Problem is, you'll do the anti tank mines once against a good player. Then they'll get sweepers. Now what do you do when he uses a sweeper + SU-85 combo?
Hell he could use M3's to clear out "Expensive" mines for very little cost. |
See, I don't want to sound harsh but this needs to be addressed bluntly.
Vet or not it does not matter - The SU-85 has additional range & it provides it's own line of sight. In no situation can you play defensive against SU-85s, other than PAK40's or Elephants which come FAR too late and both have glaring weaknesses (Artillery / Ram & Engine Damage).
All of this can be solved by requiring the SU-85 to have a unit scout for it. As of current it can play aggresive or defensive and switch these functions in a heartbeat. In games against good players I can count on one hand the amount of SU-85 kills I've made with shrecks and I can probably count the same number of squad deaths my PG's have sufferered to SU-85 when there supposed to be a "Hard" counter.
Fortunately Relic are balancing the early game, mid game and then late game and so we can hopefully see something in upcoming patches to address the SU-85 and Stug situation. |
Mauser - Regardless of any points you bring to the table the SU-85 has more health, shoots the Stug before the stug even sees it and has a bigger health pool. In no situation other than a flat out flank from behind should a Stug beat a SU-85, patch or no patch. With the way scatter works even if the SU-85 has a miss it'll still hit the with a high percentage against the stug, small profile or not.
The stug hasn't been changed enough to make it viable it is still unviable to build one you might as well save for a PIV. |
All of these 1v1 situations of Stug vs SU-85 will end up as dead Stug 99% of the time because the SU-85 will see the stug before the stug sees it. The SU-85 has more health, more range and more LOS. |
The big minefield is fine, the massive warning signs which make even the sweeper upgrade pointless, are not. |
1 CP Officer looks very effective. Not many people know about the 30 Muni smoke barrage & Fire up to all squads / tanks nearby. |
Massively increased time between strafing runs, massively reduced damage. More supression. Overall your infantry will no longer get gang raped but just a mild screwing over for a longer period of time. |
Brilliant changes imo. Only thing i wish they'd touched up as well was the ineffectiveness of the Stug 3 and over effectiveness of the SU-85. |
Pqumsieh, is there anyway you would consider removing the blatantly obvious signs of the expensive (although effective) anti infantry minefields the Osteer can build? Or perhaps switching them for a 35 Munition multipurpose mine such as the Soviets have? At the moment you rarely if ever see the AI minefield as it's so damn obvious to spot even if it is possible to make a small 20 muni area of denial. |
