Trouble with trying AT is that the chances of finding infantry around a forward retreat point come to close to those of bears defecating in woods, popes adhering to Catholicism and politicians discovery the little known skill of lying.

AT so close to massed infantry means you have to protect them, which means MGs, IS etc massed close to a FRP and a prepared defence. Which will generally mean your retreat path is an awful lot longer than his.. Which isn't the best news that slow and vulnerable 6 pounders are likely to receive this year.

I'm a little confused as to what unit this Schwerer actually represents too. It certainly doesn't look like a 30 inch railway gun, fires too fast to be heavy calibre AAA which only really leaves the Flak41 - though I think they only ever made a couple of dozen because they were crap - massively inferior to the Bofors despite the larger calibre. The German Navy had a few Bofors, but none for the Wehr except maybe captured examples.

And why does a truck have 50% more health than a Kingtiger? And why is orange jam called marmalade? And why... *drones off into further rant*

It's meant to be a heavy tank, not just that but a heavy tank with heavy armour all round. Yet it feels an awful lot like 2 PIV's bolted together to me, only without the mobility and with a less AI friendly main gun.

How does it's armour compare to the other heavy and medium tanks in the game? I could swear that some of the mediums have far superior armour.

There weren't many heavy tanks in the war, KV, Tiger, JS2.. I certainly don't feel that it matches up to those well.

Anyone know the stats?

Watching replays of players with good micro skills you can tell their eyes light up and they start thanking their lucky stars for Christmas coming early when someone blobs Shrecks against them.

They just run a medium tank in for the squish.. The key seems to be to keep the blob moving as they can only fire their Shrecks whilst standing still. Cromwells are brilliant at it though I think any medium armour will squish effectively.

It's a shame someone can't make a mod or somesuch which simply gives you lots of blobs to practice upon - the trouble being for us nubbinses that if you don't know what you're doing you'll just lose the tank, and the game, to crap infantry.

If you wants to kill a few years of your time then read all of Glantz's books, oh and his wife's. They'll even give you a free degree and lots of beer at University for such things.

I'm finding that refusing to be bullied out of strategic garrisons helps. Get two Vickers into a key house and they seem to have to resort to IDF to remove them.

1 isn't enough as it kills but doesn't suppress so they can waltz up and grenade / flame the building.

To micro production you don't need to return the camera to your tier buildings, just press F1, F2 etc and build stuff with the hotkeys. Using the rally point as your key building can help too, as soon as they are produced they rush there and are either safely in cover or you can rotate damaged forces, retreat them backcap etc. Watch out for the building being destroyed though!

You'll tend to find that your fuel point or cutoff is a key target so get one of your IS to build a trench whilst it is capturing them initially that covers them, once you've bought some Brens for your IS you can use them offensively so stick your remaining Vickers in the trenches to secure your resources.

Bear in mind that he won't have many more units than you do so sending three infantry units to your one means he can't be everywhere at once. Either fight for the point he is trying to take ( I think the Brits have cheaper reinforcements so equal damage means you've come out ahead) or go around and cap / take a lonelier part of the map. On a lot of maps though giving up the centre church / key building isn't a good idea without a fight.
