Thread: 5man grens OP?8 Jun 2020, 12:54 PM VSL Grens are not OP and probably the reason why Axis won so few games because the late-game is almost non-existent compared to Jäger Armour for example. At least that's my theory. I don't really know why this doctrine is so popular now and it seems more like a case of "group-think" sheep mentality that everyone is using it now. I agree that it's meta for a reason in 1v1 but in 2v2?? In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Making OKW Battlegroup viable8 Jun 2020, 12:08 PM Another constructive thread derailed by Vipper and Katitof. RIP. What doesn't make any sense about this thread is that OKW went mechanized and Axis still got absolutely deleted in UTT2. OKW is just too weak in general and it's not because of teching but because Infantry Sections, Riflemen and Conscripts all got buffed recently while OKW got less MP to start. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Making OKW Battlegroup viable8 Jun 2020, 11:46 AM Putting Luchs into T1 would still not make it viable because the reason you go Mechanized is Stuka + Puma which are the strongest part of OKW's mid-game. I don't even think the Luchs is a better unit than the Flak HT because both units get hard countered by AEC and Stuart so neither can do anything on their own. The Luchs as it is now doesn't have enough lethality to justify the babysitting it needs. At least the Flak HT offers great reward for good unit composition and micro. If it survives you still have great AA for late game and a unit that can cover your flanks against infantry. In: COH2 Balance

The sample size is too small and as Katitof rightly said Axis were doing just fine before the finals even winning a few games here and there. Nothing to worry about IMO. Balance has never been more realistic and historical. I think the main problem was the Axis players just being too bad and as usual just relying on their OP Panthers to make dives without support army. I see the same in my 4v4 games all the time. You constantly have to guard it, you have to place it in the right spot, you have to know if you can put one down or not, etc. Most mortar pits in automatch 2v2 end up a bad investment because people put them down without being able to defend them. Then they have to retreat to base once and the mortar pit dies instantly because all it takes is one flame grenade and a raketenwerfer to kill it fast now that brace has been nerfed. I would argue that normal mortars are much easier and safer to use than mortar pits. So yes mortar pits do take skill to use effectively. In: Lobby

Mortar Pit was considered average or bad by most people and just because we now had plenty of tournament games on Wolfheze it is somehow OP? I watched most of the games of the UTT qualifiers too and outside Wolfheze I can't remember a Mortar Pit being that big of a deal in any of the games. The real issue is the combination of Infantry Sections being slightly too good and OKW being slightly too weak now that Grand Offensive is not able to carry them anymore. All the other doctrines are also mediocre compared to what the other factions have. The only exception is probably Overwatch on open maps when you can vet up two Jägers. The rest is just meh.
