USF is terrible faction, OP at 1v1 and UP at 3v3 and above.
There is a terrible assumption that Relic is making, is that the USF has to win early or die.
Right now, 1v1 focus mainly on early game, which is why USF is so OP in 1v1 right now. But, 3v3 and 4v4 decide at late game. USF does not give a sh!t because there is no tier4 for this faction.
This assumption give USF huge advantage at early and worst disadvantage at late.
In competitive match, or e-sport game, both players must be given same chance of winning, no matter early or late.
To do that, the "advantage" that Relic and community often talk about has to be REMOVED.
This applies to all factions, not just USF.

If USF need to be balance, then early nerf and late buff is required. |

Wanted to make a formal thread regarding this core argument .
Taking the whole point of this faction as stated by relic -
Crippling resource penalties compensated by very powerful units and vet 5.But is this reality anymore?
Where are the very powerful units of release - Ober,KT,stuka,sturmoffizer,sturmpio -All toned down or nerfed into relative non-use.
2nd point -Veterancy.Vet4 and 5 -much rare in competitive games except on cheapest volks(which have shit vet bonuses due to nerf).So another marginal feature.
So what is currently the excuse for these brutal penalties?
Does the original premise even apply anymore?

tfw people want ISU to counter armor as good as a jagdtiger does while maintaining its ability to wipe squads with HE shells.
Meanwhile, jagdtiger shell barrage remains as useless as ever for whatever purpose it was made for.
Gladly to trade HE shell just for elefant performance. Who need a half-baking vehicle which can only serve one purpose at a time but inferior to its counterpart? |
Meanwhile, Jagdtiger:
- Receive ability to fire through obstacles.
- Vet 1 can snipe atgun like nobody.
- Reduce cost.
While maintaining its enormous 525 armor, 320 damage, 500 penetration at long and 85 range.
Elefant:
400 armor, 320 damage, 360 penetration at long, 70 range
ISU
310 armor (lol), AP round 240 damage, 200 peneration at long, 70 range
What does it get? HE round with about 10 seconds to load and 60 munition for MG.
The last time I use ISU-152 again, I was shocked, really shocked. Relic magically change a "beast killer" into a firefly, except it cannot rotate the turret.

2. Lots of very specialised infantry (except Volks)
3. The entire Luft doctrine was ported from OKW
4. No real generalised tank... until the Pz 4J was made doctrinal
1.OKW don't get that much
2.Did you play PE? Panzer Grenadier is their only infantry without using Luft doc.
3.Except Wirblewind, Flak88, Butterfly bomb, Henschel, Luftwaffe ground force... Oh wait, so 5/6 was not ported.
4. What is generalized tank? Panzer IV Ausf A and Marder III are their iconic unit. |
Isn't PE OKW in CoH2? I think both factions are really similar
PE are basically OKW.
Care to explain why PE and OKW are alike? Because I cannot find any similarity between those two.

The game needs to focus on
1. Optimization
2. Balance
3. Making the current commanders useful and each viable
#2 and #3 are what Relic has been doing for these years, which are parallel and long-term tasks. #1 won't happen since Relic is about to move on to other project, they don't have money to work that for free. |
Several days ago, my friend give me an idea: porting Panzer Elite as final Axis faction.
The idea is kind of great because:
1/As Relic side, workload is reduced greatly, since you don't have to make new model from beginning.
2/No need to think new faction design plan. PE tech tree was already great in CoH1.
3/Panzer Elite game style is completely different than the rest of current factions. Their armor car, half track with hit-and-run tactic is not to be seen yet.
4/Many of community requests such as Hummel, Jagdpanther or Flak88 are fulfilled.
As for new faction, I would suggest:
- Replace Ostheer Panzer Grenadier with Brandenburger, with same stats.
- Replace Ostheer 222 with Puma 20mm and Motorcycle, stats readjust.
- Small discount for any player who own OF or ToV.
The only downside is because it adds another axis faction. But the game was mainly in Europe, so I think PE would fit best. |
