Grens and volks don't stand a chance against rifles if the fight starts at around 10-15 range. Even if gr/vl are behind cover and rifles are advancing up to the cover, they will win it (unless advancing across red cover) early on.
Such scenarios are, coming around bushes or buildings or such sight blockers.
I would know, I pretty much play USF in 90% of total games (a few custom lobbies OKW and that's it). Rifles own grens and volks close range.
Problem is, seldom are maps where you can start a fight at 10-15 range and close in.
Most 2v2+ maps are fought cover to cover at ranges 15-30, where rifles lose AND those maps are quite open, meaning you can't easily sneak around or wait.
Another problem is that pretty much all 3v3+ maps have perfect MG42 positions where MG42/34 can lock down a whole area.
Of course, that's not a problem later on, when you have smoke on captain/echelons/major/lieutenant, but early on, unless you want to go for a mortar (which is risky AF as the USF mortar is by far the weakest and usually just behaves as a pop eater, better to wait for pak howi; as much as it was nerfed, it's still better), you need to carefully plan each attack and use echelons to scout it out. That's where pathfinders come in. The sight is very much needed to see pios AND to see the MG42 so you know from which angle to come.

Lol. On Ettelbruck, OST can park a brummbar behind the top VP wall which is unbreakable vision/shot blocker and just keep bombarding the VP with ground attack, completely uncontested. Anyone losing to a path spam should L2P In: COH2 Balance |

Thread: USF Pathfinder spam is too efficient (2v2)7 Apr 2022, 00:10 AM
So many words, and yet nothing has been spoken. Pathfinders are cancer only if you are not the type of person to adjust and act accordingly. It's got one thing going for it, win early or... A strategy that focuses on winning early is not inherently OP. Every 2v2+ USF player focuses on winning early. What should you do? Oh, I won't play pathfinders so that one MG42 can easily lock down a whole sector with pios due to retarded map design? And then I would like to go against heavy tanks and Panthers and long range LMG grens that melt everything? Oh I know, I'd very much like to play for the late game win The whole idea that because one strategy is extremely early dependent, is OP, is silly. Playing pathfinders you have: a) No snares b) 4 man squads c) dropped BARs later on I could easily say that equally cancerous are 222 spams on large maps or kubel spams vs USF on maps like Steppes (no cover, no OKW bleed, heavy USF bleed). This whole thread is nonsensical. Just a circle jerk between axis-oriented players. Imagine the argument: "A strategy is focused on early game and therefore OP"... fu*k me sideways and call me a bi*ch but it's fu*king moron*c In: COH2 Balance |

Not for the feint of heart. Pak howis eliminating with extreme prejudice. KT thinking it's unkillable. Planes getting shot down. Lefh PTSP. And as always. Zooks aplenty. Port Of Hamburger 3v3 47 minutes Ranks 10-240 In: Replays |
Thread: Toxic brit player "let's see stats"... worst xD2 Apr 2022, 21:13 PM
Man this is one long ass game. 1 hour. Toxicity in the team chat is at an all time high. Complains how we are noobs.... asks to check stats... Man this was funny. Lost in the end. Not a fun game. Lots of heavy tanks on a lane-y map. Still, was not a bad game. I just love toxic players that flex how they are the best and end up having the worst stats. Brit player, if you are reading this. Thanks for the laughs. In: Replays |
Thread: Is the British AI total Brocken NOW ? 2 Apr 2022, 12:36 PM
Soviet AI - best -> Spams T34s and conscripts (better than most players), and goes a lot for cutoff. Captures points Wehr AI -> Tied with Soviets for #1 -> P4s and grens and pgrens, tries to capture lots of territory OKW -> 2nd (3rd) best USF -> Can't use AP ammo on Shermans, attacks P4s with HE shells, uses major and echelons as frontline barbarian units Brits -> Spams encampments on the frontline and doesn't use cover for IS. Thinks Centaur is good against all tanks. Funny how Relic didn't update the AI throughout the years In: COH2 Bugs |
Thread: OKW Mech repair speed31 Mar 2022, 10:48 AM
I've seen double sturmpios used to great effect on many-a tight maps. Especially by top10 (premades and solo). They are not as burdened as people make them out to be. Later on you won't fight them as much, but they can still cause a world of pain. 3 models cost 90 MP In early game they can take out 3-4 models of rifles and usually retreat (if they don't win that engagement) with 2 models. That's 60 MP for you, and 84-112 MP for USF. Given how REs are dogs*it tier in combat unless you get lucky (can happen), you'll have volks vs REs the next fight in most 3v3 maps. Assuming that the player goes 3x rifles vs 3x volks. Now volks are dogsh*t tier close range, hence why you absolutely need to keep them behind cover, and they'll win against all but IS behind cover. But all in all, repairs are fast on OKW. Whether that's justified or not, won't comment as I've never ever played OKW competitively. But they are fast, no doubt about that. Considering SPios after the 15 minute mark. I mean, they can equip shrecks, put away the sweeper. Double SPio is 16 pop, so it is on the costlier side (compared to the usual 10 for CEs, REs...), but I think they justify the pricetag. Might be overburdened in 1v1s as the combat is spread out across the whole map, but in 3v3s+, where it's much denser, they are absolutely disgusting how much damage they can do in a short amount of time close range. Hell, Lady, you witnessed when my REs were firing point blank on a static, AFK, MG42 squad for 10 seconds or so, and only took out 2 models, until you came and shoo-ed them away. Spios would definitely wipe in 3 seconds or so. All in all, unless some major patches come, changing such core ideas, like repair bots would be too much of a hassle (hence the need for a major patch). Spios do need some of that firepower given how volks only trade well on long range until the upgrade, but then again, you play ettelbruck or Lienne Forest spawn, you'll definitely get double SPios and will most likely lose that part as any faction (assault sections commander wouldn't lose I think). Thread: Extremely difficult Top 3v326 Mar 2022, 14:24 PM
Didn't think we'd win this one. The PTSD from the recon planes in other 3v3 games is strong here. Extremely difficult 35 minute game with random lag spikes (I assume for both sides as I've seen some weird "afk" behaviour). Absolutely hate the spawn and the elevation and the cover placement. Why can't people design maps like Whiteball and General Mud? Will never understand the idea behind the 3v3 map pool, nor why relic didn't add more maps and give greater leeway to the mapmakers considering what to add/rework. In: Replays |
