Pretty sure they're seven popcap. |
The Airborne Assault ability could be changed. It's good, but sometimes you just don't need the Fallschirmjager squad. And you can't use it if you're at over ninety population.
And the OKW don't need anti-infantry tanks. They already have the Luchs, which does its job fine. |
I like them because you have to be very intelligent when using them. The grenade is kinda weak however, and the Shreck upgrade has never made a whole lot of sense to me. Doesn't seem logical to give them to an expensive anti-infantry squad that gets wiped easily.
Then again, we know what happens if you gave them to a cheap, hard-to-kill infantry unit. |
The only thing I'd like to see done is that instead of the building infiltration deal, they instead get a one-time-only stealth movement ability that allows them to infiltrate enemy lines. Would work exactly like the Stormtrooper cloak ability from CoH1, except you can only use it one time. Would be more immersive I think. |
It probably needs a buff. Its anti-infantry capabilities are only marginally better than a Panzer IV. For a dedicated anti-infantry vehicle, that's not enough.
Not a huge buff mind you. |
So you are the one that deserve our thanks.
Well, keep it coming. I am so used to play hopeless factions that something wasn't right with OKW being so effective indeed.
They'll be fine. They have a better early game than the Ostheer as well as more teching flexiblity and the whole - now somewhat silly - vet five deal.
Honestly, I don't think these nerfs are going to have a huge impact on 4v4 balance, but they will definitely impact 1v1 balance. We'll see what happens when the meta adjusts. |
Me three weeks ago:
Haven't played it, but my immediate impression is that OKW will be incredibly OP with these changes.
Me two days ago:
Volksgrenadiers
- Population increased from 5 to 7
Panzer IV
- Fuel cost increased from 135 to 150
Panther Tank
- Fuel cost increased from 175 to 200
King Tiger
- Fuel cost increased from 260 to 350
Jagdtiger
- Fuel cost increased from 290 to 350
Called it. |
I said previously that I don't like demo-charges because I don't like invisible squad-wiping weapons, so I guess I'm obligated to say the same thing about the Goliath.
Still, also have to point out that the Goliath is locked behind a fairly mediocre doctrine, as opposed to being non-doctrinal. Honestly, once the new commander gets locked behind a paywall, I don't think you're going to see many Goliaths around. |
I don't know about this Soviets-are-stuck-in-1942 theory. I mean, what major late war weapons are they missing? A couple of assault guns are the only things that come to mind. But is the absence of the SU-100 really that big a deal? I mean, maybe the T-34/85 could become non-doctrinal, but that's the only significant change I could see happening.
Ostheer's not that different really. The only weapons they have that were developed after 1943 are the StG44 and the Ostwind. Maybe the Brummbar. So I don't think the Germans-have-future-weapons argument really holds true.
Both the Soviets and the Ostheer do, however, suffer from older faction designs that lack features like forward retreat points. That's significant. |
1. No playercard.
2. Volks no AI upgrade, give them something when removing schrecks. If volks have no schrecks, who has them now?
3. P4 costing more than T34/85 & EZ8 while being worse
4. Panther costs increased for no reason what so ever, if you want to delay it, do it by teching (e.g. all 3 trucks need to be deployed)
5. KT armor would make it too strong, it still needs to be countered by AT guns
6. JP4 would go through armour like a knife through warm butter, no reason for those changes. You have a panther to counter heavy armour.
7. What's the point of the Kübelwagen now???
8. Sturmtiger fuel increased for no reason 1. No playercard either. |
