Jackson's power is supposed to be speed and being able to get behind WM tanks.
ATM they can do that(cirle a stug or a tiger) and ALSO shoot from a safe distance, that's what we call OP.
ATM it has everything..super speed, rotating turret, range, crush infantry potential, penetration and decent damage. Only the Panther has those kind of perks but compare the cost of the two.
I think a decrease in range is fair, not sure though that 55 is enough. We shall see.
I'm 100% with that, if you make Jackson immune to damage engine. |
More individually valuable models to shoot at.
Oh so when a Ostheer sniper shot at a Tommy squad, it is a less individual valuable model to shot at? |
The new Soviet sniper shoots more slowly than the Wehrmacht one because in the Ostheer/Soviet matchup Ostheer has fewer models and smaller squads. If they had the same rate of fire the Soviet sniper would be strictly better.
Which has nothing to do with DPS. |
Because DPS is meaningless when dealing with snipers. They kill on every shot.
Not really, DPS means damage per second, if a sniper shot faster than the other one, he has a better DPS, even if the damage is a critical shot of 1000 damage each shot. |
- I'm not sure if a one man sniper with better stat is going to make sniper spam more counter-able by Ostheer and OKW, especially in team game. Maybe today Soviet players are less careful with their two men squads but that's doesn't mean they can't improve their sniper micro play and make the situation exactly the same after a short period of adaptation. Axis players are going to lose faster their squad models vs such sniper and maybe bleed the same way if even faster early game.
I have little faith in the argument that Ostheer players will then be able to counter sniper with their own sniper, first because OKW players will be crying in the corner and second because as say before, the bleed right out of the box will be greater.
- Why would the Soviet sniper being inferior than Ostheer one, there is something fundamentally wrong with this fact. Soviet sniper should be different, but making it weaker for the sake of balance is a kind of acceptation balance team could do nothing to balance factions. Then if the soviet sniper has to be weaker, then it has to be cheaper which will could make the situation even worst.

Do you know WHY the cheapest infantry get that weapon? Its because they are and only ever will be 4 men. They have that weapon so that despite their small squad size they can continue to fight as without it dps falls by 25% per model (of whom are easier to hit AND more expensive to replace than tommies btw) tommies dont have that problem becauae they can diffuse the 4 man squad problem.
I think weapon racks and 5 man squads should be mutually exclusive. If thats the case keep brens big and strong, but as long as they get throw on another model (with health, a gun and presenting another target to disperse incoming damage) theres no reason for the bren to be MUCH more than a fancy model.you cant have an inferiour squad inferiour 100% of the time in literally every single way and call it balance. Let okw start with obers and lets see how that balance goes. Same thing, just a smaller scale with tommies.
You're taking the design by the wrong end, Brit Tommies are designed to be 5men squad from start thus their expensive price from start. In order to balance them early game, they've been reduce to 4men squad. If Tommies were meant to be 4men squad per design at that same price, Ostheer sniper and mortar would have received the hammer nerf slam at Brit release (which would have broken SOV/OST matchup).
There is no magic here, You can't have Gren and volks at the same level than Rifle and Tommies because of price and faction design. Dual weapon for Rifles and Tommies are meant to be soft cap and give Gren and Volks some mid-game advantages before USF/UKF being able to dual equip all their squads. |
Im not even sure why 5 man long range, sub formula reinforcment cost, elite RA, AOE heal on field unit NEEDS to be able to double arm long range firepower to begin with...
To stay superior to cheapest infantry getting the same level of buff with their own weapons upgrade. At the beginning dual weapons squad is a soft cap.

As right now it seems completely arbitrary.
Yes it is and it is not that bad. Sometime human decision is what make it more balance. |

222 will be fine. Don't know what's this huge worry as the 222 lethality and fuel cost is the exact same. 444 will be 400 mp and 60 fuel and any AT weapon will quickly force it off and you have use Pioneer to repair it. Not USF tank crews, Sturmpioneers, Sappers, etc. Not like anyone was seriously using rifle fire to ward of a scout car before now, it forces Allies to go AT weapons just like against OKW or Axis against any Allied faction.
And how do you get that if you went USF T1 first? Can you remember us why you like to pick Airborn doctrine in the first place.

Do you build an AT gun to counter a single M3, UC or dodge? You don't, becouse these are cheap units and it is not worth it. In the same way you shouldn't be forced to go AT gun to counter a single 222.
All of them are vastly counterable with regular rifles. It will not be the case with the new 222 |
