pre patch, the more expensive combat engineers usually won unless they were ambushed by the pioneers. Both combat engineers and pioneers stood no chance against actual combat units unless equiped with a flamethrower.
Now, post patch, both units are equally expensive, and pios do massive damage. When ambushing any unit that is not a shock trooper squad, the pioneers plainly destroy them cost for cost. Now, have you ever seen a combat engineer squad do the same post patch? Both are 200mp...
Fair point, that CE should also be worth their MP. But I actually don't know how good they are. But because everyone says Conscripts are useless now, and I still think in 1 week this will be viewed diffrently, I also tend to think that its the same with CEs.
Besides that:
My whole point was that only because a unit can build stuff, it shouldn't be totally useless in a fight. |
Or, you could put your Cons behind yellow cover, and kill 1/3 of the pioneers while they advance, and then continue to win against them in close combat.
And I really don't think a 200 MP unit has to suck balls in Combat just because it can also build basebuildings. A second Pio could be almost a gren. |
I am a soviet player, never played german except for a few times against one of my buddy that needed practice as soviet.
I won the game and the player didn't play noobish or anything, he went 3 cons 1 shock 1 mg 1 mortar fast t34.
If you never played Ostheer before, you will get easy enemys. You get sepreate enemys for the two factions. Maybe his play din't feel noobish, because both of you were noobish, which means it felt like not noobish xD |
Are you sure Inverse? If I use the CoH2 from my brother, which elo does it use then? |
What about interrogation then?
It shows ALL units for some time and even shows what is where, buildings included.
According to your logic and comparisons, using interrogation should be banable offense.
If I am right it fails often times (like he said in his post (not that I agree on "like a wallhack")), and you need a victim for it^^
Serious question now: Does interrogate reveal mines? And btw, is it not only in a radius and not mapwide? And btw, is it not the same as the scoutcar vet ability, and I thought some soviet vehicle had that ability also. (Still serious questions! I am not sure!).
Even telling that there are mines build is a big advantage, you can probably figure out where there are build by looking where the enemy pios appear after that. And you can instantly build a Sweeper, and be carefull with your vehicles. But I think that would be kinda ok, but I think a not showing mines at all would be better. |
Now that they only cost 60ammo and still consist of the same amount of boom.
Now that they only need 10 Seconds to build instead of 40. (Its really fast, they spend the most time running between the fields.)
Now that the "size" was reduced (I think thats positive?). Anyone knows exactly was this means? Are the 4 fields closer together? Is the Space between individual mines in one field smaller? Maybe both?
But still... they have warning signs... On the other hand you get one small field for 15 ammo.
I had 3 Ideas:
1.normal use in single fields, 15 Ammo seems pretty good.
2.Inspired from Markus' trending post: build a minefield so that 3 are on one side of a sightblocker, 1 is on the other. Block the last with barbedwire. Your pios will try to finish the last one behind the egde, which means the other fields are not visible, there are no warning signs. When an enemy steps into the field: cancel the last square, the 3 remaining will be finished while the enemy is in the middle of them and hopfully wipe his Squad.
Problems: long setuptime (barbedwire) + Piosquad is bound to stay there untill pray arrives. Maybe a troll tactic, or if you really find no other use for your piosquad.
3. Building the Minefield in the retreatpath of the enemy! With the fast buildtime this is a viable option, added benefits are: if the enemy is in retreat, a wipe is very possible, because he does not only trigger the first mine of the field and then stop, but trigger all mines.
Any thoughts so far (on my ideas and in General)? |
Can't wait for first post saying "nerf radio intercept" or "radio intercept is OP".
Don't you think that complaining about intelligence ability giving intelligence is kind of void?
I totally agree with you.
They should make it remove the fog of war.
And tell you what the enemy plans to build even before he knows it.
@Aurgelwulf:
Well, if you are talking about the S-mine field... who needs radio intel about it, it has warningsigns.^^
Edit: A long long time ago there was already a thread about the Issue with mines, and I still have the same feeling. But back then nobody cared, because nobody used the doctrine. Yeah I am a minority. |
An IL2 just strafed through my base with 4 or 5 units in it and since I could reinforce them it didn't manage to kill any of them I think it would have been a desaster before.
To the 222. I don't see how it's useless. Sure it's hard to keep alive but when it can change the outcome of an infantry engagement as a qick supportunit just by doing some damage so that I'm still standing while the opponent has to retreat that's at least something in my book. Especially relativly early in game. I don't do so well with them either yet though^^ One should just know which situations are bad situations to be in as a 222 and stay the hell away. Seems like a situation where skill and good judgement is important, yay
Can't it even block MG fire? I think I did that once. Might be wrong.
Edit: Minefield in retreatpath ftw.
It can kinda block MG fire, I am not sure if it is only with allied mgs or also with your own. Also I think it only happens with the incendary rounds, I blew up one or two allied scoutcars with that already. |
