Do you plan to keep this updated on a more or less permanent basis as patches are released? Should there be a page that lets the reader know what patch the document is updated to for future use? Thanks!

It's eternally updated and relevant as long as I play the game. Frankly, it was a pain in the ass every time a patch rolls out because the AE doesn't update until after a week so that I can double-check that the stats in the changelog are what they say they are.

To be honest, what drove me in the first place was to win internet arguments.

Sheet 12 almost finished. More or less just double-checking the formula.

I don't think I post much in the forums, since I primarily stay in the coh2.org Discord server. In any case, to break my lurking, I've decided to post a common resource used in the server, a google spreadsheet.

It contains numbers extracted from the attribute editor manually. The other databases like https://coh2db.com/stats/# and http://www.coh2-stats.com/ are quite dated, having been updated last 2017, and 2015, respectively.

It has a few additional resources like calculators. Frankly, some of the explanations I put in might need to have a bit more detail added in- And I'm genuinely welcoming feedback in that regard. It began as a solo project, but I've started borrowing other people's time, as well. More contributors welcome.

As of now, it has 12 usable sheets, with WIP sheets, as well.

Why do people keep bringing up assault grens when the suggestion in the first place wasn't because Ost lacked cqc options, but rather the fact that Ostruppen (and only ostruppen) have absolutely no counters to Hit the Dirt, which is a completely free ability?

The point in the first place was giving Ostruppen the option to swap all their long-range dps at BP2 to be a squad that's practically 6 pioneer models' worth of dps with the ability to grenade while keeping their negative RA modifiers.

It has nothing to do with overlapping with assault grens because while they both use MP40s, Ostruppen are inherently far more inferior in quality, have to pay for their upgrade, and have to wait for BP2 for said upgrade.

It is, for all intents and purposes, the ability to pay munis for a 6-man pioneer squad with none of the abilities of a pioneer except for building trenches and bunkers, and the ability to throw a simple stick grenade.

You can't rush them like assault grens because they can't sprint. They're muni-hungry if you rely on grenades and they're overall more fragile than regular Ostruppen because while they share the same negative RA, they need to get close and take more damage just so they can even do damage.

All this, so that ppsh conscripts can't just oorah right next to their faces and Hit the Dirt and kill enough models to force an early retreat- And only if you chose the MP40 rather than the LMG.

The thing with doctrinal cqc units/upgrades "as a cqc solution" is that the Ostruppen doctrine tends to be something picked at the game's beginning. That means there are no other options aside from Ostruppen and vanilla Ost units.

This is because players benefit the most from the doctrine because you can get more squads up early in the game to cover more ground- Which is pretty much the core of Ostruppen strategy.

As for non-doctrinal options like PGrens, sure. However, the point of this suggestion is to allow you to convert existing Ostruppen into cheap CQC infantry that trades their vehicle snare to become more effective against their cost-free counters: Hit the Dirt and garrisons.
