Note that in the past I found that right after the introduction of new maps, new maps actually are played relatively often and then tend to drop off after a month or two. I agree with this statement except for 1v1 maps. The last time we had some fresh 1v1 maps they saw little play. And maps that were heavily vetoed were getting more plays. I don't think 1v1 players want to risk their rank on an unknown map. So the new maps tend to get more spectators in game etc. Bummer that 3v3 FOW was not in during this rotation. Thread: Matchmaker is completly rekt lately14 Nov 2019, 19:15 PM I would suggest looking at SPECTATE and looking up the highest rank players when you are playing. During slow times, there are not a lot of high level players playing 4v4. Maybe 1 or 2 games will be higher than 12-1 rank players. In: COH2 Balance

So, basically you are better off with concentrating your forces in the center and attack the resource points from the center outwards. As stated above, 95% of matches I have spectated are just head butting matches within the fuel sector. No attempts at all are made to flank. This map is like General Mud or Steppes, you need patience and smart flanking. Most players just rush the fuel and headbutt a wall. Gradually I am seeing people come around to it as they learn the map. I cant tell you how many matches I have watched waterfalls of infantry running straight into an MG they already know is there. Where if they just moved 30 meters to the left or right, they could easily over run it. Or matches where people start spamming indirect then get run over by mobile infantry. This is a fast and mobile map. It shouldnt be played like Red Ball. Most matches I watch, the player who pushes the center gets an extra muni and VP. They end up having a muni income almost double the enemy. You are also then in a spot to attack the cutoffs. The first few days in rotation, White Ball was a little more popular than Road to Arnhem(R2A). Then it started to switch and Arnhem was becoming more popular. WTF Play the original Quake on a PC just 5 or so years after it was made and the whole game is accelerated. When calculating time between frames, it was happening too fast and the code went ape shit. As Katitof eluded: In the war for who has the fastest videocards, drivers were optimized for the coolest current games and the code that runs them. Newer cards are not optimized for old games because no one is buying a card based on its FPS for a 7 year old game. And the coding methods change for each generation of cards that comes out. So newer drivers may actually break the game. You could start with the OLDEST driver your NEW card has available and see how it goes. In: COH2 Balance

The level of anti-aliasing kills my FPS when smoke and fire exist. Play with those settings, start with off of course. If you have an nVidia card you may be able to force the post render antialisiaing FXAA in the nVidia control panel. The lobby videos lock the frame rate to 30 FPS. So just below 30 is to be expected. The widest part of the map at the front line is 566 meters. Which is very close to Essen Steelworks and General Mud. Steppes is about 600m but much of that area is blocked off. For comparison: Crossroads is approx 242m Rails and Metal is 250m Redball is 309m The road running across the map does not leave room for area separation at the front. So the front line may feel smaller than it is since you can easily rotate towards attackers? Most matches I have seen so far: - Each side VP and fuel have one person fighting over it. - Very few flanks are attempted. Usually MG, sniper, and mortar battles. These games support your theory that it feels smaller than it is to some extent. In: Map Sharing
