One thing that would be cool is if we could get permission to monetize CoH 2 YouTube videos, like other companies have done. My CoH 2 videos get flagged as non-monetizable much more than any other game on my YouTube channel. Lynx told me to PM him about it so I did then he got fired. |
When you can only fast forward at a replay at a limited speed, and when you can't rewind if you miss the cool thing or get it at the wrong camera angle, getting a good 10 second clip for Relic to share on Facebook is pretty tough. Making videos is hard enough without the game fighting you.
In terms of replay features compared to CoH, we had basically nothing until a little while ago when we finally got to see resources. It also doesn't help that blizzards and the generally muddy and indistinct color scheme make a lot of the clips you'd want to capture ugly in the first place. And the game's performance tanking at random times really messes with recording too.
Just throwing that out there, as someone who once made videos but who never bothered with highlights and stuff for all sorts of reasons. |
Pretty much this:
I didnt play because I dont enjoy the game in its current state.
Excessive RNG, Balance, Input Lag, and the largest being Pay2Win Commanders. The game itself doesnt reward better micro or macro.
Why I don't participate:
- Early engagements are too RNG dependent.
- Too much spam, mostly because a few units are a lot more viable/reliable than the others.
- Lack of strategy. In most games, both players just rush a vehicle.
- Input lag.
- Terrible pathfinding on vehicles.
- The ladder is repulsive. To compete in a tournament you have to prepare for it by playing ladder games and/or against a partner. The problem is that the ladder is filled with unbalanced p2w commanders banned from tournaments. Playing against these is both not fun and a waste of time since you'll never meet them in tournaments.
- Skill is not rewarded enough. Poor micro is fine since you can spam cons/grens all game into tanks. Why would I spend time getting ready for a tournament if I could struggle against a player who just A-moves groups of units around the map?
What could make me participate:
- Fix the input lag.
- Improve pathfinding.
- Add more strategic depth to the game. Don't force me to rush tanks every game. Let me do something different (global upgrades would be great).
- Make the game less RNG dependent. I'm not saying there shouldn't be RNG, but there should be ways for players to tip the balance in their favor with superior micro. An example is how rifle/volk combat worked in vCoH, but you could come up with something else.
The last two points will also make the game more interesting to watch, which will increase the amount of viewers on streams/the amount of streamers and casters, which will in turn encourage more players to participate. The game will gain more exposure and more people will want to be part of the fun. A lot of players just want to see their game casted!
Also, OBS mode, obviously. |
working as intended that grave will be his grave |
Agree fully to this suggestion.
But we didn't have that in COH1 either. I suppose there is a design reason behind it. All though I can't see what it would be.
CoH 1 didn't have TrueSight™ so it mattered much less. I've been saying since the beta that a hold fire button would make sense. |
Who cares if she was female.
What difference does that make. None.
...?
Kodachrome seems to have legendarily large powers to stick around - I think instead of asking about various CoH vets your best bet is to ask why Kodachrome is still around |
Definitely the most professional cast I've seen in a while. |
Now the question is whether four days later they come back angry that the game sucks and that they have to buy a bunch of commanders. |
Here's how I see it: everyone committed war crimes in World War 2. Some countries were worse than others but no country was spotless. The Allies bombed the fuck out of a bunch of civilians, for instance, just in case that would help (it didn't).
But did we see any of this in the original Company of Heroes? No, of course not. That game was about heroes, and in the single player, all of the Americans were amazing people who were brave and tough and funny and noble. Even the Germans came off pretty well in that game: the game didn't show them doing anything evil and in the multiplayer it even humanized them quite a bit. You got a really good perspective of the average soldier just trying to make it through the war.
Then we get to Company of Heroes 2 and are all the Soviets heroes? No, suddenly it's really important that we know that a lot of the Soviets were assholes too. But why is this important all of a sudden? Why does Russia get the "well we have to be true to history and show the true horrors of World War 2" treatment, when back in Company of Heroes, the Allies were portrayed as the coolest people in the world who would never think of doing anything bad? |
Miley Cyrus commander DLC confirmed. |
