I would really like to think it's that simple of a case, but I am extremely loathe to uninstall and reinstall Steam just to see if that's something that will get CoH2 worldbuilder to work. Argh, I've had a hateful relationship with Steam since it deleted an entire hard drive back in 2005 when I uninstalled it. But for the sake of science and troubleshooting I guess I will test this out. Identifying the solution will hopefully help others with the issue or even help to get a fix released. In: COH2 Bugs

Thread: DLC pricing. #Milking (Ranting and Suggestions)13 Nov 2013, 21:42 PM The single player campaign and every Theatre of War mission seems like good, worthwhile, and complete aspect of the Company of Heroes 2. Opinions of either are irrelevant: the point is they are finished products. Multiplayer, on the other hand, still feels as unfinished and imbalanced as it has since beta. Every release makes it feel more like an ongoing beta test than a product to expand or innovate upon. While the campaign and ToW has introduced a great deal of general content, featuring a number of units and abilities, these were not available to the multiplayer section of the game. Those units have in various ways begun to slowly find their way into multiplayer through DLC commanders, paid or no. This is kind of frustrating because these units aren't being freshly modeled or coded into the game between every release. They're already there, and have been since release. The main obstacle to their implementation is playtesting for multiplayer balance. And I think this is where things get sticky for people paying extra money: it feels like the following weeks after a release is when that playtesting is actually being done, which makes people wonder what they're really paying money for. (I'm conjuring up the recent memory of the Relic Entertainment twitch.tv streaming from the office of people playing DoW with whoever was watching.) I'll wager that's not a great position for customers to be in from a business standpoint. In: Lobby
Thread: Worldbuilder just crashes instead of starting up.13 Nov 2013, 20:48 PM I was hoping it'd be as simple as that. I'd've thought a fresh install would've fixed that. Still no go. Your attached version worked exactly the same: instacrash. I sifted through the warnings.log but I couldn't make sense of much of anything and it all appeared to be CoH2 related, not Worldbuilder related. I made a copy of it and deleted the original to see if starting up the Worldbuilder would recreate something, and it does not appear to be doing so. It's crashing before it would even know to write to warnings.log it seems. Thread: Commanders and history13 Nov 2013, 20:33 PM I'm all for historical accuracy, but on what scale is history trying to be represented in? The course of every skirmish and battle in the war on the Eastern Front wasn't a fractal sequence of superior German forces overextending in the face of sheer overwhelming manpower. I'm not sure every battle should be a highlight of Nazi failure to invade oil reserves in the Caucasus mountains centered at Baku, nor should every Soviet battle be as desperate an ordeal as were the circumstances for the garrison of Pavlov's house. Historical accuracy is better suited being represented with the types, roles, and functions of units in the game, rather than trying to capture an overarching summary of singular aspects of probably the most complexly brutal period of human warfare in history. Broadcasters generate potential income in the form of new viewers being interested in the game. They're the best form of advertising that developers want to support these days. Worldbuilder tries to load a map with the alphabetically first .module file in your Company of Heroes 2 folder. If you have for example CheatCommands Mod installed, it'll load that instead of RelicCOH2.module and crash with bugsplat. Check if you have mods installed and relocate them while working with worldbuilder. I actually remembered that bug OnkelSam from vCoH, and I made sure I have no mods installed. In fact, I have uninstalled CoH2 and reinstalled it to different directories (I install most games to an SSD separate to my main Steam install) to try and get it to work. This is not the problem. There is only one .module file in my CoH2 folder, and it's RelicCoH2.module. Also, I cannot open the worldbuilder in the first place. Opening the executable immediately brings up a crash error. There's no interface at all to even get to the point of opening maps. Believe you me, if I could do anything with the program other than send Windows Error reports I'd've gone for it. In: COH2 Bugs
