auto installer not working for me.

I've unzipped the maps. Where do I move them to myself? I found the COH Relaunch folder, but I don't see any map subfolders. Or do I need to do somewhere via Stream?


EDIT: Well after many attempts I figured it out. You don't need the installer. If you unzip the maps, .sga files, you can directly place them in the WW2 - scenarios folder. Will pop up after that no problem.

I play all the time. I never wait more than 5 minutes for a game. Don't get all the moaning that these threads spark. The game is almost 10 years old. I paid $10 for it. Best investment of my life if we're talking about ROI. 1000s of hours of mostly fun.

Am I pro? No. But neither are most people. You can get very competitive games in the old relic server 10-15 level range.

At lev 16+, yes it true, there's not many pros playing. If you need that to make your life seem worthy, sorry, look elsewhere. But I don't understand the idea that you need to be stomped by pro so you can say game is alive.

Just in past 7 days I played Complexity, Koda, Lucky Stillet, Mojo, Rilakuma. Plenty of fun, high quality games, lost some, won some. Yes you do meet an occasional idiot who builds only snipers, but that was around in the peak as well (can anyone say Barton). And, many times you get mismatched against total noob, but so be it. sometimes there are only 30 players on at times I play.

In over 1000 games on new server, I think I had technical problems with about 5. A few ghost games and a couple where it does that thing where it lags and then speeds up to catch up. Big deal. Really.

Stop posting and start playing : ) really it's a miracle the game is still there to play.

I hate playing PE so much. It's taken me at least 150 games to finally start figuring them out. I can beat wehr 2 levs higher than me, but I lose to PE 2 levs lower than me.

DevM has great thread on GR about jeep open and 3 rifle start and rush to m8. I find this is the best tactic. I like it better than aimstrong bullet proof because jeep allows you to chase kettens and helps you win early fights.

but, what I've learned so far. you cannot lose any unit in first 10 minutes, inlcuding engy. If you lose a squad even though you may kill 2 of his, you are behind. Learn the retreat paths because your full health full squad will die on retreat to ACs, PG blobs, etc. Focus fire. It makes a huge difference. Once you have enough AT to hold off AC rush, get snipers. Once you kill ketten, get some mines. Dont fight unless you are triple sure you will win. If he goes for your cutoff, don't fight, go for his.

This has helped me be competitive at least with my same lev, but trust me, I still dread seeing PE on load up screen. I know one day, it will all click, as I know once you're pro, beating PE is pretty easy. But some of the cheesy stuff they can pull off, esp with scorch earth is frustrating until you can figure it out.

wow, these are a lot of changes. I think the game is fine as is. yeah would be great to reduce snipers impact and fix bugs like stag, m10, etc. But just play the game.

I hear some of the elite (elitist) players complaining about this and that since the server move. This is the same version that produced many epic tourneys and games. There's no excuse. Just play. The level of play is fine. True sometimes you get matched to a noob or vice versa, but that was true with old server. I saw people streaming this weekend and saw many good, even match ups.

I have over 1000 games logged since server migration and maybe have had technical problems with 30 of them. Every once in a while you get a stag spammer, or troll, or whatever, big deal. I laugh and move on.

It's a game, a game that is going to be 10 years old before you know it. the community is already small. And all this talk about unplayable, mods, etc. splinters the groups even more. Just play. It works for me 95% of the time and usually in a 2-3 hour session I get at least 2 games that are challenging and keep me coming back for more.

Honestly, just be happy that any updates are being done at all, and that CoH1 servers were moved instead of shut down. Nothing will make CoH1 profitable, not an HD version, not a patch, not some expansion. vCoH was absolutely awesome, but time has passed and everything good in life ends. Santa ain't real too, get used to it.

And I'll second this too. I've played about 1000 games since steam migration. I guess all those games were broken then???? I don't get it.

Yeah there's a couple of bells and whistles missing or a couple cool things they could easily do or fix, but I paid $10 for my game 3 years ago. I think I got a pretty good ROI at this point. So I'll deal with a ghost game or synch error here and there. Honestly, out of 1000 games, I've had maybe 30 or 40 problem games. That's nothing.

the community is already small, so any levels of mods, new purchases, etc. will divide it more.

COH2 is not the game many wanted. But no reason to hate on it either. Personally, I won't buy it or play it, but if others like it, good for you. Life is about doing what you enjoy. And if it comes a day where you can't game on COH anymore, then I'll say it was a hell of a run and go back and watch all the TFN for the memories.
