Thread: GTX 970 and coh2 issue22 Dec 2014, 08:18 AM Jump back to quoted post22 Dec 2014, 03:45 AMwongtp recently built my 1st pc, got a gtx970 to go with. abit of hiccups here and there, like my ram doesnt work with dual channel set up, only a single 8gb stick works, hdd wont initialize and stuff like that. but generally its working well. I dunno, all that stuff is highly abnormal and probably indicates a hardware fault somewhere. If you built it yourself you basically have to trial and error to figure out where the problem is. It could even be mobo, psu, etc etc. Not worth giving any thought to drivers or game patches until after that's sorted. In: COH2 Bugs

The servers can tell which player is still connected after a disconnect, and will award the win accordingly. If you're getting constant losses from drops, it's likely a problem with your connection. This is even more likely based on the numbers you give. 100 drops is a ridiculous amount. Not sure if I'm using the wrong terminology, but I'm talking about what was discussed on previous page. Generally the game freezes up and the whole team starts 'wtf' in chat, and then if you wait around finally the defeat screen arrives, while still being connected. I'm assuming this uses trust system? Otherwise I can't imagine what else it would be used for. In: COH2 Bugs

Thread: Civilization V12 Dec 2014, 06:56 AM For civ a decent quad core and midrange graphics are fine. I'd go i5-4690 and 270x. Or better graphics as the budget allows. The laptop issue is probably thermal constraints. On paper it'll have more power than civ needs but there are hardly any laptops on the market that can sustain 100% load without throttling down. Thread: Civilization V11 Dec 2014, 00:44 AM If you're competitive and at a high level it's by far the best civ game. For comp-stompers it's probably more a matter of taste. I wasn't sure about 1UPT at first, but over time it's become apparent that it allowed the introduction of tactical combat to the series in a very rewarding way. Wonders... well turtling should be one viable option amongst many, and I would consider a few wonders to still be far too strong relative to their opportunity cost. And yeah you're right that the expansions are essential - not even worth playing without IMO. It's important to mention that the game has been broken for a very long time. After a full year (!) of broken multiplayer they recently put out a patch that fixed some very basic exploits. Unfortunately this patch broke the game even more than it previously was in terms of stability, and they haven't even commented yet so it could be a few months (or realistically another year) before any fixes come through.
