Very one ability that useless it "Medkit" from grenadiers.
A smarter Ostheer player would know to use Medkit wisely to keep his troops on the front all the time, rather than pull them back all the way to base, render them no where near the frontline for up to 30 seconds, and you are literally 1 squad less fighting the enemy.
Don't underestimate the power of the new medkit (Yes, the new one. The previous one was sh*t, I agree, but this one is way much better). Of course, you'll need med bunker later on, but that doesn't make medkit useless. It give you the power to keep squads on the field much longer, rather than constantly retreating due to low health, combine that with command bunker or 251, your army can maintain a formidable frontline presence.
The only thing I would suggest to change is the Infantry Awareness on the 251. The ability fits the 222 since the 222 is a reconnaissance vehicle, but not the 251. Maybe give the 251 the ability to passively deal a small amount of suppression (Similar to that in CoH1). |
Struggling at the start, fighting on 2 fronts, but still, coming out victoriously in the end... Didn't expected to see mass Commandos and Conscript though... Quite a rare screen, away from all of the Land Mattresses spam and Penals blob.
P/s: The map is Lisores River. Players well within the top 600 (Not against complete newbies this time... Phew! That last upload was quite embrassing ) |
If anything, it would be other factions adjust to be at the level of Ostheer. To be honest, the massive power creeps from the Western Armies just make the game from a slow, careful-planning, heavy-strategy game to a fast, slugfest-like, throw-everything-to-VP and literally limit the in-depth strategy potential it's once had.
The reason why MG42 was moved to T0 was due to 2 things:
- It helped open up new start-up: Assault Grens, Osttruppen (Before that, without T0 MG42, Assault Grens and Osttruppen weren't even a thing)
- Ostheer is a faction heavily relies on support weapons. Grens wasn't meant to be extremely good at combat like Rifleman or IS, they were meant to support/cover up support weapons (MG42s, Paks, mortars) while the support weapons being the damage dealer.
In all honesty, if you replace MG42 with T0 Grens, things might change even worse for Ostheer since Grens wasn't meant to fight on other mainline infantries reliably without support weapons, which could lead to unreliable Grens spam (Not effective, but doing so just encourage them to do so, which isn't good at all)
P/s: Has anyone consider making all Ostheer' support weapon units 5-man? It sounds much fiter than 5-man Grens (Heavy support weapon play, after all) |
If only Grenadiers use Ober's summer models, then my life will be completed (Well, most of), Grens' summer models seem a little odd, like camo for all at all times? ... But yeah, I love the way all Ostheer infantry units' models due to the fact their units get 2 complete different models in summer and winter, rather than the Western one where they just throw some snow on it... too lazy in my opinion. |
Mech Assault is one of the best commanders the Ostheer has, if not the best, so it's viable in any situation if you ask me.
Btw where is your signature from?
If the commander really do live up to its name like that, then maybe i'll give it a try then. Oh, and my signature? Just randomly got it on Google, that's all |
... unless you load up on Elefant Bulletins.
Well... I did equipped the "Elefant gain 10% faster veterancy" along with double StuGs bulletins so... yeah... I mean, Elefant is like the best heavy tank/tank destroyer the Wehrmacht can provided... Still, how good is Mechanized Assault now? (In 2v2, by the way)
P/s: I put Encirclement in for anti-camping and for epic moments ... Stormtrooper is just one part of those "epicness" |
How is this Ostheer commander performs overall in 2v2? Haven't actually try it or use it a lot, but since I have to be fighting in quite a lot of urban maps recently... I'm considering put it into my 2v2 loadout. However, i'm really struggle at which commander to replace it with: Encirclement, Jaeger Armour or Fortified Armour? Is it worth it to put it in? |
I think creating your own commander might lead to balancing prolbems. I´ll give you some examples:
Hydra Commander
Osttruppen call in
Relief infantry
--> Get Osttruppen for your Osttruppen lost.
And of course everyone would use the recon + bomb strike combination. Featured in the Elefant doctrine, yet we don´t need to encourage everyone to have this everywhere, probably even in combination with a Tiger or T-34/85.
I mean, we already had Conscript + PPSHs package + Rapid Conscription so... Also, consider that you still have to wait till like 6 CP for Relief Infantry, and Osttruppen will get shreded late game by upgraded units so, it can't be that bad!
The combination you mentioned cost quite a lot already (240 MU) and it took up to 2 slots out of 5. In addition, I did propose the value system to limit the strength of a commander... Maybe add in the category as well (Like this ability is for early game, that one is for late game, etc.)... It can works, I believe it can! |
Yep! That's the one alright! That with some ability value and value limit for a commander... Bam! Done! Customizable commander! |
You know what we need?... The ability to create your own commander... I swear I once saw an image showing that you can created your own commander. I think you can take the CP elements into account, so you can't have a commander filled with Elefant + Tiger Ace + Command P4. Or maybe give each ability/call-in unit a value, then have a limitted value for 1 commander... I saw it once, man! If only it comes true! |
