Yeah, it is an annoying issue. However, it may be that Steam doesn't offer a way for Relic to differentiate effectively. I've never used the 'Delete Local Content' option on this game, so I don't know if shows up then. |
Double/triple cost reduction bulletins for 100+ munitions upgrades are probably some of the more potent (pschreck, flame ht, paratroopers). That said, duplicates are supposedly going to be a thing of the past with the warspoils change, so I wouldn't stress over them too much at this point. |
It's unlikely to matter. COH2 is CPU limited. Both of those video cards would probably be underutilised.
I would look at other games you like and see how those video cards perform at those. |
There is a mistake in the text. In 32-bit systems 4GB is the maximum size of address space, not memory. This space is generally divided into 4 chunks of 1GB. Sadly, the system has more to address than ram, for example the ports and some cpu stuff and these also fit into the same address space. Thus at least one of these 4 chunks of address space is already used (and this is a compatibility mode, normally it would also have the copy of whole ram address space for system use), so only 3 are allowed to be filled with RAM and used by programms. That is why in fact 32-bit system uses maximum 3gb of memory, even if 4gb is present on board.
I'm not sure if it is like that in all architechtures (it seems for me that there is no way around it), but that is definitely true for x86 and that is the only one described in the article.
TLDR: 32-bit system can use up to 3gb of ram not 4gb.
Ultimately, if someone is trying to play on 32-bit Windows, they're gonna have a bad time That's all the average player really has to take away from this. |
tl;dr
Edit: For what it's worth, I never have any game crashes. The only time it ever happens is when there is a sync error, and that seems to be an issue with the game itself. So hopefully this guide will help out those who do have strange problems |
Let me guess... you're one of those players who throw a MG in a building and expects it to lock an entire area down, only for the enemy to just run around your house and throw a nade in it?
No, nobody said that. We're saying that the enemy can run straight *at* the house front on and throw a nade in it.
The Vickers MG is one of the best MG's for slugging it out with other MG's, especially if they're in houses or cover. It will snipe most garrisoned units out of buildings and it's pretty strong.
That's correct, but it's also a very niche situation and definitely not the one being discussed. |
I wouldn't remove the damage. Until PIATs are actually useful in some way, Brits need all the soft counters for light vehicles they can get.
The extra sight/range they get in buildings at vet1 helps make up for the the suppression issue a bit.
Honestly, I think the single biggest problem with the vickers is its inability to suppress *volksgrenadiers*. Those guys will blob straight at you and throw an instant flame nade, even though thematically they should be a relatively poorly trained unit that is easily suppressed.
My solution:
Either generally increase how easily volksgrenadiers are suppressed.
Or
Add a table entry to increase volksgrenadier suppression against Vickers HMGs. |
I think as a basic improvement PIATs should be able fire relatively accurately where vehicles will be *if* they don't adjust their direction/speed. This would fit their role as an ambush weapon, while allowing opponents to counter with good vehicle micro.
Improving PIAT effectiveness with vet certainly wouldn't hurt either. |
I only ever get this issue when I've been alt-tabbing the game while waiting for a match. I suspect it relates to alt-tabbing back in at a certain point during the loading screen. Even then it's pretty rare though.
I strongly recommend using alt+enter instead of alt+tab. It seems to play much nicer with the game. |
If you can gather some data, that would also help a lot.
Please open Task Manager before you launch the game. Press alt-enter when the performance issues happens and screenshot both the Processes and the Performance tabs in Task Manager for us.
You can also use GPU-Z or Process Explorer to view what your video card is doing. The links and instructions are in my guide. Just use Ctrl+F to find them.
