Heyo,
i dont know if the op is right or not, but i find the thread title deeply annoying. If i were relic i wouldn´t answer in this thread no matter what.
On a side note and in my humble opinion, a hard earned victory over someone, who is using cheesy strat, that is what makes victory sweet and differs real (competitive) gamers from the casual comp stomper.

Heyo all,
big Respect to IpKaifung, who managed ESL long before. There is a lot of truth in there and
I get that a lot of people are disapointed - we lost a lot of great community casters and tournament organizers and so on. But the critique is too harsh.
Should relic include the coh2.org crew more? yes they should. On the other hand there are new stars rising, which would never have gotten so much spotlight in such a short time (magpie or A_E come to mind) As a fan, i am really happy with the way ESL develops. Great games, good casts oviously not SNF level yet, but very entertaining stuff.
If Relic sticks to this path, i don´t have too much to bitch *cough* optimisation *cough*. I even have the feeling that through the many top player games and replays, the threads are more about strategy, than the usual "p2w - this" or "broken that".
Maybe relic understands through time what great assests the coh2.org crew around Ami could be, what a wonderful world this could be.
Best Regards

Read the interview, didn´t know him before, i am impressed. Respect and all the best to you Currahee! |
Are you going to participate in the tournament too ?
looks like the boys are coming back to (coh2-)town... Lets see USF in action. On a side note: As a fan i am very happy with the esl games and the casts. Much better games and more action than i would have expected.
Relic did really well! |
Honestly to a small extend i understand the critique of the other good/top players that in the guide was not evident new knowledge, but he understands the faction better than 99,99 % of all players or at least knows how to use it best(without rifle company btw). I guess if he writes a guide it could be considered smart to read it again and again.
Most of the comments are insulting to a player who just won the biggest tourney in coh2 history. His agression and sniper play (as ost obviously) were outstanding, he is the best player around atm - deal with it!

this comment
Yeah it wasn´t very nice. Btw it might be true in some countries, but coh2 is played around the world. But maybe this shouldn´t go in the usual direction, pay to win etc. I probably won´t use the new commanders because i am playing ostheer atm and hope my men will deal with the new (us) threat on the battlefield accordingly . |
To the thread starter, shame to see you (or anybody else) leave (the competitive scene), maybe you come back next year. |
i will probably watch this in cinema, even if i am sceptical. But to hear the music and read "...in a galaxy far far away" probably worth my money.

I'm pretty sure we won't see any costum commanders.
ok i know i am the last person to make fun of a typo but it is friday night and i just can´t help myself:
costum commanders are awesome. i will buy my commander a really nice hat and matching coat. He will look great. |
Hi i liked this tournament a lot. Here are my thaughts:
1. The good:
a. Great casting
Many different live casters on various twitch chanels. Great casting by ami and co caster on main chanel. i liked amis stories and his zooming in. In the very first game it was a little bit overboard, but after then great as always. Ami is still by far the best coh2 hype caster.
b. Great involvement from relic
In game banner, in game decals.
c. Great players
As far as i am concerned all the top players i wanted to see were in the tourney. Some didn´t make it in finals. I personally thaught that bartons games in the main event were some of the best, because he stayed in game and faught like a mo***. i liked this.
d. Grand finals
Devm versus aimstrong was a great set of games
2. The bad:
a. Qualifier day too long (!)
A lot of players complained that the qualfiying game had to much rounds. This is sth. co2.org should loook at imho.
b. Community complaining about DeVm and Aimstrong
Aimstrong is a player who wants to win and he has the means to do it. DeVM is a very very good player. Yeah it looks like they came back because of the ocf. Even if they have been lurking around at least since wfa. But this is e-sport. You cant say, you want an e-sport title but you want only to win the true coh2 gamers. If there is a korean player next time who wins after he played for a month and just microes everybody to death, you have to live with this too. Sport is always about success and money.
c. Invites
I do not understand invites too well, so i cant say to much about the idea behind it, but from the discussion it is sth. coh2.org needs to look at in the future.
3. The ugly
There wasn´t anything really ugly. The patch before hotfix was pretty ugly, but coh2.org solved it pretty well. if the finalists really didn´t use ocf decals as an protest i think it was uncool in an community sponsored event - because it is unpolite against everybody not just ami. Since those two players are the best coh2 players in world atm, they earned themself some special treatment. If they just didn´t like the decals "never mind".
Congratulations to DeVM, Aimstrong, OmgPOP and all the other players for great games. Thx to coh2.org crew and ami of course for a great event. There are so many people working on this event, behind the secenes who aren´t mentioned enough or at all, big cheers to you.
I was entertained, ami.
Best Regards
