Hello guys,
So i'll resume, I used to be pretty good on CoH, the original game and used to fight pretty often some players in top 500. I don't think I've lost the mechanics, how to not lose units for no reason etc
I've checked a bit the forums and found various opinions about the nations, seems like soviet and OKW are the best to start.
I'm not gonna change my old habits and go with whermacht, I've seen Ostruppen / mobile defence are quite popular as commandant so I'm not sure yet if I buy one or not.
And lastly, is there anyway to do something with this nation, I know it sounds a bit stupid because skill matters but some nations are still better than others which is why I'm asking that.
If there's some advices to take in account, I'll gladly read that ( Sorry if this kind of question has been asked xxxx times )
Thanks
Qaryyx
Wehrmacht are hard going but play most like COH1 faction compared to anything else in game. In a few days (maybe Tuesday) there will be a patch that makes them very slightly easier. Commanders are quite map specific. Ostruppen can be good on building maps but that commander will change with the patch. Commanders with the g43 upgrade are very popular if you want to go grenadier heavy.
Otherwise Wehrmacht is very much based around the MG42 with gren and mortar support and the sniper which is the best in game. Its light vehicles are very weak and situational. When you get to tanks it crutches on the stug which is the best bet for countering enemy armour. however the patch will buff the ostwind so its decent IF you don't fear enemy armour (you've dominated fuel/killed their first tank).
Wehrmacht is a very much control a small part of map and huddle for support - pushing off attacks and then taking ground. The units are very powerful in their specialisations (apart from grens maybe) but are glass cannons. One mistake and the pack of cards collapses.
Generally OKW and BRIT and to some degree Soviet have been considered slightly more forgiving (US is good is small games but struggles in large matches) BUT the patch is fairly large and comprehensive and will shake everything up
