+1000, all of this!
Also, thank you PQ and Cynthia for posting some claryfing stuff on the stream. I think that's the way to go for better communication with the community.
Despite all the hating and whining, the CoH community has so many people who are passionate about the game and contribute every day with with constructive posts, streams, casts, guides or whatever.
However, the current MP meta and performance is truly annyoing. There is nothing more frustrating than losing due to performance. I think people get that these issues can not be changed over night, but please give us something to look forward to! That would also help making communication in the forums more constructive and less bitter.
I think that is why Relic puts up with the whining, because deep down everyone in this community wants to see this game succeed. |
So i watched the stream vid today and i have to say that Relic is unbelievable (i am being ironic here and i will continue being that). What are they thinking and not revealing us the 50 Page Word doc with their Roadmap for COH 2. Freaking unbelievable.
Seriously now, what do you guys want?
Sorry but i don't get this constant negativity from so many members here. Its way to much guys. Give Relic a break (and the rest of the community)! I think the community was looking more for what to look forward to the next couple of months not just when the bug patch was, but when to expect a new balance patch along with some new multiplayer content. |
"All factions are played equally, and if Axis is at 80%, you're just "not on at the right time"
Wow I hope relic did not state this. Ya, both factions MUST BE PLAYED EQUALLY. You can't start a game without an equal amount of allied and axis players. Yea I think they said something along the lines of what time of day you get on makes big differences between number of Axis and Allied players. |
In hindsight, playing and trying to do a QA likely was not the best idea. It was very difficult to answer questions meaningfully and play the game itself. I figure its worth clarifying a few points incase they weren't clearly communicated in the stream itself.
Regardings Volksgrenadiers and the Shrek, we recognized this as an issue. However, we noted that the removal of this weapon would likely have adverse effects on the factions performance. As such, we are working towards a solution which minimizes this adverse effect while resolving the tactical breakdown this strategy has created.
Regarding the Pack Howitzer, I did not understand the question when it was first stated. The point relating to its target size is fair, its definitely something we can look into.
Regarding RNG, there are definitely cases where RNG has resulted in a negative experience for players. In cases where counterplay is maintained, we feel RNG works well to create a positive environment. In instances where counterplay is non-existant, we feel RNG's impact on the game can come across as arbitrary and is worth addressing at some point in the future. One example related to stray shells wiping a squad, this is definitely an area we want to improve on.
Regarding Panzergrenadiers, it was noted that they are over performing relative to their cost. But, given their timing their overall performance is limited. Basically, if the unit was fielded at the 0 minute mark it would likely be viewed as an over performer, its not and therefore its performance is considered to be on par or slightly below par. That is all that comment was meant to point out.
Regarding the call-in meta, it was noted that we recognize the cost efficiency of call-ins and their impact to the meta. However, we feel that a solution to call-ins cannot occur until we remove the reliance Soviet players have on these units. This likely means some changes to make Soviet core units more appealing/viable.
Hope this clarifies some of the point we sought to make in the cast. We will definitely consider going with a separate QA section next time.
PS. The point about the Sherman Bulldozer was meant to be some light humour. Thank you Peter, because when you said the joke about the Sherman Bulldozer it blew my mind lol. |
Community: "When can we expect heavy tanks for the US?" Peter: "What the Sherman bulldozer isn't heavy enough?" |
U.S. fights significantly heavier vehicles than what the Axis have to face except maybe the IS-2. |
^ That's like saying Mogadishu is better than Aleppo. No more like saying our community (Dubai) is better than Baghdad (bigger game communities). |

Now we've got that out of the way.
All I want from Relic is:
1. Performance tweaks. My rig is a monster. It is the large hadron collider. I paid a lot of money for it and it eats other games for breakfast. Yet I have some issues with CoH2. This makes me a sad panda.
2. A balance patch that does for OKW what the March Deployment patch did for the other factions.
3. A more relaxed, chilled-out attitude towards discussing stuff. You aren't the NSA. Chill. The' Fuck. Out.
4. Related to 3, why in general terms don't you just discuss what you'd like to do in future. Man, I've followed the Creative Assembly for *years* before and after Sega. They discuss stuff in a way you don't. Take the criticism, Relic, we love what you do but this is (by a country mile) your biggest problem as a company and hamstrings any attempt to have a meaningful dialogue with fans / customers and community.
5. Yeah, this community is fractious and a bit of a nightmare. It's like herding cats. Ignore fifty per cent of what they say. Do stuff for single player. Then ignore another forty per cent. But ten percent of what this community says is golden. That's the bit that needs capturing. It's like that aftershave from Anchor Man. Sex Panther - I dunno, a third of the time it works thirty per cent of the time or whatever the fuck the quote is.
6. Man I love this game. At the same time I hate this game. You can't make a game like this and not expect people not to get passionate about it. Imagine if you'd made a 'meh' game.
This community is A LOT better than other games though, like Battlefield, Total War, Mass Effect, CoD. |
There should NOT have been a Q and A when Peter was playing the game. He himself complained that he couldnt focus on giving out answers while playing the game.
Ridiculously inconclusive answers:
"Why can the flak halftrack penetrate medium tanks (schwerer panzer HQ)" Answer: "Why shouldnt it?"
"When will USF get heavy tanks?" Answer: "Isnt the sherman bulldozer heavy enough?"
Then someone asked why Soviets have weak AA and Peter said that it was a purposeful disadvantage (i myself never considered that it was on purpose), and then he answered "Why do zergs need to hatch from eggs?"... What? *facepalm*
The one that made me go ugh, is when someone asked why shrecks and bazookas cost them same, even though one is vastly superior to the other. Ol' Pete answered "What do they give up on each side?" I started to think, "Well Volks lose some shitty rifle and gain cold immunity and a skreck. P Grens lose 2 STG's and gain 2 shrecks... but P grens are meh. Stormtroopers gain a shreck and vehicle detection. Rifleman lose one or two M1 Garands and get two zooks, while Rear echelons are glass cannons with zooks." Mose people agree that the damage done by zooks does not reflect the cost well. |
Awesome support, hahahahaha....Northwest you must be feeling so cool, you the only mature in here against hordes of immature kids.
Let me try to tell you some facts. The average COH2 player has paid already more for this than any other game and it makes sense that we would expect the game to work and be fun.
All these patches you mentioned, yeah half of them were to fix bugs and exploits they created after whoring untested DLC Even EA is doing better at the moment. And you are acting like COH2 is a brand new IP or something, thank them for the hard work.More than 50% of the game assets, models, animations etc are a straight reuse from Coh1 and its expansions which we have already again paid.Mods, map creator already existed in COH1.
Why dont you just send them a monthly check if you like them so much? Since the rest of us kids obviously cannot afford to do so...And stop being a dumbass, respect the other members that see things differently. I agree with your statement about the quality of this game, I rarely dump this much money into a game for DLC, hell I think I paid less for all my Battlefield 4 stuff which include CE and premium. I do expect a game to be in a good state especially if I paid a lot for it. Relic should make betas more accessible for everyone. It worked for Battlefield with the Community Test Environment and EA and DICE got lots of praise for doing it. |
