Top players in a game are usually the most biased ones and as such will always, consciously or not, advocate for their favourite faction. The people in the mod team must do what they feel like is the best course of action and use the top players as a general guideline as to whether they are going in the right direction. Forums are also good, but the biggest problem is that some people have no life outside of some forums and as such spam nonsense 24/7, therefore "polluting" and drowning out good ideas... but yeah, this whole thread is nonsensical. Can act as a forward retreat point: Big plus Has smoke nade: Big plus in any game mode Has a barrage: Great in both defensive and offensive plays Has a recon plane: Great in offensive plays Can carry two zooks: Great in any scenario Major is a majorly underestimated unit. I only play USF in competitive 3v3 and I've never ever been let down by it. Sometimes it does die quickly to a random shell but you know... fuck it, build another one. Heck, when I play some leisure OKW in standard 3v3 with whoever joins my game, I know that I have to find the major later on to kill it's forward retreat. Don't talk shit about the major. Thread: Lefh Counter Barrage Controversy27 Mar 2021, 00:59 AM CB on it's own is not OP or anything. The tracking part is. I don't think anyone cares if the ability requires 2 or 3 clicks or w/e. However, since most teamgame maps are lane-y, CB can effectively barrage a large area, further amplified by the LeFH range (most 3v3 maps it can cover the whole map). It can easily lock out any sort of mortar or howitzer or mobile barraging unit play. Most of my games, playing vs LeFH, the shells landed a couple of seconds into the barrage, so it's quite a fast reaction too (again, lane-y nature means not a lot of rotation for the lefh). Which need infantry dropped flares which take forever to start the barrage. Basically only used against completely static things. Best case scenario, locking a point for a bit. Introducing the base howits from brits into the CB argument really shows the bias and lack of understanding from your part. EDIT: Besides, it doesn't matter as the mod team is not really thinking anything through so I wouldn't expect any substantial reworks to anything. Or nerfing a broken ability. Even the latest patch is mediocre at best, with only highlight being the QoL changes. Commander changes will probably be quasi at best. In: COH2 Balance

It saves you a grand total of three clicks and some map awareness while targeting whatever it wants, which might be a lone mortar squad, when a well placed regular barrage in a target rich environment would usually yield better results. And something being micro-less isn't really the best argument against it, because autofire for many units (mortars etc) is equally micro-less. I would like to replace but, but actually because I think the ability is meh (it won't hit its intended target most of the time), not overpowered or whatever. On some maps, sure. On 1v1 maps, definitely. However, try playing port of hamburger or Redstain express or similar maps, against a well organized team. You'll see that due to the density and the overall small area, the CB can have a blast and pretty much shut down any sort of indirect play, while also threatening the frontline units. Hamburger mid and bot VP come to mind. The three areas between the base and the VP, only 2 of them are at all viable to have units in (VP and closest to VP, like the munitions). Putting anything there will guarantee some wipes as those are chokepoints and a high scatter machine like LeFH is destined to hit something and wipe it. LeFH keeps katyushas, calliop, paks, mortars in check while the rest secure the VP. Or you risk complete wipes. In: COH2 Balance

Alongside werfer and stuka which counter all infantry team weapons, and low range/accuracy of mobile arty on allies, CB serves no other purpose than to be blatantly toxic in teamgames. Don't know how many upgrades I had to skip on my infantry only to pull off a combo with a random teammate to nuke one LeFH out of 6. In 3v3, there will always be a premade team where one guy will spam LeFHs and they will pretty much leave one part of the map alone (top or bot VP) and just spam arty on the middle and the closer VP to win the game. 4v4 is an even bigger cancer. But I am skeptical that this doesn't happen in-game under normal circumstances. Usually if I queue retreat back to base I don't get hit. CB won't target normal infantry. I'm pretty sure CB will follow the mortar along the retreat and will shell the base. At least, I've retreated plenty of mortars due to CB and still my base got shelled (winnekendonk usually). It will track through FOW, this I have confirmed multiple times with Scott. Launch barrage - move the scott to the furthest safe corner (usually behind the base) and it will still get shelled, albeit with large scatter (can be a second-hand danger) In: COH2 Balance

Mortars or pakhowitzers and such are pleased to know you just need to move them out of lefh range once they fire their barrage for safety. LeFH reacts within 2 shots of the pak howi, even less so if already facing the direction. There is no play against it outside of destroying it. Most 3v3 maps are small enough for LeFH to be all seeing. 2v2 you'll seldom find more than one LeFH. 4v4 there will always be one guy that builds 8 LeFHs and just counter barrages everything In: COH2 Balance

I know that if there is an enemy LeFH spammer, trying to constantly recon/barrage it is pointless as they will keep spamming more than your munitions income. It will track my scott and keep barraging it constantly. On maps where the LeFH is not bound by range (Hamburger, Winnekendonk...), it renders any kind of mortar/pak/scott play pointless. Wehraboos will most likely defend it with "whataboutism". It's actually been said plenty of times that it's a broken OP ability but nobody dares touch it because the axis fans would go berserk. So try Jacksons, Su85s and Fireflies. Thats all you need ;-) It does have AT if it hits directly, but yeah, no AT otherwise. All in all it's fine. It's one of the best stock heavy tanks to deal with infantry. Don't use ATs against it. Flank with T34/Sherman/Cromwell or use TDs at range. Any sort of infantry play is highly advised against it, unless flanking with handheld AT squads (brumbar is not good at turning). In competitive I only play USF and in standard custom games, OKW. Here is how I deal with it: Rangers with 3 zooks that flank after I snare it. (or echelons) Jackson at range. If the brummbar is well supported by pak40s that can deny your Jackson, then I use 2x pak howi to displace the paks before I move in. You can be sure that the brummbar won't move in on it's own if there is a TD on the field. EDIT: I play 3v3 exclusively. I never buy the USF AT gun since I've never ever been able to rely on it, unless I sink a ton of munitions in it (penetrating shells), and even then you need to actually use it, which means that the most important first shot will usually bounce, unless you're actively using the AT gun and use the ability.
