The sniper, counter-sniper gameplay compounds the effects of twitch micro and RNG into a slippery slope mechanic where the first side to reach a critical mass of snipers wins. Fact is, the current sniper mechanics work well for 1v1 but scale terribly in 2v2+. That's not news though. A lot of things scale badly in team games, and Relic has yet to address the issue. Wasnt this cause by the fact that snipers moved invisibly and camoed everywhere? I know sniper based gameplay was a pain in COH 1 and thats one of the reasons I quit and went to play only COH 2, the snipers mechanics here are much better, except for the 2 man sniper team. That is player skill, not the mines fault. If you hit a mine in the middle of the road chances are you will only loose 2ish models. Maybe if you are struggling vs mines actually make use of the mine sweeper? or if you use the mines sweeper, how bout letting them lead your reinforcements? Ever played COH 1? Mines were perfect there, they would punish badly those who dared to advance with low health squads, but would only severely damage and supress full health squads, wich generally forced a retreat. They would win games for you, and they were vastly used. You cant have a minesweeper everywhere, thats not how the game plays out, usually you have one early and maybe two mid game, and they cant "lead the charge" on major engagements because they are frail and will die easily to focused fire. Mines wiping out full health squads instantly is just bad design, dont fix whats not broken, give us vCOH mines back. Hell, if you want to add diversity you could make S-Mines a single cluster(remove the stupid warning sign) make them cheaper but less damaging compared to TM-35 and useless vs vehicles. The way to counter snipers is not to kill them necessarily but to make it hard for them to operate. Focus on countering the supporting troops and the snipers will be forced to hide. The biggest mistake you can make is to dive in after them. If soviet snipers were composed of one model like the german one, counter sniping would come back into play, just like it was in vCOH. Right now you can just keep sniping fearlesly until a model dies, then its just retreat and reinforce, not to mention hyper-speed granted by super cheap sprint, so you are risking very little compared to the german player, wich can lose his equaly expensive sniper much more easily. I really dont understand why they changed this in the first place, the same way I dont understand why they changed mines from damaging and supressing tools to insta-gib semi-atomic bombs, this game improved over COH 1 in many concepts, but snipers(apart from no longer camoing everywhere) and mines went two steps backward. Thread: soviet mines - squad wipes4 May 2014, 23:41 PM Just had a game on Langres and lost 2 full health squads early on to mines placed on cut-offs and chokepoints, wont be playing 1v1s anymore until they fix this bs, its so frustating to lose the advantage built early on trough preservation and enemy squad wiping because of 30 munitions thermo nuclear mines. Anyone has a comparision of MP44 dps vs G43 dps at long/mid and close ranges? Grenadier accuracy at close/mid/long range with G43s: 0.55/0.42/0.37 Panzergrenadier accuracy on the same ranges with G43s: 0.65/0.52/0.47 MP44 acc: 0.56/0.45/0.4 Thanks in advance.
