Based on what I've seen top10 players do, and what my partner and I do when we do 2x USF is using mostly:
- Airborne - the P47 loiter is quite potent lategame, and the elite infantry is strong too. Also paradropping MGs/AT guns is nice.
- Pershing doc - I've seen this but it might not be the best on all maps, due to the abundance of german tank destroyers. But the pershing is very strong.
- Infantry doc (with priest) - this is a staple in 2v2 - Scotch uses it in 100% of his games. the M1919LMG is very strong on rifles, and the priest is an excellent howitzer piece. Mortar halftrack used to be amazing but now it's mediocre I'd say.
- Rifleman (with the easy 8) - I've seen this a little little little bit. Easy 8s are a nice generalist tank if your mate is making specialists (firefly/su85/jackson)
Right now no one picks armour, and recon doctrine seems super rare too. I am reluctant to even mention Rifleman doctrine on the list above since I think it's really the first three that you see. Ever since the Calliope was nerfed a few patches ago, that commander is also pretty useless. Calliope is just an expensive and shittier version of the Katyusha.
Thank you!
Airborne seems really good in my testing so far, since my Soviet friend almost always goes for T1 Penals into T3/T4, I really need to cover the MG/AT gun department and normal USF teching isnt very friendly since it forces me to choose one of the two, also Paras with dual lmgs are a beast indeed. |
Hello!
After almost a 3 year break, I came back and started playing a lot of 2v2s recently with a friend who plays mostly Soviets, and I wonder what are the best commanders/strategies I could be using as USF to maximize our game potential.
I was a somewhat decent(lvl 16) 1v1 player in vCOH and kept the same skill level when transferring to COH 2(wich I played a lot less), but 2v2 seems like an entire different beast to me, and I find myself lost many times, never knowing what is really effective, whats meta etc...
Thanks in advance. |
I have problems listening to balance opinions from someone who never build heal stations... |
Sadly very few people have access to this commander, and can comment on this, that probably wont change in the next 1 or 2 years due to this abysmal drop rate.
I dont remember it being different from vCOH stuart canister shot in Alpha... |
It needs a forge/craft system where you can do things like transmute 3 useless duplicated common bulletins into a random uncommon item, and so on.
Almost no one will ever trade anything remotely useful for a shitty faceplate, so trading wont solve this issue alone. |
How hard is to make a "forge" system, where you can, I dont know, melt some duplicates and get higher tier items? This already exists in so many games and solve a great deal of frustration.
There must be some kind of game data that determines drops.
What are the odds of this happening by chance. 6 times the same faceplate (assuming you had it before).
Also things like my totally anecdotal theory that the NKVD commander drops surprisingly often.
Just got this one today, while playing US, my first commander drop after bazillion games... |
Would be ok as 2cp+ call in designed to replace fallen vet riflemen later in the game.
Indeed, would be a nice fix and still be a useful ability.
Too bad the last time I got to use this commander was in alpha... |
Imagine if this was implemented, obersoldaten would get plasma swords. |
To avoid the "P2W"/"Paywall" crowd - the Commanders MUST be EARNABLE in game - and no - a random luck generated event isn't "earnable".
You reach a certain rank/prestige - there's your reward.
You don't want to wait/earn it? Oh - then that's $3.99.
DONE.
Relic gets it's DLC fix (that for some reason they can't seem to fathom is as popular as the plague with their gaming community) AND Players get a CHOICE in how they get WHAT THEY WANT.
COH2 amazes me in how it doesn't give the player a choice in many facets - this current DLC policy is the epitome of forcing a one way decision on their player base....again.
Almost any suggestion here would be better than the current system. I think it takes more hours to find a commander than it took to find a legendary item on early Diablo 3 days, thats how bad it is right now. Add the fact that most commanders are absolute crap and you have this massive frustration scenario.
The p2w whiners are usually the same ones that always said they would be glad to pay a monthly fee so Relic could keep the game balanced and have dedicated servers, they will always complain no matter what.

I think the mortar halftrack wins that award... but the pack howitzer is a close runner-up.
I dont know, I find the white phosphorus barrage somewhat useful if you get a lucky shot, same goes for Ostheer incendiary rounds.
But yes, apart from that, MHTs suck, its indeed a close fight.
