Should be 4, because if you reduce the health/armor of the 6 men squad the MG/mortar will never fire. The main gunner will always get killed and the sync for the new gunner will take too long before he also gets killed.
I was thinking that as well.
This is a fix which gives a bit more health to these squads without making them too weak or too strong. As it stands, the Russians will rarely lose a non-AT weapon team. The mild exception is if a mortar gets bombarded by a barrage from another mortar. |
While it may be the case that having more troops gives you less MP-income, then you must also keep in mind that you also actually have more troops than your opponent. This also means that you probably have better map control, more vet and soon - access to higher-tier units.
I'd say that CoH2 doesn't punish the winner that much, but keeps it interesting. |
As you know, Russians have 6-men weapon teams while the Germans have 3. I'm fine with that in general.
The issue arises with the slow pace of close quarter combat. Say I ambush a Russian weapon team with an assault squad (PGs or what have you). Say I'm doing this from behind as well - and there's no way that the team sees my squad before it is literally on them (and I don't see the enemy squad as well).
Currently in this scenario, if the weapon team retreats within 2-3 secs after first seeing my squad, it will get home safely with some losses and some scratches. Should it be like this? Should not watching your weapon teams only be punished by a timeout of ~1-2 mins and 90 manpower in losses or should it cost you the squad?
Also, if I use an ability like a grenade - what should the result of the combat be, given that I land it perfectly between all the enemy troops - while they are most likely on retreat.
Before someone points this out: this isn't just because the Russian MG is inferior - their mortar is quite a lot better than the German one and it is just as hard to catch (yes, I know, different tiers, but still).

Are we 100% positive on this? I know you guys have to be very protective of the NDA, but I agree this would be a fantastic idea (at least to ask Relic if its possible to allow very private, highly moderated forums). It is VERY hard to provide feedback on the official forums, very hard to identify respected members of the CoH community and, worst of all, its very bad for us to provide feedback amongst ourselves, to help reproduce bugs and/or balance issues.
I know Relic might simply say no, out of playing it safe, but IF it was possible it could be done as an invite only forum, where the user has to prove having a unique copy of the Beta.TBH, by making the forum invitation only, you are making it even safer than the official one is, at the moment. We could be having a sort of Battletest environment and delivering concise, educated and concentrated feedback at the official forums like Purlictor said ((remember, the NDA prevents us from discussing information in public, a properly restricted forum isn't public).
Anyways, enough rant. You guys are running the community, so in the end you and Relic have the final word on this. I just really hope Relic doesn't waste time waiting for an open beta three weeks prior to release, when its already taking Quinn hours to read the official forums.
I agree very much with this reasoning.
Admins, could we *please* try this? I mean, we can verify ownership by linking our Steam-profiles and having some sort of claim mechanism as gmod has (pasting an unique string into our profile to claim it). We will be able to verify both ownership of CoH and account.
I mean really the official forums are a HUGE mess right now. People like Imperial Dane are getting the short end of the stick from people who don't have a clue :/ |
Well I just think that "suka" and "Jebany" are Russian words.. that were adapted by the Polish people.. that all I was saying..
Но я может нехуя незнаю...
It isn't strange that Polish, Russian and other Slavic languages have these words. I mean.. they're Slavic languages and have a lot in common. (I've heard these words in other Slavic countries as well.)
If you'd like, I'll ask my mother about the origin of these words - she'll probably know xD |
The official feedback are there for a reason. No need for us to have a special private section (And I don't think SEGA/Relic will even allow that)
The NDA specifies that we are not allowed to talk about the beta-content with anyone who isn't in it. As long as we don't let anyone who doesn't have the game (and we can verify using their password) it should in theory be fine.
Oh well.. |
Could we create a CoH2 beta sub-forum with the same password as the official Sega forums? |
More people playing = NOT DYING!
You still haven't addressed the fact that this is right after an expansion pack release.
Also, do not double-post. Edit old posts and reply to several posts at once, etc. Maybe that will make you look less silly, but I'm not sure how much that will help considering the things you post |
In the news:
Everything seems to be alright.
The world is NOT ending!
Uneventful forum-posting is happening all over the globe!
I could go on....
But about SC2? I'm not sure if your statement holds up. I mean: sure, there are more people playing now, but that's always the case right after an expansion pack coming out. |
Hahaha!That made me giggle.
Really? Was it to do with the previos server switch, perhaps something going haywire?
Thanks for the info, glad i paused it now!
You'll have to let it run.
It is related to Steam converting your files to a new format, then realizing that something is wrong (even though the game launches and runs perfectly!) and starting a complete re-download. |
