That's what I'm talking. They are not bad as long as come Bren and BAR.
But then, that does not justify the idea of them getting upgrades. They aren't meant to be combat-effective! They are meant to quickly shore up a frontline for other troops to deal damage.
I'm more keen on the idea of making them more like Cons late game (Harder to be hit) than giving them upgrades. Just give them better RA buff at vet 3, maybe along with some slight vet requirements so they won't get to vet 3 too fast and yeah, it should be solid (Consider the fact that they deal literally zero to no damage, only good enmass so...)
Right now, they are really good early to late-of-mid game, but when upgraded infantries arrived, they just dropped like flies. I'm NOT asking for them to be able to fight back ferociously, but rather slightly more resilient at vet 3.
Try out 1v1 and you can see that they aren't that "massively" underperformed. The things that make them feels underperformed would be either call-ins cheese (Both sides have this, just that the Allies have more varieties) or in the case of larger team games, more effective indirect-fire weaponry (Due to smaller squad size of Axis infantries + more variety of options for Allies in indirect-fire). Basically, that's it, actually. Allies' blobs can be control by MGs, if only there weren't so many mortars and arties lying around.
Just 1 can be fielded at a time (Both sides' variants, which include Panzerwerfer, Stuka as well). One of these rocket arty things can do exactly what they're meant to do: Aid your frontline troops in making a breakthrough. When there're more than 1 of each types, they will turn into the breakthrough themselves! Therefore, only 1 at a time! Make good use out of that 1 barrage at a time, god dammit! Not just lauch 2, 3 barrages at the same time (No-brainer style) and immediately wipe everything.
Interesting Airborne-try-out by the American player... Also, the Paratroopers still can be upgraded with double M1919s after the patch, right? Just wondering, cause it's quite potent (Not OP, just potent)... And also, done with the 10 placement matches: Rank 368
Our men tried their best for the Fatherland!... Sadly, it was not enough... (If only I took down that mortar pit and some of his armours as soon as I saw it, it would have been better for me)
He can surely beat me, I'm sure about that. I'm the newbie here, after all... But he chose to complain about the game and blame this OP, that OP, etc. If he just flanked more, don't bunch his men up, more T-34/85, I would have been dead before the Ace even arrived... Oh well, another salty fellow, I guess...
P/s: the map is something Essen (The 1v1 one made by LordRommel. Don't know why it didn't show up)
It seems that this trend is starting to eat me alive, I guess: I did very well early on, like I can out flank the enemy and cap up literally the entire map. However, I can't seem to seal it up. This one basically described it. I knew some few errors made by me like:
- Lack of mines: I was a little too busy with my pioneers, but I take no excuses.
- Panzer IV play: I threw it right away due to enemy's double AT guns, despite me already knew its existence... Shame on me.
- Unit preservation: I did pretty well at this part early game, but later on when his infantries were all upgraded, I failed to keep the momentum.
Beside that, he pretty much outplayed me late-game despite me outplayed him early on, but I still need to know what I could done differently. What could I have done to secure my victory?
