A better question is "Was the purpose of the NDA to generate hype?"
The answer is no.
The NDA was to prevent Disclosure of privilidged information and not to generate or prevent the generation of hype.
NDAs are never used to generate hype, ever. It's kind of against the point. People seem to be confusing the Alpha with a Demo or a Reward or Bonus when it's really just a test. |
Well, first of all there is a huge difference between an in-game unit sound file containing a expletive and this being used in game and someone swearing AT another person.
The chat filter isn't there because they don't think swear words should be in the game but because a minority of players use the in game chat to abuse other players.
They wanted to censor this abusive behaviour rather then the words themselves - and as they can't check P2P chat for context, they just censored the lot.
Personally it doesn't bother me - type what you want, but I get why they may have felt that it needed sorting. More likely is that the Publisher decided that they needed the filter and not Relic, IMO.
Eitherway, it should be a config option. But it isn't, and that doesn't really bother me because I'm playing CoH2 to...well play they game and not to type in the in game chat. |
Yes, the Howitzer Motor Carriage is good.
but, if they bring it out first - around the time of a P4 - then...well you have a P4. Most of the time a Sherman will come first to provide a base line tank.
If it comes out late game, its armour is essentially paper so you should have plenty of armour and infantry based counters to deal with it.
If you face off against on with shrecks don't clump or sit in cover or blob towards it - spread out in a arc with you squads, make it work harder to hit you - yes you might lose a squad but why shouldn't you? Its a howitzer. |
Using that doc I tend to try to skip building T2 in favour of getting the STUG E as early as possible - of course that depends on CPs though so if it looks like I'm going to have to face down a T70 I'll either spring for the T2 -> Pak 40 or try and scare it off with a PGren -> Shrecks call in.

Awesome, I'll check this out later. :-) I suspect it might make things worse for some/older cards though - particularly those with less VRAM. |
Cons are weak enough for it not to make a huge difference imo.
Its nice as it means the ost/okw player has to react faster, but it doesn't stop suppression, and most tanks can reverse fast enough not to be too exposed when hit by an AT nade.
Putting this ability on shocks though, that would be insane, they kill too well at close and letting them get to close range faster would remove their main period of vulnerability; when they are closing with their target. |
Seriously though, if you play it right they've spent quite a bit of fuel on it and then with some good indirect fire you can use cause them to spend a fair a bit of man power on the squads around it.
If you're just running into the buffed troops over and over again then you are always going to lose.
The other option is to just ignore it and move to another point. |
yeah! the exact same thing happened to me last month after i watched an episode of band of brothers, crossroads. before charging an embankment Cpt. Winters chucked red smoke, as a "signal" not sure what, or why.
IIRC, in "Beyond Band of Brothers" Dick Winters himself talks about that incident and explained in more and less-dramatised detail what happened there. Worth a read. I can't remember what he said, but I'll try and look it up later. |
Damn these are some mighty fine desktops... (Especially Ami's...those are AWESOME)

last patch i tried the "super mine" and it killed 2 members of a sturmpio squad... so as leyawn said, i started placing the mine behind the demo in order to catch more units in a larger blast.
---path--->
[demo] [mine]
Done this a few times in big team games. When it works, it breaks me everytime; helps get all the blob and has caused rage quit.
However, experience show it only really works 50% of the time, and even then only if you're playing someone without sweepers. |
