I personally like the asymmetry of not giving all factions weapon upgrades. It leads to an issue with Conscript scaling, but that could be solved instead via global upgrades.
Reduce reinforcement cost by 1 or 2 for molotov and AT grenade tech, unless PPSh is upgraded.
Maybe even let Cons buy a little veterancy with munitions after T4 is up, so losing the squad is easier to recover from, like other factions.
Lots of options other than making the factions identical. |
I think since the mod is a Win Condition, it can't include .abp edits necessary for new weapons to be visible.
However, I love your work and thoroughness looking at issues and inconsistencies in the UI and Text. I hope your suggestions are taken very seriously. |
Hi, everyone-
I'm working on a mod that includes a strange unit. It's infantry, but plays the role of a tank. There are a few changes to the UI I'd like to make for it.
-What determines the row a unit appears in in the Squad Control display in the upper right? I want it to appear in the vehicle row. It seems to be in the .ebp, but I can't find the exact thing to change.
-Is there a way to add in a new cover icon? The way that Tommies/Osttruppen get theirs is using a "Cover icon suffix", which doesn't seem possible to create with a tuning pack.
Thanks! |
One of my commander mods gives the British a Sherman IVB, which is the 105mm version. Less overlap with other British vehicles.
Also, I want to point out that the British received Pack Howitzers via lend-lease, so that would be an option for heavier fire support. |
The Stuart in my suggestion was tuned to be better vs infantry than the AEC. What the Greyhound is to the USF Stuart, this Stuart is to the AEC. |
-Panzerfusiliers at 250mp seems like a mistake. A volks replacement sounds like a cool thing, since volk spam is common, but if the new unit is going to be a viable alternative to volks, it has to be very good or OP. We saw this with JLI. Higher price would be fair for a support unit.
-This would be a good time to rearm Rangers with Garands to make them more different from Paratroopers.
-SVT drop is awkward. The only infantry units that could benefit from it are Conscripts, Combat Engineers, Royal Engineers, Rear Echelons, Pioneers, and Osttruppen. Every other unit picking it up is either receiving a sidegrade or downgrade. I know the drop is for the airborne theme, but is seems that it mostly encourages reverse lend-lease to teammates playing as other factions. Same design issue as the Vickers drop, but less useful. Why not just make it an upgrade for Conscripts and Engineers?
-What's with the new "unbundled" versions of abilities? Dozer Blades without 76mm Sherman, Volk MP40s without Sturmpioneer Flamethower.
-Rifle Grenades for Rear Echelons sounds fun, and a good alternative to Flamethrowers. I did the same thing with my Japan mod to fill that combat niche. Overall, the amount of reused stuff for USF is disappointing. The rifle grenades are really the only cool thing. |
The Ostheer fatality "Shrouded Bombing Run" calls in a pair of planes; one drops smoke, the second drops a bomb. Problem is, the second plane is a Soviet IL-2. |
The Sturmtiger treatment is the way to go. Spread out the damage, add more effects.
I revamped the B4 that way for my first Commander set mod. I lowered the damage to 580, added suppression and vehicle stun effects, spread out the AoE damage, lowered direct fire cost, increased accuracy. It's really great now. |
If Time on Target had a reduced delay before landing, it would be more useful against moving targets without being easier to use against emplacements.
Since it has a very small spread of shells, it would still be possible to move units out of the way. |
An armor increase for it would be nice. Right now, it has 110 vs the regular P4's 180. The centaur and cromwell have the same armor, for instance (though the centaur is much slower).
I'd like to see what happens if it's bumped up to 140 or so. That would give it a small chance of deflecting Bazookas, so it would improve AI performance, but it still mostly helps against low-pen units like T-70s.
