Thread: Biggest Concern for COH 229 Nov 2012, 13:56 PM I suspect i am at least thinking of something very different from you when we are talking micromanagement being what ought to define good from very good players. So think i will refrain from talking about that anymore As for snipers. One of my favorite changes to be honest. Never liked the whole walking around invisible thing. Counter sniping was never fun, always a chore and quite frankly forced your attention away from the entire battle.. Just because of one unit that could move around invisibly. To me, that was not right. Plus seeing most 2v2 matches devolve into sniper spam and such .. Well would to me indicate that it's not quite right. In: Lobby

I would think Strategic or tactical capability would be another way of displaying skill. If not, then the question becomes if one is playing a strategy game at all. At least that would be my point of view. And you are free to disagree just as i an free to disagree with your view As for the sniper thing. In a game about Tactics and strategy. Micromanagement should not be the key. Actual strategy ought to be. If you want Micromanagement to be the defining factor. There are games that suit that desire. I wouldn't just say weather, it's the line of sight. The tank capture, the vaulting. And who knows what they are doing with the doctrines in CoH2. Sniping appearing and uncamoing for longer and longer times is brilliant. In saying that, it could be better but realistically we were so close but Relic ran out of time on the last patch and we have an unperfected yet extremely fun sniper mechanic as a result. Realism is cool but you have to always consider gameplay first. The perfect example of this is red orchestra. For red orch 2, they went for realism over gameplay and the game was a dismal failure. Well that would be your opinion. Personally i always found snipers to be tiresome and not really fitting in the game. Largely because they could move around invisibly. The current of only camo in cover makes much more sense to be honest. Also allows for something more sensible tactically when it comes to something invisible.. rather than just trying to guess and hope you get lucky. And finally as i also tried to say. Fact is, with the new line of sight system. A unit that can move around invisibly would be rather .. Problematic. And would also undermine it. You never try anything new or improve. In which case. You're not really going to find being a Relic fan a fun bit. They always try something different. Why i like them Sure i don't always agree with every decision they make. And some things frustrate me. But the fact that they don't just go "well that is perfect, let us never try to improve" is rather what makes them a game developer i like Otherwise we wouldn't have CoH in the first place. In: Lobby

And the Geschutzwagen didn't have that good suppression. And quite frankly. Without it, the Geschutzwagen largely became irrelevant. I mean i've had opponents spam them. Never a huge problem. It's large, clumsy and poorly armoured. And now, pretty defenseless as well. In: Lobby
