Thread: Maxim Spam + SU85 (aka attack move win)30 Jun 2013, 07:20 AM Yeah if you do this you're exposing yourself to counters earlier are you not? Say the germans will have a chance at grabbing enough territory for a flamer HT. You also risk getting your conscripts run off by MG's which puts you behind in capping. As is your maxim can set up in the face of an MG42 and kill it - even if it's pinned! My feeling is that this strat is strong because you can force retreats via supression and then set up shop on their fuel/muni points. This is harder to do early if you mostly have conscripts? Opponent did it by flanking and exploiting the narrow arc of the maxim + the fact that it takes a few bursts to supress. I think it was more due to me not playing well rather than any real weakness to the strategy though. In: Red Army Strategies

Thread: 1v1 maps & map priority?25 Jun 2013, 15:41 PM I must say I was a bit disappointed with the 1v1 maps available at launch. Of the current crop I don't really think anything apart from Kholodny is really suitable for 1v1 play. The others are simply too big, which makes sense since they're also team maps or simply outright badly laid out (Pripyat with its chokepoints & river). Anyone heard anything about plans for more/better 1v1 maps? This is really substandard :-/ Also an option to deselect maps would be most welcome, but the interface does not even seem to have this at all. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: Matcher by ELO or how does it work?19 Jun 2013, 08:06 AM I've played COH since it came out, and i've played COH2 beta since it opened (although not that extensively). Yet I very rarely get a matchup of even skill. I get rank noobs as well as people 20 "levels" above me who suck. I win way too much (maybe 75-80% of the time). In the old COH i would get perhaps a 4-5 game win streak before i was matched with a player who could crush me. I am clearly not good, so should the system not find someone good who can kick my ass? Does anyone know how the system determines matchups? Is it random or ELO based? Are changes planned? Are there just too few people around for good matching? In: COH2 Gameplay

What makes COH unique is that cover really matters. It makes for semi-realistic gameplay too where running around in the open gets you slaughtered and having good cover actually lets you hold out till relieved. It also rewards good positioning, by exploiting cover you should be able to win engagements where you're inferior, it should not only be about stat matchups and use of abilities. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: CoH 2 Server Stress Test27 May 2013, 07:22 AM Jump back to quoted post26 May 2013, 11:55 AMCrackBarbie I feel that the consequence of a lack of target tables is starting to show: In the first Beta, atgs were too strong vs light armor, but adequet vs heavy armor and in the current beta, atgs are adequet vs light armor, but too weak vs anything heavier. I felt this too, my AT guns seem to bounce off tanks a lot, leading to some veeeeery long duels with tanks. Front armor duels with tanks seem off to me, parking your tank in front of an AT gun should be BAD, it doesn't seem like that now if you have your facing correct. In: Lobby
