Okay, but what is the point of this thread then?
"Commanders are bad, but Relic won't fix them so why even bother looking into it."
This is also ignoring that Relic literally just implemented a fan created balance mod into the game.
Truthfully it's a call out to Relic in frustration to get into gear and fix this game. Not much of a point, I guess |
Panzer 4 doesn't need to be buffed against allied tanks or infantry if the rest of the faction works as it should. The germans (are supposed to, as it's a faction built on combined arms) have better supporting AT, most specifically schreks, and they do. If panzergrens were a more attractive unit choice then the P4 issue would be solved.
The question is how to accomplish that without making panzer grens too good and/or grens irrelevant compared to them. I would suggest that the reinforce cost of panzer grens is lowered to 30 like grens and they receive a bit more (just enough so it matters, no more) -received accuracy with vet, but gren LMGs do a small amount of suppression with vet. The amount should not be enough to suppress in itself, but to help suppression weapons suppress a little faster and keep suppressed squads suppressed for a little longer. This would help with both allied blob complaints and panzer gren viability. |
Same. One big reason I hate this game is because how they remove all the dismemberment and gore.
Limbs will explode and fly all over the screen if you land a direct shot from Tiger or arty on infantry in vCoH
Graphics have been progressively cheapened/dumbed down over the last couple of decades, from starcraft 1 to starcraft 2, from diablo 1 and 2 to diablo 3, etc. This is just another step on that path. |
The one with the double flame HT! It is so funny to see them rage. Although I have failed with it a few times now. They mine their bases
No problem, that's why you just bring the minesweeper with you or send it ahead a little earlier to scout out the path before you go in. |
But why do they try to fix broken mortar instead of switching for a mortar which was tested through preview? .............
I've been trying to make a joke reply but I honestly don't even know what to make a joke of, because I can't theorise a reason in the first place why they would do what they did (and then not immediately undo it) so there's nothing to make a satire of. |
Ost have the advantage early against UKF on urban maps because of having earlier and cheaper mortars. By the time he gets sappers out and starts getting flamers you should have forced his units to retreat earlier, buying some space. Get a doctrine with supply drops, drop munitions and get a flammenHT and a schrek squad. The buffed bundled grenades will wipe mgs, he can't take out the HT because of schreks (remember to be ready with attack ground if he smokes), it's an urban map so use line of sight against his snipers if he gets any and just kill them with lmg grens. Plant one or two teller mines to help catch vehicles since he can't do anything to your HT without an AEC. You'll have munitions for all of this because of supply drops. If he spams flame engineers but gets a bofors instead of AEC, get a flammenHT (or skip T2 if you can afford to) but drop fuel for tanks instead of munitions.
Supply drops work even better if both guys have it. Say one goes osttruppen and the other goes luft supply/close air support (or just whatever mix you want). You can stack the drops to one person and get tanks out for him several minutes earlier than he otherwise would (every time you both drop fuel, that guy gets +100 fuel), this is especially good against UKF players who like to get emplacements since they can't contest the drops and are useless against tanks. And with the cheap, low cooldown, near-no delay, instant pin close air support strafe, infantry AT like guards buttoning for an AT gun doesn't really work. |
Lol both worked, great work hahaha
Which one's your favourite? |
Kyle did. He said they they are looking at mortar like 2 weeks ago?

Yo ho ho!
Seriously though, why buy DoW3 if it's going to have the game life that CoH2 did. Badly balanced factions either internally in their own unit choices or against each other for most of its life, plagued by long-standing bugs, optimisation decreases that turned the game unplayable for a period (at least for me), and near-absence of needed polishing with stuff like commanders and bulletins. And then when the game is approaching working order because the community was listened to, it's abandoned - or perhaps it's the other way around. |
You most certainly would not balance them in a week, don't be silly. You'd overbuff some, underbuff others, and getting it right would be an on going process, just like the rest of balancing a game. Relic is ignoring it because they have a skeleton crew and their priority is fixing things that break the game, rather than annoying but ignorable problems like Meh Tactics.
That said I share your frustrations and would like to see a link to your mod and would help test it.
I would get every commander into working order in a week, release that to the public, and then let them test the changes. Gather the feedback, do the fine tuning and then done. It wouldn't take more than a month all in all...
I would make one, but I don't have any pipe dreams that it's going to be implemented so it'll just be a waste of time to mod it. The most I'd do without support from Relic is post collections of changes, but that's not doing anything either. |
Yep. Truth to the first paragraph....
As for the second, I don't think it'll change that some commanders are just better than others overall since this is a DLC game. But what can absolutely be done is to make all commanders viable and worth picking for those who want to like me. I don't care that Tactical Support Regiment doesn't give me early unit buffs and rocket artillery, I want to use the cool abilities, but currently you can't buy it because it's got a bunch of garbage abilities that I've already made fixes for. What's really strange is that many of the DLC commanders are crappy, how is that possible? you'd think they'd at least be in a working state being DLC, but look at Recon Company... |
