If I had to guess it has something to do with the position of the model vs the position of the squad center. Similar to tank rounds leave the tank barrel, but distance for penetration and accuracy are measured from the center of the hull. In: COH2 Gameplay

Royal engineers are only 10mp more but come with more dps and better vet, more survivability with 5 man, etc. Nobody is complaining that royal engineers do too much damage though, only pios because they compare them to the literal worst squad in the game. All the engineers are fine and are pretty balanced within their factions. Looking at a 1:1 comparison in combat stats between these utility squads is a bit silly. No one cares about RoyalEs because by the time the UKF player actually builds them, the timing where pioneers are good is past. You'd see more complaining about them if brits started with them and they had 42 sight for whatever reason. pios aren't out here 1v1ing para's, but the fact that they can handily beat REs and CEs while providing better utility and defense than those squads is stupid. Most of the time there are always a follow shot from ATG, tank so... 240x0.3=72, 240+72=312. That being said, the space you gain isn't exactly game winning, and it locks in your doctrine. It's pretty similar to kubel pushing while sturms close. Yes, use your teammate and blob up firepower like in the lienne photo and win, or hold back for 30 seconds and wait for your next squad to come up. This strategy dumps all UKFs manpower immediately into royals which are mediocre on the close without the UC. UCs can't drive up to blobs or they'll get fausted past the 4-5 minute mark. 1-2 minute mark if there's an OST player/fusi's. At best the UKF player will have another squad in 2 minutes after accumlating 270ish manpower, build time, and then the walk to the front. That's plenty of time to make a play no matter if you're waiting for your 3rd squad at the start of it. In: Lobby

Bad engagement or not, if you're floating 90 seconds in when you have 2 squads you'll probably lose map control. 2nd photo orange goes for SwS after he had 2 squads and a rak. Locks in firestorm and if the plan is mp40s has 1 volk. From the photos you've given, these players just don't look that good.
