One of the tougher games I've played. 50 minute carnage on Redball. Dodges, offmaps, massive pushes. Didn't even have time to plant mines. Do I even plant mines? There are LEFHs shelling constantly. Chances are, most mines will get triggered sooner or later. And I'll never forget how I lost an almost full HP tank to a direct LEFH shell on a moving tank over an allied mine. Poof. 50 minutes of extreme carnage on Redball. Ended up using all 9 of the control groups just to micro everything past the MGs, raketen walls, LEFHs, Brummbars and other sh*tfuc*eries. Ranks axis: 10-200 Ranks allies: 30-60 Fu*k me sideways and call me a bi*ch, this was not an easy game In: Replays |

Thread: Why was thompson riflemen never a thing?25 Apr 2022, 09:36 AM
I'd lie if I said that I tested stock Rangers without upgrades before and now, but what I did do, is play with them a lot. And I do mean, A LOT (90% of my games are Heavy Cav in 3v3). So... I've played enough times with both carbines and garands in real in-game scenarios to know the difference. By the time they come out, the new M1 Garands are better than the older carbines. You won't win confrontations with vetted upgraded mainlines cover to cover but at least now you can take down a model or two on longer ranges (mostly medium). Still, the change was mostly a gimmick. I mean, I've put tons of replays on here, and I think 95% of them are me playing Heavy Cavalry and I always play with rangers. Using rangers without tommies or zooks or captain is unadvised. Rangers with carbines were close range, but most of the maps favor mid-long range engagements, and thus you need to use the no-smoke-rangers like bulls. Just rush and hope for the best. Like I've said, Rangers are best with tommies, no doubt. BARs are trash on them and zooks are situational. Stock rangers are just a no-no in anything beyond 1v1. In 1v1 I think they can pass as the number of entities is not large, so engagements last longer than in teamgames, and these longer lasting engagements are more likely to be medium-long range cover to cover where I think the new Carbine is better. In teamgames you mostly need a lot of DPS to force retreats first, as the population you're going against is 200+ ... + arty + indirects + .... In: COH2 Gameplay |

Sanders once said the 10 pop stayed due to triple zooks. Which logically in turn means that AI Rangers could be worth only 9 population, but well. Stupidest argument possible. If actually using zook rangers to some great effect except for having them parked near the points of interest to defend against tank dives, then yeah, but assaulting anything with triple zooks means that only a slight micro is needed to keep the tank out of harms way and bleed rangers. Of course, noobs can still fall for the smoke cover sprint combo and claim how sprinting rangers with zooks are OP, but that's mostly a 4v4, lower rank problem. Since I play with rangers a lot, I tested them plenty of times. You can forget triple BAR on them, even if the drop chance was 0%. For some reason, 180 muni upgrade is worse at 0-20 range than a 90 muni one. The only way they can win against obers or falls later on in the game is if you somehow manage to teleport within 5 range of them. Which is not difficult in 1v1 I guess, but 2v2+ downright impossible. God forbid Sander nerfed fussies, which he always spammed and blobbed when I played against him. A squad that can: a) Run'n'Gun perfectly b) Snare from across the map c) Give sight d) Give even more sight with flare e) Great nade f) In amazing commanders but when I tested rangers and made a post on how they lost to other elite units at all ranges except extra close range (and only if you charge over yellow cover constantly); coupled with the fact that the only utility they get is a nade. For CP3, 10 pop and 350 manpower, nobody in their right mind can claim that rangers are not a UP unit. Not in a sense that the tommy rangers are weak, because they are not. Tommies can shred everything at close range. But in a sense that the performance does not reflect the price. Rant over In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: Coh2 not launching24 Apr 2022, 12:27 PM
Had this problem on my past laptop. The game ran well for months, then I went on to reinstall it to the SSD. I installed it, poof; It either: Bugsplat on startup with the log saying that some billboard was missing or sth (not the ad-billboard, but the always-facing-camera billboard) OR Stuck on that screen like in your case. Everything was updated and nothing was changed besides the installation being on the SSD. When I uninstalled, I also used Revo uninstaller to find registry entries and hidden undeleted files so that I really do COMPLETELY uninstall COH2. What I tried: Verifying plenty of times, reinstalling plenty of times, clearing the "Company of heroes 2" folder in My Documents/My Games Deleting random files and verifying. Run as Admin. Different launch options... What helped: I think constant reinstalling helped solve it. It was completely random. Don't think anyone can guess why sometimes COH2 starts normally, and other times it will continue bugsplatting or infinite looping. Here are my configuration .lua files from the COH2 folder: https://www.coh2.org/file/20181/settings.rar Extract them into the MyGames/Company Of.../ folder. Replace with the current system and user config lua. Maybe it helps. I know that games like Command And Conquer and BFMEarth had such problems where some systems didn't want to or couldn't write a proper system configuration report to adjust settings, meaning the games never launched. Extreme cancer on a small map. Top 40 premade 3v3 team vs randoms. Seldom do I play such cancerous games but this one takes the cake, breadcrumbs, and the whole table. 40 minutes Winnekendonk In: Replays |
Thread: Has anyone noticed Grenadiers are really good?18 Apr 2022, 00:10 AM
Directly comparing mainline infantry is useless. In context grens are probably the easiest mainline inf to use. But it's not like Rifles or Cons can't be used to great effect. And once your opponent knows what he's doing with Rifles and Cons LMG Grens suddenly feel a lot weaker. I would say in a game where both sides play sloppily (aka 99.9 percent of games played) LMG grens are superior cuz they don't require much decision making. Playing them is basically purely reactive. You attack move. If your opponent doesn't close in you just keep attack moving. If he does close in you retreat once he's close. Rifles take a big turd atop of grens, volks and fussies. The only problem is, most 3v3+ (and plenty of 2v2) maps don't really have proper sight blockers for the rifles to close in. It's mostly medium-long range cover to cover fighting, where volks and grens will win. And once the lategame comes, sight blockers get torn down and it's basically obers/grens/fussies blobs that dominate the field. BAR rifles are great close-medium range, but truth be told, you won't have a lot of close-mid range firefights that last longer than 1 second, come late-game. Another thing is, USF doesn't have a brummbar or anything like that that can put a ton of hurt on blobs, safely. Against soviets, it's tricky to blob, as you can get wrecked by a good katy barrage. Vs USF and UKF, you can easily; especially since the calliope nerf which put the final nail in the coffin (extremely risky to use) of that commander. Now everyone plays airborne, which can give you that long range firepower + (a big plus) sight to spot those wide-ass-arc MG42/34s, which, on most maps, can lock down entire sectors. Grens definitely do not deserve a nerf, but rifles should get a bit more DPS on medium range (just medium). Brits, I won't comment as the majorly-major majority of teamgame brit players are worse than a retarded headless chicken that got fu**ed by a big black cock. Soviet cons are pretty much perfect (also, majority of soviet teammode players that go for penal builds are extremely bad and inefficient, seldom are players that can pull off a penal start in 3v3+) In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: What's this new strategy for OST?12 Apr 2022, 13:48 PM
I don't think such build can work in 1v1 but I'm guessing if you play a lane-y map like Redball or Rheine or some other 3v3+ map, you can get away with it. In: COH2 Gameplay |
