Man being able to instantly take off almost half a tank’s health is such a burden. Shit’s rough.
For real though, don’t underestimate the power of its alpha strike capability. I mean if you compare it to allied TDs it’s slightly cheaper than 2 of them (except su85s? Don’t remember their price) and does slightly less damage than 2 of them in one shot, at greater range, with a far greater health and armor pool than both of them combined (lul). The only downside is that it’s slower. |
But muh commander upgrade.
IMO all Cromwell needs is slightly better scatter to make it a bit more consistent. AoE isn’t terrible when it actually hits something but it oftentimes feels very inconsistent and misses completely a lot. It’s also one of the only mediums without a pintle upgrade (the other being the t34 but it’s hull and coax mgs are really good for whatever reason).
The one other thing to note is that Cromwells aren’t the end of the line for Brit armor though. They do have higher tier options like the comet and Churchill and usf doesn’t do theoretically Sherman deserves to be slightly better for the same price. The one caveat to that is that the comet is pretty underwhelming now and I’d much rather build centaur + firefly a lot of the time. |
Ah yes the great burden of being able to instantly take almost half the hp off a tank from a third of the way across the map. And yeah, why would anyone ever want high frontal armor on their tanks? Such silly design. |
IMO its AT capability is in an ok spot for the most part, however I wish it would more reliably hit shots on the move, as its accuracy is pretty abysmal while moving, more so than other tanks, or so it seems at least (especially for being a "cruiser" tank). It's anti infantry really needs a buff though; a main gun scatter decrease would probably be enough in that department. All these things pretty much apply to the cromwell too IMO.
Also I was under the impression the comet's veterancy bonuses aren't all that great but I don't really remember. |
Are you nerfing or buffing JLI? Getting 2 snipers at 50% crit is stronger than 1 at 70%... especially with that 0.9 cover bonus
No it's not. 2 snipers at 50% is definitely a step down from 1 sniper at 70%, especially since (I think?) the kar98k has more raw dps than the g43 without accounting for the crit. If the .9 cover accuracy stayed, it'd be a little less so, but a) it should really get removed and b) it still has kind of bad dps and it'd be critting at a much lower threshold. |
You could just not go tier 2. Go battlegroup and get 1-2 leigs and you can just barrage it to death or smoke and push with infantry and raks. |
Jp4 lacks pen also. It's a great unit, but it's not comparable because allied TDs are pen machines but the jp4 isn't. (great unit tho, I don't want to see it be an over buffed monster)
I guess that's true. Although it doesn't matter a ton as in most situations it's engaging pretty low armored medium tanks/TDs and it has a pretty decent firerate. |
Panthers have way less armor and health, and tiger is under performing due to mass allied tank destroyer spam. How come axis barely have non-doctrinal tank destroyers.
>barely
>both axis factions have 2 kinds of tank destroying tanks
In all seriousness, both have the panther and ost has the stug, which is great against anything other than allied TDs (since it gets outranged by them), and okw has the JP4, which is all around solid, comparable to allied TDs, and only hampered at all by the fact that it isn't turreted. |
Not to 1 each. Like 2 of each thing^^
"Snipers are meant to be countered by LVs but those are absolutely useles against them"
Em what? Ever seen a m20 chase down a sniper? Guess good ol Friedrich has a different opininion on that
If you really let a sniper get chased down by an M20 (which also only has 320 health with skirts) with mainline infantry that have the fastest and longest range snare in the game (and have it from the get go) you've messed up pretty bad. |
the 0.9 bonus was given exactly for that, so they could still snipe model in cover like a normal sniper, that's the point of the sniper rifle, in my opinions it does not create that much of a problem, it's not like the old ober STG that ignored cover and dealt tons of damage
it's just used for crit confirmation, giving it to pathfinder would make them more viable too, in the first place they are supposed to "replace" the sniper of the other factions, do u see sniper missing while the enemy is in cover ?
In theory, that makes sense. In practice, it negates cover and just incentivizes blobbing on both sides (on the allied side to make up for the fact that you can't use cover and will lose at any range except point blank because of it and on the axis side to counter the allied blob). Real snipers are slightly different since they're only 1 man with a garbage target size, so you at least have to support it or kite with it. A lot of people actually hate snipers as a rule since they do ignore cover as you pointed out (I personally don't agree with it to an extent but I just wanted to bring up the sentiment). I defintely don't think an actual infantry squad should be able to do it with the crit kill. |
