Spam with paratroopers, dropping them somewhere behind enemy lines. Never lost a model even if dropped into forest, btw.
Now serious, those are real strats that will work against both axis on at least semi-crowded locations, or on the other hand, empty and large, like Rzev.
The main problem with USF is only one mainline infantry unit, while all others factions can get their specials quite early on, like soviet guards, german pzgrens and ukf sappers.
Also, unlike @CODGUY says, volley fire is actually good, when it is used as supportive ability as proposed, and not like no-brainer soviet "ura", or even-more-stupid OKW ass-nades - one can't just solo out an sturmpios with it or force-retreat that MG-42, instead you can supress that blob of infantry, while they busy munching all those troops of your allies. (dang, i need to make a meme about that)
BTW, german tech superiority? Oh yes, take those fast-moving 85mm howitzers or these BAR-blobs, or 120m-range, fast and agile TDs and just trow them away, they never existed anyway.

You just need to use it from distance and from green cover - or at least the fighting position. Also, it will supress your enemy depending on sheer amount of lead you sparying into them, so if that RE squad got something big, scary and fast-shooting, then it will supress much faster. |
Couple of those bugs occured to me as well - mortar ones are extremely annoying. Yet bulding from houses I would consider more of a feature than bug - gotta use them in my games now!
Actually it would be great, if one could barricade or reinforce building with engineers from inside.

I wonder, does anyone actually uses UC for CARRYING things, like troops? Mostly i've seen it only to be transformed into fiery WASP later, or to serve as mobile suppresion platform. But i wonder, if you can put in engineers squad, flank to FHQ-medbase of OKW, then get some demochardges and take a quick getaway.
Or flank MG/pak-wall it with commandoes inside and wipe it out of existance. |

We cant compare them, like, at all. M-42 is the same cannon(little bigger and with shield) that on t70.
Does t70 pen PZ4s and stuff like Zis-3? No.
Does it has a special role? Yes.

Аs one man once said - Mines win games. Especially if you playing as Soviets, which have just aversome multy-purpose mines. They are cheap, can do a lot of damage and quick to plant.
Also, maxim vet1 ability is extremly useful, when facing blobs - it literally pumps out whole box of ammunition without any cooldowns.
Like,
-"Vadim, folkssturm are coming!"
-"No worries, komrad-komander, we got little teleporter inside our ammo boxes, aimed straight at ammo factory in gulag!"
So if you spotted that blob at max range and then popped ability, then blob wont get too close for lava-nade and wont stay too far, where grens can snipe your maxim gunner.
Also-also, demochardges still can be a thing, if you hide them properlly. Almost no players never ever moves their cameras(alt+moving your mouse), so hiding them behind builindgs, wreckage and some green covers can work in your favor.
Also-also-also, flame artys from commanders and CE flamers are quite effective - while first are simple area-denial, CE in green cover can hold blob off for 30-40 seconds, while doing great AOE damage. Combine this with maxim ability, and whole blob is sitting in open of nowhere, slowly burning away.
Also-Also-Also-Also, if your opponent blobbing, then he obviosly went for jgtiger commander with sturmofficer. Focus him, and wholle blob will retreat as soon as officer model is killed. |
Sustained fire is a cool ability that makes the gun somewhat usable but it shouldn't be a vet ability given is God awful performance without it.
+1 here. Would prefer sust.fire as basic ability and Sprint(as dushka) or something new for vet1. |

As said before, not only maxim have such kind of problem - that deathloop happens on every MG in-game. If you want mobile supression platform as Soviets - go for Meatgrinder upgrade and keep it away from grens.
Also, this is not a problem - this is a feature.
Also, maxim is rather cheap and easy to spam(rip maxim spam meta 2015), its setup-teardown time is small. It vet1 ability is useless at most time, but can help alot, if you are against giant blob of fgren/pzfusil/ other cheat and mass okw units - it does not only suppres quicker, but allows to do massive damage.
To counter ANY MG in game, you should flank it. To prevent flanking, you should position it in choke points/buildings/etc.
If your Maxim forced to retreat, then you doing something wrond(don't forget about conscripts ability to reinforce squads) |
