At this point the SPioneers should be down to 2 men. If they stay when my 3rd rifleman 2nd Rifleman comes up, they are guarenteed to die unless RNJesus damns me. With the Grenades queued up I can then deal with any support Volks that come up, and with an Ambulance I never need to retreat early-game (just walk a few paces back after losing 2 men in a squad, since I can replenish while under fire as long as I am in uncontested territory).
Yeah, it took 3 infantry to take out 1 SPioneer, but if there are multiple, my other two Rifles should be able to force the other SPioneers to retreat
Sorry but this is plain wrong and not the way to deal with OKW.
Ambulance before captain can be okay, but it's still better to have it AFTER captain (or lt) and grenades are a big NO in the early game. 1. cost too much fuel, 2. cost too many munitions, 3. delays your tech towards capt/stuart or lt/m20. Apart from the fact that grenades are not even an option in the early game, how does this fix the double sturm problem that the OP has? Makes no sense at all...
Just use rifleman in green cover, they'll crush sturms if they have to engage you. and avoid kubel/sturm until you have a capt/stuart or m20. Rifleman in buildings is extremely strong against sturms aswell, but this won't always be an option. |
Is the USF really not getting any love?
Calliope nerf is fine, but why no LT tier changes..
Same for OKW.. I expected buffs/nerfs or another rework, but I can't call this a "Major update" as nothing major changes for any of the factions.. |
1. but the 980ti is NOWHERE NEAR the best bang/buck. its an enthusiast card and those cards are always very priceymore like total overkill
2. the gtx 970 is the same generation as the 980ti?!?!
1. 980 Ti is the best bang for buck currently, r9 390 is nowhere close to the performance of the 980 Ti, and it's all over tech forums that 980 Ti performs best for its cost. Also AMD cards produce a lot more heat than nividia cards + nividia has good software. (not Anti-AMD, since I own AMD cards aswell, but these are just facts).
2. First off, I said go for a newer generation card, this wasn't a reference to 980 Ti, but the upcoming GPU's from nividia or amd (although AMD just recently released 300 series) and 970 and 980 Ti are the same generation but that says nothing about the performance and how new something is. 980 Ti is released a year later and simply performs waaay better than the 970. |
im sorry, but this is not really a good advice. yes, AMD cards use more power, but heat is not a problem with a good custom design.
the big advantages of AMD are: more power for the money, driversupport is said to be better for older cards. furthermore the gtx 970 is just a big fraud and should not be rcommended, as the faulty RAM causes microlags already at 1080p for some games and this will become an even bigger problem for more games in the future.
dont get me wrong, nvidia has some good cards, but the only card that is worth it is the 980ti, otherwise go for AMD
i personally would wait for the new generation to get a new card. if not go for a good custom r9 380
The GTX 970 doesn't "microstutter", this only happens to be the case when you're going above 3.5gigs, but in this case it'll stutter for any GPU.... as the game will then probably use above 4gigs anyways. There are almost no games that cross 3.5gigs currently, except shadow of mordor, assassins creed unity (which is crap optimized) and some highly modded games such as skyrim and some other games. (even BF4 etc will run fine on GTX 770 - 970 without any problems).
Running 180fps in coh2 with my gtx 970, happily setisfied.
Back to topic @OP. You can indeed take a 2nd hand premium gpu or just take the GTX 980 Ti, which is the best bang for buck atm. The card will serve you a really long time and can run anything (prob even be overkill for 1080p atm). The GTX 970 is also great, but since it's released a few years back, it gets kind of outdated even though it still performs well I would still opt to go for a newer card so you don't have to replace it anytime soon!

I have always liked Rifle Comp over Armor company as they're somewhat the same. (flamers and a good versatile tank). But i'm unsure about the Sherman Bulldozer. I've only used it once during my whole playtime as it wasn't a success the first time. It's really expensive compared to the other options and it can only make bunkers and do an arty... ? it seems like a dull tank to me, but if i'm wrong please tell me.
So my question to you:
Is it worth the cost? and if yes, when and how do you use it? |
There is no way to change the tactical map hotkey normally, you have to use seperate programs to do this. If you have a keyboard that comes with software that you can rebind keys, you can make tab = numpad 0.
If you don't have keyboard software to do this, you have to do it with AHK.
Here is a script to make tab = numpad 0.
Script:
#IfWinActive, Company Of Heroes 2
Tab::Numpad0
[:uspend
Return
----------------
Edit: There is an emote in the script...... its supposed to be [:: Suspend
But make sure to put no space between the : and the S, I just did that to not make the emote.
AHK is safe to use in coh2 also.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, exactly what i've been looking for.
Is there a way to make alt tab still work though? ;p alt tabbing isn't possible anymore with this script active.
But thanks ! |
I don't know whether there are any recent topics about this, but I couldn't find a clear answer/solution yet. I am currently playing without the tactical map, because I don't have a numpad (so I can't open it by shortcut). But I really want to use it by rebinding it to "Tab" as this feels more natural aswell.
Is there any way to legitimately change this hotkey ? and if this option isn't given by coh2, what kind of Autohotkey script is needed in order to bind numpad 0 to tab to open & close the map (only in coh2)?
And is autohotkey safe to use in coh2?
Advice is appreciated

Like already mentioned, OKW requires less micro intensive play, and you don't need a lot of diverse units (like ostheer).
Just pick the one you like playing more is my opinion. I think if you start as ostheer, you'll become a really solid player once you understand that faction. OKW playstyle is hated by most (as people tend to 'blob' which means just rushing all units as a group from location to location, which unfortunately works and is strong as OKW, a design flaw). |
1. Concentrate your troops early, if you played vcoh Wehrmacht you know what I mean. You got the late game advantage against usf
2. Snipers. If your good at sniper Micro 2 snipers! The reason for this is they pick off models which allows your gren to fight riflemen and bleed manpower
3. Due your concentration of troops you can cover your area with tellermines (important! If usf rushes your 2 snipers with his m20 and you got no gren for Faust or Teller you can outright call GG and surrender )
4. Dont be too greedy, overextension can be very punishing for ostheer because your army only works if used together.
5. BO: the more open the map, the earlier you should get a sniper. I would always go for the more open side of the map (Angoville for example, the left side is just much better for snipers,mg, paks).
Would be glad if someone correct me if there are better strats, ost was my fav faction but dnot play them at all atm due 70% beeing ukf with aec trololol easy win.
M20 can shutdown the sniper pretty early on though + potential flamer echi's, also easy8 can be hard to deal with mid/late. |
If the M20 forces a puma and luchs, then they wont have real healing unless you were feeding his sturmpios vet for medkits which of course, would be cutting into their shrek budget. Which means you should cut down volks like its nothing for a good chunk of time as long as you get captain out in time to force off mech reg vehicles. The m20 is also a free zooka, combine that with a vet 1 rifle squad nearby and thats all you need vs mech regiment until your captain comes.
And once you do that its gg unless they play stupid well, or you play bad, because they will then have nothing but volks and callin inf vs (insert stronk weapon here) rifles.
so , pretty doable if you get that quick push with the m20.
I've also tried m20 instead of going cpt/stuart (which is stupidly strong in the early game), but you mentioned Calliope b4 major.
I honestly have never been in a position where I could call in a calliope, as he has a panzer/panther on the field before I can call it in and I have the feeling I need a jackson to counter that, otherwise he'll overwhelm me with armor. |
