Recentlly I struggled alot against Urban Soviets 3v3 - not only because of my own lack of skill, but also because of constant pressure of enemy's on my teammates.
Got 4 games - 2 in 2v2, and 2 in 3v3. Both times in 2v2 we got ourselves locked in spawn area - mostly because squad of engies and Maxim rushed closest to our spawn brickhouse, then turning it into FOB or whatever this abomination name is, while his teammate harrasing our squads in the field.
If first time we somehow managed to pull it tru(mostly because of "teamwork" andy my flamenwerhfer 251), second time it was pure cancer - his teammate called in 120-mm mortar, efficently countering every one of our mortar teams.
In 3v3 it was a little bit different - mostly because when i spotted these puny little flags, I called for help, so we focused it with 2 mortar and 2 leigs - brought it down in seconds.
So my question is - is there any NON-DOCTRINAL methods to prevent/counter FOB-spam? I mean, flametruck is cool and all, but she is rather weak and need some time to get these cheesy flames into work, while 45-mm AT-cannon acts like bloody Bofors, turning into full-auto mode while close to FOB.
I want to try 50-kg bombdrop or some sort of static arty, but they both unlocks only at 5 and 9 CP while FOB can be spammed from very beginning.
Artillery officer proved to be efficient counter strat with it vet1 heavy mortar barrage if dropped on top of building, but again - it is doctrinal, if I to choose him, it will deny me of my other, preferred commanders. |
.... 222 is capable of shooting planes down somewhat reliably and you can get that instead of ostwind....

It is not a bug, it is most probably a balance "feature".
In comparison with OKW Heavy Mechanised truck, Bofors have higher RoF, which means it will be supeiour to OKW main AAA, especially when Brit is playing SimCity instead of CoH2.
It could be fixed, howewer, with same measures as OKW-AAA - just give it two separate modes - one for ground, one for air with cooldowns and stuff. |
Even after lurking in tread, cant really understand, why Puma is compared to God-Almighty-M36?
Almost every game i got with USF, M36 is acting like mainline tank alongside with blobs of riflemens.
Puma is more like soft counter to some of "early" mechanised units like AEC, t70 and maybe cromwell. But she clearly cant stand a chance aganist t-34s or shermans, cause it can be penetrated even with Shermans HMG from rear and sides, while trying to flank.
I personally use puma as "Deny" button for light tanks and hard flanking/spotting - because it is called in off-map, u dont have to wait and watch as your vetted grens get slaughtered by these unkillable T-70s. Buy as soon as soviets get their AT-nades or USF/Brits pull out their Zooks/PIATs, puma is no more viable.
As long as it is spamable, it is good. If she would be transferred to T3 prod, it will be no longer viable - why get almost useless puma, when you can get STuG or Ostwind for almost same price? |
Can't say much about AI-Stuka run, but AT-Stuka usually tend to do real magic outside of Hogwarts with its 37-mm canons, if dropped properlly.
Also, 50-kg bombdrop is very usefull as well - dealing with blobs of rifles if against USF - just make them retreat to rally point or to their magic healing truck and bomb them into Stone Age! |
I think the Marder was based on the case from the Pz2. There was no new-working for that tank destroyer
Аctually, it depends on model. Marder I was based on chassis of captured french tanks and halftracks. Second model was on Pz II chassis, and third one was built on a Czechoslovakian LT-38, more known as Panzer 38.
And even more shitstorm caused the main gun - on some models it was PaK40, on others - Puma-like 50-mm cannon,a lot of captured Soviet 76,2 ZiS was used as well.
It is more like of ersatz-tank, those with Hetzer and other easy-to-produce and cheap tanks kept Germany floating during last years. |
Well, there is actually a point, however i can only imagine this happening in 3v3 or 4v4, when Soviet/Werh player goes full arty spam. Then, this situation might happen.
USF and Commonwealth bases cant be destoyed, cause they dont have any real engineers or sappers, IMHO. Second echelon is more of support unit, and Royal Engies are more of demolition team. They dont have neither blueprints nor tools to build trucks for Commonwealth or sand-bags bunkers for USF. |
You see, comrade, you dont just fight with pios all the time. Actually , my preffered setup for early game is: 2 pios, 2 mgs. When i got all i needed for slow but steady research, i just call back one of my pios and after that going or for greens, or for pzgreens, depending on map.
Also both OKW and Wermacht have possibility of early tech - 222 on 3-4 minute, or Luchs on 5-7 minutes. For comparresment, T-70 for soviets or AEC for brits will came out only up to 8 minute.

And, btw, german rifle nade is actually an remade HEAT grenade, so it should not have any sort of timer. At least i couldnt find anything about HE-rifle nades in wermacht. Correct me if im wrong. |
I wouldnt agree with previous comment at least on one point: about "tank-hunters" commander, especially with introduced changes.
You see,
1)this commander already have a lot of low-CP abilities, like Mines, AT-cons package, and so on, so there is no need in others.
2)You already can get armor detection with AT-packadge, so there is no need in that one
3) Veichle repair trainings or cons repair kit doesnt really fit with concept of "tank hunting". Why should we call in tanks and repair them, if we are actually hunting them?
4)Tank traps are extremely underutilized - in around 120 h. of gameplay i haven't seen anyone using them, exept ONE time. However, at the same time they rather useless, taking a lot of time to construct and providing green cover for 3-4 models on one side only, when in conscript-version of sandbags you got enough place to squeeze in at least 8 models.
5)supply drop and recon aircraft for me still doesnt really fit into doctrine.
However, it would be great if they would return that "Skavenge" package for pios, or implement some sort of M-42 AT-gun dropoff, like in american Paratroopers doctrine.
As long as it seems for now, ML-20 is long to construct and doesnt really pays off well, while B-4 is pushing you to to more risky, but at the same time, more achieving stratagies. With it you cant just bombard enemy lines, waiting for those PZ-4 hordes to steamroll over your defences, you are actually "hunting" for these tanks. |
