The real problem with this ability in multiplayer games is a second commander ability:
1x OKW Artillery Flares (constant area LOS)
2x OST JU-87 AT loiter (fast kill)
All you need to destroy any tank force, this combination is way better than all allied plane combinations I can think off.
Edit: Just saw Mr. Smith wrote this already. But it was in a longer text, so maybe it is good to point this out clearly.
Im not disagreeing that this is the most powerful anti tank combination, im just saying that the OST JU-87 AT loiter does require LOS to be effective.
It does require good coordination between the team members though which will only happen in AT games. |

Most important thing which you missed: They can't be driven over, which was one of main volkblob counter.
And 2nd most important, there is AT snare for OKW now as well.
Spios shrecks+volk vause and StG means the potential for OPness is much greater then with volkblob alone as spios acc vet ensures shreck amazing long range accuracy and faust ensures vehicles constantly on the move in the opposing direction.
In short, you have less shrecks, but incomparably more potent AT.
Shrecks on Spios and Faust's for volks = OPness
AT base + 2x bazookas on riflemen =/= OPness

Considering that Sturmpios now use Panzerschrecks.. I think not.
Shrecks on Spios is a big difference than on volks. 4 man squad vs 5 means its way more vulnerable to explosives (just like Pgrens and grens), they are more expensive to buy and reinforce, and they lose ~25% of their firepower with the upgrade (especially since they nerfed dmg of handheld AT weapons vs infantry).
I don't think Spio blobs will replace volks blobs. |
Because it can't be simply disabled with a panzerfaust and then quickly dealt with a sneaky raketen.
Faust won't snare unless hit after the racketen and the Centaur can kite and suppress them so they never can get close in the first place. Plus centaurs shred racketens since they don't have green cover like other ATGs. |
OST JU-87 AT loiter
The ability alone is borderline broken. However, you can mitigate this by making sure your tanks are always at full health (and hugging the enemy tanks when the ability is used mid-combat). It also helps if you keep an AA unit in the rear to shoot the ability down.
... unless the enemy decides to summon two of these abilities at the same time. This will instantly annihilate ANY vehicle present, in the first pass (including Churchills, or any unfortunate AA unit that you happened to be present). Because, counterplay. JU-87 spam waits for no man, woman, child or small furry animal.
Also note that these airstrikes need LOS now which makes a big difference |
I've not played the balance mod, but it seems likely that Brit anti-blob tools will need a look. (Either that or Cromwell has become a crutch for me, lol.)
I agree that brit needs more anti blob tools. Just remember though that volks blobs will no longer have shrecks to the Centaur will be seen a lot more |
Although I love tank crush more than anything else, these changes are necessary for balance. It keeps the M10 tank destroyer a TANK DESTROYER and brings cromwell into a more balanced spot. |
