1- IS2 had 240dmg. It was one of the worsts version of the unit.
2- If you increase the damage but you nerf the RoF you are actually creating more issues. By reducing RoF, you get less reliable results against both infantry and tanks. You would also had to nerf AoE as an increase in damage would mean more wipes.
3- 160dmg sources are easier to balance around because most units are balanced around this figure. Basically all infantry have 80HP. Vehicles tend to have values which makes them survive X amount of 160dmg.
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
As i recall, issues were not of low ROF and high damage, but of low penetration. U could wait loong time before it fires and bounces of Pz4. And that was trash. But now IS penetration is very reliable. So if we increase damage to 200, and decrease ROF. DPS would be almost the same, but burst damage will be higher, like a heavy tank should have |
Oh, and i thought KT is 260 fuel))) I never take it when i play OKW, not because it's very expensive, but because i just don't need it.
But 280 fuel is too much for this unit. Maybe 250 is fine. |
I don't know, but i think that in high skill plays bofors is inferior, because:
- it is counterable by mortars, AT guns, Smoke + bundle grenades, Smoke + FHT.
- it is stationary
- it locks AEC, which i think is the main problem - u get bofors and then u get wrecked by enemy LVs everywhere else.
Or maybe i'm using bofors incorrectly... |
Can anybody please tell me, why Tiger 1 and IS-2 have 160 DMG? Isn't that ridiculous that heavy tanks have same damage as the mediums?
IMO, for the sake of game being joyful, I'd want my heavy tank to bring some kabadaboom when it hits enemy armor. But a massive 122mm shell, or a 88mm tiger shell still hits the same as some Pz4. It's frustrating..... |
Maybe we should keep creeping barrage, but make it shoot faster, like 3-4 secs to fire all rockets? It's like a blitz strike to enemy team weapons, not likely to wipe, but likely to cause chaos))
|
So a 122mm round is more like a howitzer shell, because the sheer exploding mass is much more and the BOOM effect is much stronger. That meands we can try to give IS-2 gun a howitzer-like properties - HE, moderate (but not high) penetration and deflection damage. |
I think we should try Stug E instead of brummbar, but also I think that 80% of OST players will want brummbar back. The reason I beleive so is that brummbar is very hard to kill if microed well, and StuG E will be an easy prey to any TD or allied medium tank. So let's try and see. |
Yeah it used only HE shells but this was often enough force to blow panther turrets away)). So mechanics should be like a howitzer gun. Much alike KV-2, but a little less DMG, and less AOE damage vs infantry. KV-2 has 240, IS-2 now has 160, so i think 200 for IS would be fair. Make penetration from 250/230/210 to 200/180/160, but add a deflection damage of 100. And see how it works. |
My point was to give KT switchable rounds, one better vs armor bad vs infantry, other bad vs armor and good vs infantry. Not with exact parameters of sherman rounds or ISU. |

Recently I tried to kill a OST werfer with Su-76, and was really upset that i cannot 1-shot it like any other medium can 1-shot rocket arty... |
